"Ojos que no ven, corazón que no siente." Mari said in a sigh. It was an old saying that her uncle once used to describe her. "I told you this before. I am not used to being someone's girlfriend. It will take some time."

Larten sighed " I will wait a million years to be with you Mari " said looking at her and giving her a passionate and deep kiss .

Mari turned her head away from the kiss. She was still a little mad. She crossed her arms. "El que la sigue, la consigue.." She muttered loud enough for him to hear. "It's not that easy. You're going to have to work a little bit harder for my forgiveness and trust. A million years might be a little excessive, but I don't know what to do with you yet."

Maybe she was being a little bit more harsh than she should be, but after her father left her and her mom it was hard for her to ever forgive guys. She wasn't able to look at a guy and not see the same bastard that used to be her father. Her eyes flickered over to the tree. Her tree. The etchings were still there. That brought some relief. "You don't understand." She said. How could he?

Mari hated herself for being like this. "UGh! I'm sorry. I'm being a bitch. I hate that I'm being like this." She turned her face to look at him. "Please don't cry." She refused to cry. He wouldn't ever understand. Not even if she told him why she acted like this. No one would.

"Look, Larten." Mari said sighing. "It takes time with me. Patience. I can't forgive easily, especially when it comes to guys. It has nothing to do with you. Just something that happened a long time ago, but it left its mark."

Mari sighed and gave in. She lied down next to him with her head at the base of the tree. The lopsided heart that she helped carve into the tree so long ago was barely visible through her peripheral vision. She remembered the day and questioned if it had been as real as she made herself believe.

Larten smiled and put his arm around her . He pulled her close ....He never wanted to let go of her . " Mari..." he said softly . It really wasent to get her attention but just to say her name.

Mari closed her eyes and repositioned her self so her head was resting on his stomach. The heart was even more visible now that Mari turned her head a little to see it better. She raised her hand and let it trail over the initials softly.

Mari let her hand fall. So much had changed since then, but she could remember everything vividly. She was so young, so innocent, so sure it was the right thing. And now, she cringed at the very thought of it. Marriage, Relationships, it was all worthless to her. None of it meant anything. Not anymore.
The massage felt good on her shoulders. She thought she could've avoided what happened three years ago. She told herself that so many times after everything had ended. It could've been avoided. Those four words were all she could think about back then. It had been so hard. And now she was about to walk right into again. She wasn't sure if she could let herself do that.
