Belle was sitting on the grass right by the lake. It was a Saturday afternoon. She supposed that she should be doing her homework, but at the moment she really didn't wish too.
In actuality, she was reliving that night in the shrieking shack with Liam. She still had no idea what to make of it, but she wasn't really questioning her feelings for him. She'd had a really hard time trusting guys in the past, and in truth, she still did. But she did feel like she could trust Liam.
She sighed as she picked at the grass, the sun shining on her blond hair. she was merely enjoying herself, and it had been awhile sine she'd actually been genuinely happy.

Liam had been walking down the path that pointed to the lake, yet seemed to freeze up when he saw that Belle was already there. He wanted to sit next to her, but he was hesitating, but to cover this up, he knelt down and tied one of his shoes to buy some time.

Belle seemed to realize Liam was there even before he came into view, it was weird really. She glanced up to note that he was tying one of his shoes. Her attention went back to the lake, not sure what to say really. She was still a little shy around him.
"Hey Liam," she fianlly said a bit cheerfully. Her attention was still directed out towards the lake.

As Liam tied his shoe, he heard Belle's voice call out to him and he looked up and saw Belle looking at the lake. He stood up and walked to where she was. "Hey Belle." he said a little cheerfully. He sat down next to her, his left sleeve looked odd as there didn't seem to be anything occupying it from the elbow down. Good thing he was sitting to the left of her.

As he sat down next to her, Belle hardly knew what to say. There was so much about each other that they didn't know, yet Belle somehow felt a connection. She felt that Liam had gone through a lot that he hadn't told her.
Yet, she'd gone through a lot that she hadn't told him. And how could she ever tell him? How could she ever tell anyone?
"So, what have you been up to?" she asked. Odd, things were so formal now when she'd kissed him the last time she'd seen him.

Liam didn't know what to say, but he was somewhat nervous that she might end up noticing his arm. He was glad that she made some conversation and smiled a little. "Nothing really. How about you?" he asked. It felt somewhat awkward how formal things were, especially after that kiss.

Belle sensed an undercurrent of things left unsaid between them, and it felt really truly awkward to her. How could a relationship work between them when she wasn't so willing to share her life story? When he wasn't willing to share whatever he'd gone through? Yes, it wasn't the most important aspect to a relationship, but it had her worried. Maybe she worried all too much.
"Oh you know, just been doing the usual. Drawing the things I see, and my lessons," she responded, still awkwardly. She wasn't really regretting kissing him per se, but she was scared.
"So, what brings you down here?" she asked.

Liam nodded and was thinking of why he actually came down to the lake. Had he come just to enjoy the view? He knew he couldn't play his ocarina at the moment, so that was not an excuse. "I guess I came here to get away from all of the stress. I mean, one can only deal with so much pain." he said, biting his tongue to prevent himself from blurting out anything else.

She glanced up at him at his words.
"Pain?" she questioned softly.
"Are you in pain Liam?" she asked. She felt sure that she already knew the response. She'd somehow felt as if he was in pain and wanted to do something about it. But how could she do something about his pain when she held some of her own? Maybe in the process of helping him she'd be able to get rid of her own. Though she was sure that her pain and his pain were totally different things. But maybe not so different.

Liam sighed and knew he would have to explain. This was the anniversary of the slaughter of his mother and father. He hated this day. "I just...hate this day so much..." he started, trying not to let himself cry. "I...I just miss them so much..." he said, somewhat quietly, his eyes shut tight.

Belle listened to his words and gently and quietly put her arms around him to offer comfort.
"Who do you miss Liam?" she asked gently. She wondered if he would talk about it or not. She knew that it would be hard, but maybe it could help to talk about it.
"It's okay to let it out," she added softly.

Liam couldn't speak for a moment as he didn't wish to explain. He felt her arms wrap around him and felt slightly comforted. Still keeping his eyes shut, he wrapped his right arm around her as he couldn't use his left. "My...mother and father..." he started, trying to keep himself calm.

"I'm sorry about your parents," she said finally after a moment of silence in which she could sense that he was trying to keep himself calm. She didn't want to push for the answers unless he wanted to give them to her, but she kept her arms around him, offering whatever comfort that she could.
She wondered if he'd continue, but even if he didn't, she knew that she'd be there for him either way.

Liam heard her apologize and shook his head, as if saying it was not necessary for her to apologize. "They..didn't do..anything wrong.." he said so quietly, yet just enough so that it was audible to Belle. He tightned his eyes as if to block off tears, but this was actually due the pain his breathing caused for him.

She just held him, not saying a word. She knew that it might help him to get it all out, and she just encouraged him to do so by being there. She had no idea what kind of pain he'd been through. At least she'd never lost her parents. She still had her mother. Her father was in prison, but she'd never loved the guy. And she had an amazing stepfather. So she couldn't understand what it was like to lose everything. But she felt like she understood Liam anyway.
