Jace was irritated. More then a little bit. He'd been hearing things about Kadie and some guy. He was more then a little bit hurt. He was supposed to be Kadie's best friend! And she had not told him a thing. He was so angry. He'd owled Kadie to meet him here, and he was going to get down to the bottom of things. He was not going to let Kadie see some guy that he didn't even know. No guy was good enough for her.
She'd just end up hurt again. Why the hell was she doing this? He'd heard that she was happy, and he was glad for that, but he was also envious that he wasn't the one who got her out of her unhappy slump. No, the guy who was partly responsible, he didn't even know! Yeah, he really was not pleased.
He ordered some coffee, for himself and for her. He knew what she liked after spending a whole lifetime as her best friend. He patiently waited, telling himself not to get too angry.

Kadie knew that she was going to get the third degree. She knew that Jace had already gone to see Cassie about it. She'd wanted to tell Jace about it. The truth was, she was scared that Jace might not approve. While she never cared what anyone thought, she cared what Jace thought, especially after her brother died. Jace had sort of become that figure to her that she'd lost, and she really needed him to be okay with this.
The truth was, she knew that he wouldn't be okay with Jacob for a long time. He was just that protective. He wouldn't be okay with Jacob even if Jacob acted perfectly nice. He wouldn't be okay for awhile. So that was why she was keeping the two guys that she cared most for in the world, separate. At least for now, though it was wrong to think that way.
She entered and smiled as she saw that Jace had already ordered her coffee. She slid in opposite him and gave him a hesitant smile.
"So, how goes it?" she asked.

He smiled as she slid into the booth and then asked her question.
"That's all you have to say for me is how goes it?" he questioned her with a quirk of his eyebrows.
"How about, sorry Jace for not telling you sooner about...............well, what's his bucket?" he asked getting straight to the point. But what was the point of beating around the bush? Kadie never did either.

Kadie showed no expression on her face. She really in fact had been expecting this.
"There's really nothing to tell yet. We're not really an item per se," she responded confused herself about the whole thing. The only thing she wasn't confused about was her feelings for the guy.
"But if saying I'm sorry will make you feel any better, then yes, I'm sorry," she responded sincerely.

Jacob had never been caught dead in a coffee shop before, but things seemed to be different nowadays. He really didn't care what people thought of him anymore, a side effect from dating the former "Snow Queen" he figured. As Jacob entered the shop, he smiled as he caught sight of Kadie. He was about to walk over to her when he noticed the guy she was sitting with. It seemed like they were having a bit of a tense conversation, and if Jacob really thought about it, he already knew what it was they were talking about. He chuckled, and shook his head a little, going over to the counter and getting some coffee, but still unable to keep his eyes off Kadie.

"Well, you look more happy then I've seen you in a long while, so that's something," he said grudgingly.
Jace got extremely distracted as some guy entered the shop and kept looking at Kadie. He folded his arms and glared at the guy.
"So, that'd be him would it?" he asked nodding his head in Jacob's direction.

Kadie turned at Jace's question, following his gaze. She immediatley smiled as she saw Jacob. She beckoned with her head, motioning for him to come over.
"Yes, that'd be him. Now you be nice," she said sternly.
She turned her attention back to Jacob, that cheerful smile still on her face. She really hoped that Jace wouldn't be too mean. But if he was, Kadie would just get angry, and he probably knew that. So she knew that he'd probably at least try for her.

Jacob smiled back at Kadie, but he approached their table a little apprehensively. He slid in next to Kadie, and immediately took her hand, while taking a sip of his coffee. He looked at the man in front of him, and smiled. "Hi, I assume you guys were taking about me, as you kept looking over. I'm Jacob, nice to meet you." Jacob smiled at Kadie. "And it is always a pleasure to see you hun."

Jay pursed his lips a little as the guy came over, but he was going to try to be nice for Kade's sake.
"Likewise," he said with a nod. He kept glancing at Kadie though, and it wasn't difficult to see that she was happy. He was just having a hard time letting go, was all. He felt sort of replaced, which was silly. He was still Kadie's best friend.
"So, how did you two meet?" he asked casually. Though really this wasn't casual at all. This was the third degree, no matter how subtly he was going into it.

Kadie smiled as he slid in next to her and took her hand.
"It's great to see you too," she replied with a grin. She then looked at Jace at his question.
"We met at the lake, I was a complete ass like I usually am, but he still stayed," she replied with a laugh. She was a little bit nervous. But not too much. She knew that Jace would end up approving with time. She knew that it was just difficult for him, cause for so long now he'd been the only guy she could trust.

Jacob smiled at Kadie's reply, and then turned to her friend. "Indeed. She was cold, and mean, and called herself the Snow Queen, which I guess was standard behavior before me, but I don't know. I kind of just found her endearing, and so I stuck around, and eventually she warmed up to me, and let her whole Snow Queen image go."

Jace couldn't help but laugh.
"Yeah, she was pretty heartless," he said with a grin as he nudged her.
"Or at least, she tried to be," he added. He was still a little bit envious that Jacob was the one to get her to let go of her whole Snow Queen thing, but it was what it was. Guys that girls ended up falling for ended up doing a lot for girls.
He sipped at his coffee.
"Well, lots of guys have failed to do what you just did, so I guess I've got to give you points for that," he commented.

Jacob smiled at the relationship that he and Kadie seemed to have. It was nice to know that Kadie could still carry on such a relationship during her Snow Queen phase. "Well, I am sure that having you around helped her alot. Stopped her from being a complete Snow Queen."

Kadie smiled, simply letting the boys talk. She squeezed his hand gratefully at his last comments. Oh yeah, Jacob would def get points for that. She laid her head down on his shoulder, mostly ignoring her coffee, which was quite something for her since she was known as the coffee junkie.
"You know, you guys are talking like I'm not here or something," she quipped with a grin to show that she didn't care. She simply kept her head on Jacob's shoulder, and her hand in his.

He smiled at Jacob's words.
"Yeah well. It's a tough job, but someone had to do it," he replied with an easy grin. He started laughing at Kadie's words.
"Nah Kade, we'd never talk about you as if you weren't here. But you are worth talking about."
"Anyway, I guess you're okay. Any guy who makes Kadie happy is okay by me. But just so you know, you hurt her? I'll kick your ass," he added. He wasn't completely sold on the idea of Kadie having a relationship, but he was trying to be supportive, and the guy really did seem okay.
