Cassie propped herself up on her elbows. "I love reading, no wonder I'm in Ravenclaw" Cassie said with a smile. "I draw and paint as well sometimes, but my life is about dancing" she smiled and dipped her head at his comment about not being able to dance. "Oh I'm sure that's not true" she admonished him. "Everybody can dance" she added.

Silver's lips spread into a self-deprecating smile, his eyes shimmering with laughter. "You've never seen me dance," he said. "I'm a disaster. Give me a quill and parchment and I'm pretty safe, ask me to keep a rhythm..." he shrugged again, his eyes still bright. "You're taking your feet's lives into your own hands," he finished. So he tended not to dance when anyone was around, for the principle that they'd never take him seriously if they saw him.

Cassie sighed and stood up, dusting herself off. She offered her hand to Silver. "Come on, I will prove to you that you can dance" she said, waiting for him to stand up. She smiled at him, letting him know that she wouldn't laugh at him, she just wanted to help him. He was a nice guy and Cassie felt rather protective over him, a new feeling for her.

Silver looked up at Cassie a moment, his breath catching. But what was he supposed to do? Refuse on the grounds that if he touched her, he'd explode from nerves? He could almost hear Dare chiding him, calling him chickennuts.
That was just the prod he needed; Silver got to his feet, all six lanky feet of him, more aware of Cassie's smaller frame than he hoped she had any clue of. "Don't say I didn't warn you," he said, facing her, but unsure what else to do.

Cassie shook her head, "Don't worry I trained as a dancer for years, and spent half of those years teaching" Cassie said, "I have toes of steel" she joked. Cassie paused for a moment, wondering what the best way to do this would be, he was a few inches taller than her, and Cassie had never been described as short. She smiled at him reassuringly and stepped closer to him. She guided one of his hands to her slender waist and placed her own on his shoulder. Clasping their other hands together, she just stood there, letting him get accustomed to the feel of her. "Does that feel ok?" she asked, hoping that she hadn't placed him uncomfortably at all.

Silver's body had seized, frozen at the intimate feel of his hand at her waist, the other pressed palm-to-palm to hers. He made a choked sound somewhere between a nervous laugh and an actual word, then cleared his throat, praying beyond hope that she thought the two sounds were related to something other than physical desperation. "It's fine," he managed, not moving at all, lest his hand should slip somewhere it shouldn't.

"Good" Cassie said with a smile. She could feel how tense he was and he seemed pretty nervous but she just put it down to him feeling shy and awkward about dancing. "Now just relax and move your left foot back a pace" she said gently, keeping her voice level and calm so Silver in turn would stay calm.

Silver hoped it wasn't obvious that he felt like a complete and utter tool, or that his blood was racing so quickly it felt like it would shoot out of his veins if he let it. He couldn't relax, so he didn't try, knowing that any attempt to fight his nerves would only make him jittery. But he picked up his foot obediently and set it down again, craning his neck over his shoulder to make sure he didn't trip over a rock or something equally heinous. With his foot settled, he looked back at Cassie, brows rising a bit as though asking for confirmation.

Cassie followed Silver, moving her left foot forward. She supressed a smile, technicalities were fine, technique could be improved, yet she kept a calm countenance. "Great, now just step forward, but not to where you started, step further than that to where my foot started ok?" she asked, hoping he would understand. She picked her foot up, not wanting him to tread on it by acident because it would hurt her and embarrass him.

That sounded more complicated. How was he supposed to do this without treading all over her? He was still incredibly aware of the fact that he was holding a girl, even if it was completely, obliviously innocent on her part, and it was a distraction, albeit one he wasn't ready to give up. When was he going to have another chance like this again? He knew he wasn't the kind of guy that girls flocked to.
Silver forced himself to move, unable to stumble over Cassie simply because she'd thought ahead enough to prevent it. He still wasn't sure what he was learning this way, but he kept his reservations to himself. She was the dancer, not him. She knew what they were doing a lot better than he did.

"Great, you haven't stepped on me yet" Cassie said with a smile, trying to relieve the tense atmosphere. "Now repeat what you did with your left foot, with your right, so back a step, then forward, that sound ok?" she asked, looking up at him to see if he was ok. She wondered if her eyes would unsettle him, not many people were faced with eyes that frequently changed colour and as Cassie had no control over them as far as she knew, she had no idea what colour they could be.

Silver grinned at Cassie's assurance; no, he hadn't stepped on her yet, and that was a major victory, even considering how slow they were moving. Of course, there wasn't any music, and he was just following directions, so it really wasn't that bad. He took another two steps, still managing not to crush her feet and feeling victorious for it. His eyes moved to hers, and his grin turned into a somewhat awkward smile, but he rested assured she couldn't read his mind, and so he was safe.

Cassie grinned, blushing a litle, her few short weeks at the castle had told her what that smile meant. "Good, so repeat everything but faster ok?" she asked, getting back to business. She looked down at their feet, if she ended up with bruised feet she wouldn't be able to dance for days and then she would not feel kindly towards Silver.

"Faster?" Silver repeated. "We're doing fine..." It was a sad attempt, but the faster they moved, the higher the risk of him stumbling, and he really didn't want to crush her. So he took her lead and watched their feet, momentarily cursing his hair for getting in the way but entirely unwilling to release Cassie and push it back. He'd decided he liked his hands where they were, and he was just going to enjoy it while it lasted. So he moved his feet as carefully as he could, while trying to keep up with Cassie.

Cassie sped up a little, but didn't move too fast. All she was trying to do today was to prove that Silver could dance. Confident that her feet were safe she looked up at Silver, a smile on her face. "See, you're dancing, okay so it is pretty simple, but your dancing with me and my feet aren't being crushed." Cassie said brightly as she let them slow down again.
