Vannah would have gone, but something made her stop. Maybe it was the pleading she heard in his voice. "Why not, Ryan? Why shouldn't I leave?" She asked closing her eyes. She didn't bother turning around to face him.

Ryan looked at her, his heart breaking some before he could even say the words "I will leave her. Then next time she comes down here to see me I will end it with her."

Vannah opened her eyes and sighed. She turned around and climbed into the bed again, this time facing him. She held his face in her hands and kissed him.

Vannah took his hand and held it in hers, squeezing it. Her head was placed gently on the bed across from his. A part of her wondered if he really would do it, but then the other part of her told that part to shut up and stop worrying.

Ryan held her hand and tried to think of how he would end up telling gabby, and as he thought of it a tear ran down his cheek.

"It's not supposed to be easy." Vannah pointed out. "But it'll be for the better in the end." She said smiling. The thought of having Ryan back made her feel lighter.

"That was a mistake, an error in judgment. I thought it would be better. For both of us. Every time I saw you I saw him too. I couldn't put you through that kind of hell." Vannah explained. "I promise." She finally whispered squeezing his hand.

Vannah ran her fingers through his hair. It was soft, completely dry now. She noticed he was wearing a shirt that didn't belong to him. His clothes must still be down at the lake along with hers. "I can bring you new clothes." She said. His shorts may have not had enough time to dry.
