"I know." Mari said under her breath. She let out a deep breath to calm herself down. She could answer his question now. "I was born in Puerto Rico. My mom and I eventually moved to Italy to live with her sister and then back to Puerto Rico." It was a start. She paused to see if he wanted her to continue.
