Liam walked into the green houses hoping to get away from everyone else. The train ride was not very good, and the common room did not help. When Liam saw the many flowers and plants around him, he felt comforted. It reminded him of his home and made him feel like he was back home. He found a bench that was near many roses and sat down, relaxing and taking in the many wonderful aromas.

Dru didn't usually go into the greenhouses, on the rare occasion she came down she only sat outside, but she had decided it would be interesting to see the flowers and plants that she had only seen through the walls up close. The roses drew her to them and it was only when she came closer that she saw someone that she didn't know. He looked peaceful and she didn't want to interrupt, but she was already practically on top of him, "Sorry, I didn't mean..." she trailed off, taking a step back as if to leave.

Liam was surprised as Dru walked in and spoke to him. He did not notice her until she did speak. "I-It's alright..I didn't know.....someone else was...here..If you need...me to..I'll leave." he said, his english sounding broken, as if he was not used to speaking in that language. He had his ears hidden behind his hair, and his left sleeve seemed to conceal his left arm. There was no hand visible there, which made the left sleeve look longer than the right. He stood up and was nervous. If he had to, he would leave the greenhouses.

Dru barely noticed his sleeve, more interested in his broken English. "No, no, you don't have to go unless you really want to. It would be wrong of me to make someone leave such a nice place." She smiled timidly, he was quite a bit taller than her, but seemed nervous. "Are you new?" she asked, looking up at him, she was positive that if she had seen someone like him before she would have remembered.

Liam smiled nervously aswell. This person seemed to be friendly, yet he was still unable to trust anyone, so he did not make any attempts to make friends. "That...makes sense..." he said, answering Dru's reply. He then heard her question and was honest with his answer. "Uma, amin winya" he replied, meaning to say 'Yes, I am new' but as this was reflexive, he did not think of speaking in english.

Dru tilted her head up at him, her eyebrows coming together as she tried to place the sound of the language. "I'm sorry, what language is that?" she asked, she didn't recognize it, which was odd, considering she had heard the vast majority of the world's languages spoken at least in passing or on the television.

Liam blushed a little as he was told he had spoken in his native language. He had wanted to keep his heritage a secret, but he failed miserably. "It's..elven...My native language..." he said, looking down at his feet in embarrasment.

Dru was caught by surprise by the answer, and her eyes widened, when she spoke her voice was soft. "Oh, that's amazing, I've never heard it before." Truthfully, she hadn't been aware that there were elves other than house elves. But it made sense, didn't it? Everything else that she had once thought purely fantasy was real.

Liam was surprised at Dru's reaction. "Not......really...It's not....all that great.." he said, not taking any pride as to what he was or where he was from. He was elven, so what? That did not mean he was any more of a student than anybody else. It was difficult for him to speak english, which was apparant even now. "Please...don't tell anybody...else about it." he said, not wishing for the whole school to know.

"No, I like languages. I mean, if you've grown up speaking it, then I can see why it's no big deal. I won't tell anyone, promise." Dru didn't know why someone would want to hide what they were, but she supposed she could understand a little. The muggle born girls, at least, would have such preconceived ideas of what an elf was supposed to be. Even so, she couldn't help her eyes from darting up to his ears, no matter how much she tried to keep them from doing so.

Liam could tell she was staring at his ears, which made him feel more and more nervous. He didn't blame Dru as many have stared at his ears before. "Th-Thank you.." he said, one of the only phrases he could say without pausing to find the correct word.

"I'm sorry," Dru said when she noticed his nervousness, looking down at the ground. "I didn't mean to stare." She fell into an awkward silence, wishing she hadn't even come into the greenhouse. She chewed her lips and put her hands in her pockets, wishing that if she couldn't take back coming into the greenhouse, that she could at least restart the conversation.

"Oh...it's...alright.." he said, blushing a little. He decided to try making a new conversation. "Have....you tried out for.....quidditch?" he asked, sounding curious. He wanted to know who was part of the other teams as he felt that if he did, he could keep watch on them or wish them luck.

Dru looked back up at him and smiled a little, "Yeah, beater. You?" She hoped that it would be a safer point of conversation than the previous, it had been a disaster. She made a point to keep her eyes on his face, if she looked at him.

"Keeper...I guess I...got lucky during try-outs..." he said, remembering how he caught the final ball. It was very lucky, yet it was funny also. He then thought about what the beaters did. Oh boy. "Well, I gues....I'd need to avoid....your line of fire." he said, making a joke.
