Gabby was a bit taken aback at this abrupt answer. But chose not to push it, guessing that it wouldnt be very warmly received. Gaby had no idea what to say so she stayed mute, hoping that Michael would fill in the silence.

Michael stayed silent for a few long moments, thinking back in time. He unconsciously tugged on his left sleeve, even though it was long he was still paranoid it may come up and reveal the dark blemish on his skin. "So is Ryan the only of those guys you've met?" She hadn't said anything when he mentioned Chase or Emilian, but there could be reasons for that other than she had never met them.

"I've never met Chase. But I have met Emilian," Gabby's eyes flared with anger at the remembrance of their meeting. "It wasn't very pleasant and I don't wish to repeat it anytime soon." Gabby glanced at Michael, taking in his appearance, wondering if he was another of those boys to look out for.

Michael looked over at her and smiled, "Good, stay away from him." Even though he didn't really know the girl, he could warn her against him. "Let Adara keep him, she seems to be keeping him out of trouble. He's not a good person." Let Adara keep him. Those words sounded slightly blasphemous to his ears, Anna wanted Adara kept safe. A flash of guilt came over him, but was gone quickly, he hadn't heard of anything bad happening to Adara.

"He's in my house which is odd, I ran into him in the forbidden forest, put me off going back there again." Gabby looked towards the lake and imagined the feel of the cool water. She really wanted a swim but she couldn't right in front of Michael.

"He didn't do anything to you?" Michael asked sharply, looking at her with his eyes narrowed. He estimated she was at least three years younger than he was, a distance which would be even greater to Emilian. But he had never known Emilian to go after a younger person, older was no problem, but he never went more than two years younger. But then, Emilian could have changed, and if the girl was tied to Ryan then Emilian my have wanted to make Ryan even more angry at him.

"No no" Gabby reassured him. "I was with Ryan at the time, he wouldn't have let emilian hurt me after what happened with Vannah."

Gabby had a lot of faith in Ryan, and Michael wasn't going to shoot that faith down. He didn't really think that Ryan could stop Emilian if Emilian put his mind to it. "I didn't think he would have, even Emilian has his limits, but you never know with him."

"I dread meeting him, at the moment I'm having trouble sleepwalking and I always end up in the weirdest places, if Emilina met me then, I wouldn't stand a chance, unless I had my wand, then possibly. My grandmother knew all sorts fo spells, some which aren't taught here." Gabby was getting hotter and sweat trickled down her back, in a minute she wouldn't be able to stand it any longer.

"He'd throw your wand away and use physical force rather than magic." While Emilian was no good with a wand, Michael knew that he was very good at physical force, knowing quite a few pressure points and holds that could quickly overpower pretty much anyone.

"I need a way to control my sleep walking then, and my nightmares as they drive me from my room." Gabby bit her lip, she didn't know why she was talking about this with Michael, she had only known him for a short while.
Gabby was starting to feel a little faint because she was so hot. "I'm sorry," Gabby started. "But I'm boiling, I really need a swim to cool down." Without further ado, Gabby stood up, turned her back to Michael, drew her cape around her birefly and waved her wand. Then she threw off her cape, underneath her clothes had transformed into her favourite bikini. She tucked her wand inside her cape, hoping she could trust Michael and ran towards the lake, when the water was about thigh high she dived underneath to fully submerge herself. She then came to the surface. Gabby's skin was cooled and she felt so much better. She looked back at Michael who she had left on the bank to see his reaction.

Michael watched her, he hadn't been swimming in the lake, even though he had been at the school for so long. Because swimming meant taking off his shirt. And taking off his shirt meant showing his mark. Perhaps one day he would go with Anna. Find one of the places where not many people went, maybe figure out a spell to hide it. He didn't even want Anna to see it, though he knew he couldn't hide it from her forever.

Gabby realised that Michael wasn't going to join her and she felt rather relieved, the last person she had been swimming with was Ryan and everyone knew how that had turned out. Gabby smiled at Michael then dived underneath again twisting and turning revelling in the sensation of the cool water on her flaming hot skin.

Michael watched her for a few seconds before starting to feel a little guilty. Even though he knew that he wasn't watching her with any ideas in his mind, it still felt strange to see a girl in a bikini when his mind was full of thoughts of Anna. He picked up the paper again and started reading the things he had skipped over. The letter to the Agony Aunt could be a lot of different guys at the school so he didn't dwell on it, though he had a nagging feeling that he should recognize it.

Gabby felt refreshed and invigorated after her brief swim, she was even starting to get cold so she swam back to the shore where Michale was sitting and where she had left her wand and cloak. As she left the lake she grabbed up her cloak and pulled it around her to keep her warm, she held her wand in her fingers, twirling it round absent mindedly. She settle back against a tree trunk and sighed, she felt so much better.
