"So what made you decide to write for the Prophet?" he asked, his eyes pulled back to her section in the paper. He glanced over at her, flicking his eyes in her direction, before looking back at the paper and turning a page, seeing Ryan's disclaimer at the top of his article.

Gabby quickly secured her long dark hair in a plait and then tucked the end under to keep her wait hair off her neck. "I saw that they wanted an Agony Aunt," Gabby began, then paused briefly before continuing. "I've always been the one my friends come to if they need help or advice and I thought that I might as well do that for everyone. I'm a good listener and discreet as well." Gabby added on the end, she didn't know why she did but she felt that it should be said.

Michael gave a small smile and glanced up at her, "So that means no asking you who wrote the question, right?" He laughed lightly and looked back at the sports article, reading a sentence or two before deciding he really didn't care about muggle sports other than that football thing that Anna had showed him and finding something else to read.

"That's right," Gabby said, "I'm morally obliged to keep the identity of any people who write in a secret." she elaborated, then felt there was a purpose behind the question. "Why?" She asked, waiting to carefully studying him response.

"Just a feeling," he said cryptically, his eyes sparkling. "Do you get a lot of submissions?" Michael wondered how many people actually trusted someone they'd never met before with their secrets.

"Honestly?" Gabby said looking up at him, "The one you're looking at is my first and only one so far," Gabby admitted. She wished more people would write in, she wanted to help yet she didn't know how to persuade people that she could help.

"You'll get some more," Michael assured her. "It'll take some time for them to start sending them in, but once your advice starts working and the word spreads you'll get some." If he had something, he'd send it in, but he couldn't think of anything.

Gabby smiled at him, "Thanks for the vote of confidence, I do have to ask myself why I'm here sometimes, I've only been back 2 weeks and already half the slytherins hate me." Gabby gave Michael a rueful smile.

Michael smiled at her, "Join the club." Granted, the most active Slytherins had no problem with him, but the ones that had went into hiding, the ones that hid in the shadows, those were the ones that hated him. "I wouldn't take it too personally, most of the Slytherins that you've probably met have some serious personal issues going on." The only ones he ever saw around were Storm, Vannah, and Chase.

"Well I suppose Vannah has a reason to hate me," Gabby said laughing at the memory of that night by the lake.

"Vannah has reason to hate a lot of people," Michael said softly, then turned his face towards the lake. He wondered if she ever hated him for not stopping Emilian before.... his thoughts trailed off and he looked back at Gabby. "Why does she hate you?"

Gabby smiled, "A couple of nights ago I couldn't sleep so I had come down here to try and, I don't know, relax. Anyway, while I was here I met several people, Storm Vannah and someone else, Jesse I think. Well Vannah and I didn't exactly see eye to eye and I sort of used several spells against her." Gabby laughed at the memory although there was a bitter after taste to the humour.

Michael stared at the girl in disbelief, "You pulled a wand on a Slytherin? An older Slytherin nonetheless. She has a right to hate you, that wasn't a smart move." Either Gabby was really naive when it came to when and when not to use a wand, or she was just really stupid.

"Well at the time I didn't know who it was, it was dark and I had been awake half the night, I was not in a good mood. The spells I used though were pretty funny." Gabby smiled and shrugged, "I'm still in one piece and I also managed to rescue their next victim as well."

"I don't care what kind of mood you were in or what kind of spells you used. You don't go around jinxing people you just met." From Michael's experience that kind of thing never went over well. "You can't do it out there," he gestured to outside the school's grounds, "So what makes you think you can do it in here?"
