Silver grinned, a smile that brightened his face. "You must be the luckiest girl ever," he said, the words out of his mouth before his mind started working on other interpretations. "Not to be stepped on," he ammended hasitly. That was usually something couples said, wasn't it? He diverted his gaze from Cassie's, unsure whether to harrass himself for his poor phrasing, or pretend he hadn't said anything and hope for the best.

Cassie laughed softly. "My friends always said I was lucky, but I've spent years avoiding getting stepped on" Cassie said as she moved away from Silver and sat down with her back to a tree. She tilted her head up so she could look at Silver and gestured for him to sit down. "Maybe I should give you lessons" she teased as seh kicked off her shoes. Once he got past his shyness Silver had a likeability factor that just made Cassie want to sit and talk with him.

Silver had a moment of regret for the loss of physical contact, but sat anyway, watching Cassie now, not quite as heisitantly. "It's at your own risk," he said again, teasing her just a little back. At that moment, he evied his brother the ability to talk to people. He looked around a second, locating his book for the sake of not just leaving it in the forest, but left it there, by the tree he'd been sitting against.

"I could always claim compensation" Cassie teased. "I have rather a weakness for chocolate frogs" Cassie admitted with a smile. She smoothed her hair and looked around briefly before returning her attention to Silver. "So where are you from? I can tell you're not English am I right?" she asked, hoping she was, otherwise she had just made a fool of herself.

"Yeah, American," Silver said, making a firm mental note to stock up on chocolate frogs when he went to Hogsmeade. "Me and Dare went to South West Institute of Magic, down in California. We grew up there..." He trailed off, then realized he had and started trying to think of something intelligent to say.

"Oh wow, I've taken several family trips to America, a couple to California and I loved it" Cassie said, filling in the silence quickly. She was about to ask why he moved here when she realised that it might be a bit of a personal question, so she left it, deciding to tell him a bit about her. "Well I grew up here, and even though I'm pureblood I went to a performing arts college to train as a dancer. Then I moved here as my parent's felt that I should receive more magical training that their tutoring" Cassie said briefly, not really delving into the past, but she would if he asked.

"Really," Silver asked, interested in the story behind the story. "You're Pureblood, and your parents sent you to a Muggle school? That's...unusual, if you don't mind me saying." From what he knew about Purebloods, specifically his father's family, anything Muggle-related was usually taboo. He'd known other Pureblood families as well, and in general, they were much the same. He could understand her parents insisting that she receive more magical education, but the Muggle college was a surprise. "You must be very close with your parents," he guessed.

Cassie nodded, "I am, when I was a little girl I fell in love with dancing, so when the time came to choose when I was 11, I was offered a place here and at one of the best performing arts colleges in the country, maybe the world. My parents said I could choose, and it was incredibly tough. I decided to take the place at college, and my parents tutored me in my spare time. It was incredibly challenging but it was worth it." Cassie explained, telling him a bit more about her earlier life. "No one at college knew I had magic and I chose to come here at the start of the year as I can dance afterwards, but I need my magical qualifications." Cassie finished, looking at Silver with an easy smile. She was talking more than she had done for a long time, and she thought that it must be because she felt so relaxed around Silver. "I'm sorry if I'm talking alot, but you're easy to talk to" Cassie said.

"Oh, thanks," Silver said, his smile returning at the compliment. His gaze flickered away a moment, but couldn't stray for long. He looked back at Cassie, at the gold of her hair, then caught himself and worked to focus back on what they'd been talking about. What had they been talking about? He was about to curse his absentmindedness when he recalled.
"It must have been difficult hiding magic for so long," he said at last. You had to respect dedication like that. Thinking about it, he'd have done the same, if it meant not writing anymore. Still, it would have been so difficult, near impossible at times. He didn't know if he could have done it, but he'd have tried.

"It was, I had to do everything the muggle way. I learnt quickly though, if I hadn't I would have stuck out like a sore thumb." Cassie said, playing with her hair, a habit of hers. "So what about your writing prose or poetry?" she asked, turning the focus back of herself, she wasn't self centered and although Silver seemed quite shy she didn't want to be the only one talking.

"Oh, well, a lot of stuff, whatever I feel like," he said, maybe a little caught off-guard at having the attention swing back to him. "I'm mostly writing poetry right now, but sometimes I write short stories or just thoughts. It depends on what I feel like." He had several notebooks in his trunk that said he usually felt like something, and it was true. Except for the occasional bout of writer's block, he wrote like it was going out of style.

Cassie nodded, listening intently to what he was saying. She looked at his notebook that was lying on the ground, qondering if it would be rude to ask if she could have a look, she knew that some writers could be extremely touchy about their work.

Silver's gaze followed Cassie's, since she'd fallen silent. His eyes lit on the book, and he mentally went through the contents, deciding if there was anything within the pages that could be incriminating, anything dangerous. But no, he'd only had it a couple days, and about everything had to do with moving, with starting over. You can handle a little criticism, he told himself.
He leaned over, grabbing the book and pulling it toward himself as he straightened, turning to look at Cassie. "You want to take a look?" he asked, nerves creeping up despite the offer. He knew it was nothing, that she'd just look, but it was all such a part of him, so revealing, if you knew what you were looking for, that he couldn't help his reaction.

Cassie nodded and took the book off him, thanking him with a smile. She flipped it open and started to read, taking in every word he had written. She bit her lip softly in concentration and smiled at the odd phrase. After she had read several pages she looked up, "This is good" she said softly.

Silver's nerves melted a little with the compliment, and his lips curved into a smile. "Thanks," he said. Emboldened, he shifted toward her, looking at the one she'd just finished to refresh his memory. "I started that one yesterday. I know, it's a little abstract, but I've really been getting into free verse lately. Philosphical stuff." If she'd already said it was good, then he wasn't going to insult it. There was no use playing down something that had already been read and approved of, so he just let himself enjoy it.
