Dru sat out by the lake, on that outcropping of rock she had become so fond of that looked out over the lake. She was reading, at least, she was most of the time. Sometimes she would just stare out over the sparkling water, watching how the soft breeze created little waves. She was trying to think, to sort out things in her mind, and not getting very far.
On one hand was Chase, the one she had given so much of herself to and who was still able to make her feel amazing with just one touch. She smiled lightly, the memory of him touching her giving her a pleasant tingle. And that was only part of it, there was that emotional connection, too. Not to mention he had said he wasn't sleeping with anyone but her, she was it. But every time he said that then something went wrong and she ended up hurt.
And on the other....Silver. Dear Silver who was so sweet and adorable, not in the way a first year was adorable, but in the way that she just wanted to lay there in his arms and look up at the stars. He was a great friend, one that she could connect to and that she shared interests with. Who she just so happened to enjoy physical contact with. She sighed and closed her book, realizing how useless it was to even try.

Chase wasn't sure if he'd gone looking for Dru consciously or not. He'd wanted to see her--he needed to see her--but he couldn't get over the guilt he'd been harboring since that kiss with Anna in her shop. He'd argued with himself over that. It was just a kiss. But God, what a kiss it had been! You didn't say you wouldn't kiss anyone else. But it had been more than a kiss. You didn't break your promise. No, but he knew Dru, and he knew that the things he'd said at the masquerade, and more importantly, the things he'd implied, had promised more than he'd meant. Or maybe, he told himself, he'd meant them until that kiss.
Either way, he'd held back from anything more. He'd had the opportunity to push for more. He'd had the opportunity for relief, and he'd denied himself! He was driving himself crazy over this. He needed to see Dru, to remind himself why he'd made those promises to her, to remind himself that yes, he'd meant them. He needed relief.
Chase had gravitated toward the lake somehow, thinking about Dru, and when he'd seen her there, he'd almost thought it was his mind playing tricks on him. But no, she was solid--she was real--and she looked just as lost in thought as he did. Chase made a beeline toward her, his blood quickening, and all thoughts of Annabelle fading away. His eyes sparked with some feeling he couldn't identify, and so gave no thought to.

Dru felt more than heard or saw Chase coming towards her and she turned, watching him. She didn't think of standing to go to him, she was working too hard to pull herself out of the reverie that she had been in to be able to concentrate enough to spend time with him. As she watched him she realized again how good looking he was, it was easy to forget or to get used to it when she saw him so often.
She then found herself comparing him to Silver, but she mentally shook herself, neither of them deserved to have her do that while in their presence. When she blocked those thoughts from her mind she found that her heart was beating fast, and her eyes sparkled as the memories from the Masquerade came flooding back to her.

Chase's lips curved at the look in Dru's eyes as he approached. Seeing the effect he had, without even having touched her, was a thrill that affected more than his blood, but sent his chest constricting as his lungs expanded. He found that he'd missed her.
Chase sat beside Dru, close enough that his thigh pressed to hers, and slipped his arms around her in greeting. Already, his body was demanding more, but he told himself to wait, that he needed to at least say hello first. Still, he couldn't resist dipping his head to press his lips against the sweet spot on the side of her neck. "I've been looking for you," he murmured.

Dru smiled broadly at Chase and threaded her arms around him when he sat down. Her eyes closed reflexively when his lips touched her skin and one arm fell, the other stayed warpped around his back. His words sent a thrill racing down her spine, "I've been thinking about you." And there, in his arms, she felt such a wave of guilt for what she had done, how she had acted, in the common room, that she couldn't meet his eyes just yet.

Chase wasn't interested in eye contact at the moment. He was happy enough where he was that it was all he could do to form a verbal response. "What have you been thinking?" he asked absently. He fully intended to listen, but in the meantime, letting himself relax, letting himself part his lips against her neck and taste her, was far much temptation to resist. There was no guilt here, no wondering what he was doing, just the soft press of her body.

Dru smiled softly, "About the masquerade. And how much I like being with you." It felt like a confession, or maybe it felt like a lie. Perhaps both, she did enjoy being with him, but, no matter how she tried, she couldn't tell herself she didn't enjoy being with Silver. It was almost too much for her. She leaned slightly into him, trying to push back the continually resurfacing thoughts.

Having her so close, in his arms and, as far as he knew, perfectly happy to be there, was an aphrodesiac in itself. Chase's arms firmed around her for one brief moment before his hands shifted, palms flat against her back, then parting to reacquaint themselves with her curves. "I've missed being with you," Chase said, the words slightly muffled against her skin. His lips began to trace a path up the side of her neck, purposefully distracting. All in all, it was likely obvious he'd missed her, and that he hadn't been with anyone else since the last time they'd met.

Dru closed her eyes, away from him it was so easy to forget how good it really did feel to be with him. Her hand trailed up his back to venture up into his hair, stroking through the hair at the base of his neck. "Me too," she said, smiling as she felt his lips trail up her neck. For the moment she was content to let herself try to forget her problems, letting her other hand rest on his thigh.

Any further words felt redundant, so Chase didn't bother with them. He concentrated on the feel of her hands placed intimately against him, and the taste of her as his lips found hers. He didn't rush, but savored her, though the tension in his muscles prodded him to stop wasting time. He had plenty of time, and as his hands slipped beneath the edge of her shirt, he reminded himself of that. She wasn't going anywhere.

Dru returned his kiss, what else was there for her to do? Her hands seemed frozen against him, unable to move even if she wanted to move them. It didn't take long for her to forget to think, especially about what had been bothering her before he had come up to her. For the moment she was fine with his hands under her shirt, though she knew that she wouldn't be able to let him go too far while out by the lake.

Chase had no such inhibitions. He hadn't seen anyone else as he'd headed toward the lake, and he considered whatever trees might be nearby to be plenty of cover. So he let the kiss deepen, let his hands wander where they wanted to go, and tested his own patience by forcing himself to go slow when he wanted so much more. Still, he worked toward that goal, giving and taking pleasure with no thought whatsoever toward stopping.

Dru's hands were able to move after a few long moments and she let her fingers dip underneath the hem of Chase's shirt. She arched into his hands, those hands that made her shiver when they just brushed against her, much less when he touched her like he was. A soft sound came from her throat bred of the long time apart mixed with the uncertainty and the instant connection they seemed to have.

Chase's skin burned where Dru touched him, and he inhaled sharply, his muscles tensing against her. His brows knitted at the sound she made, and his control began to crack. One hand curved against her, giving as much with his caress as he took, and the other lowered, sliding against her down to the fastening of her trousers. He was still taking his time, still holding back the intensity, but the intent was all there, and rapidly expanding.

Dru sighed, the different parts of her going to war over the motion of his hand, and after a moment the logical side won out. "Not here," she said breathlessly when she pulled away, though she barely put enough distance between them to break contact, her lips still brushed his when she spoke. The Masquerade had been different, they had been closed in on all sides and the possibility of someone walking in on them had been very slim.
