[Annabelle Hennessy]

Annabelle opened the door of the owlery to the now familiar sound of hundreds of owls hooting contently. She looked up and scanned the birds for the small chestnut one she normally borrowed. She frowned when she couldn't find him, and made her way to the windows to be sure he wasn't there. Looking out, she saw the slight drizzle had turned into a full blown storm. Sighing, she decided her letter wasn't important enough to send an owl out in the bad weather.

"I would say you could use mine, but I don't have one," Dru said as she walked in the door, a letter in hand. She smiled as she walked up to Annabelle.

Annabelle smiled in greeting. "Hey Dru. I don't have one either, but it's pouring anyways. I'll just send my letter with an owl later." She paused, chewed on her lip and thought a moment before adding, "Do you have a minute?" She felt like she needed to clear her conscience and tell Dru.

"Yeah, I was hoping to get up here before the weather turned too bad." She looked out the window at the clouds, before turning at the sound in Annabelle's voice. "Yeah, of course." Dru's eyebrows creased, wondering what was up.

Annabelle folded her hands and squeezed her fingers. She didn't know why she felt compelled to tell Dru, or why she was nervous as to what Dru's reaction would be. "Well," she paused again before spilling it. "I met Michael the other day. He seems really nice." Annabelle stopped again, trying to gage Dru's reaction so far.

Dru looked down, "Oh, yeah, he can be...." she said, remembering how he had been when alone with her. She didn't really know what to say to her, why had Annabelle told her? She looked back up at Annabelle, "How is he?" she asked, slightly surprised the question had popped out of her mouth.

Annabelle looked up into the rafters, praying that a bird didn't decide to do his business directly above her. "He's okay I guess, but you're over him aren't you? You're making out with that other guy right?" She didn't pause long enough for Dru to answer, but finished her news before she lost her courage. "We kissed. I wanted to let you know before you heard it through the rumor mill."

Dru's eyes widened and she put a hand back behind her on the windowsill as she thought. She stared at Annabelle, the words not really making sense to her. Why did the idea of him kissing someone else bother her? "Yeah, I'm over him..." she said softly, though unsure. Was she really? Yes, of course she was. "Yeah, so are you two together now?" she asked, suppressing her urge to run and find him.

Annabelle lowered her gaze back to Dru. She didn't think it sounded like Dru was completely over him. "No. Maybe. I don't know. We're supposed to meet up at the three broomsticks." She let out a frustrated sigh. "I didn't mean for this to happen. I was even scared when I found out who he was. But I don't even know if it'd work out if we got together." Because I think he still might have a thing for you. The thought had crossed her mind when she'd replayed their encounter, how he'd been drawing her when they met. She wouldn't mention it to Dru though, that wasn't her business to tell.

Dru started to speak, but stopped herself, thinking it all over. When she finally spoke, she chose her words carefully, "Don't be scared of him....he's really sweet, oh and artistic," she smiled as she thought of his drawings and piano playing, "Don't..." she gave a weak smile, "Don't worry about me, I have Chase." She looked down, trying not to think about how hard it had been to finally get Michael to kiss her, to accept her. What had Annabelle done to get it on the first meeting?

Annabelle's eyes practically popped out of their sockets. "CHASE?? He's the guy that you told me about? The one that was kissing all the girls?" She blushed, embarrassed that she'd fallen under his spell for a moment, but greatful that she'd gotten freaked out and left. She felt lucky that she hadn't run into him again.

Dru's eyes widened, "Um...yeah....." She wasn't really sure how to take the outburst, it was almost a complete change from what they had been talking about. "Why?"

[Annabelle Hennessy]

Annabelle was reluctant to tell Dru about her encounter with Chase, she felt cheap for having kissed him and Michael right after meeting them both, and within a short period of time. "Um, well......This sounds really bad......." She was fidgeting in place; any social graces she normally had had left her. "When you told me about him that day in the library, I guess I was one of those girls you mentioned, unknowingly.....But it wasn't anything really. He hit on me and I gave in....but then I left.....I've never done that sort of thing before." Her voice had trailed off as she spoke until the last bit was barely louder than a whisper.

Annabelle's eyes had wandered to the floor. She regained her composure and she looked back up at Dru with a sense of hope that could be heard in her voice as well. "So you two are together now then?"

Dru gave a sneer, "Don't feel bad about the Chase thing, he's kissed maybe every girl in the school, he's very....seductive." She sighed, looking down. "I really don't know, I've talked to him, convinced him to try and stay with only one girl...me..." She crossed her arms tightly, thinking. The question that had been bothering her finally slipped out quietly, "How did you get him to kiss you so soon? Michael."

Annabelle was surprised at how well Dru took the news abou her and chase. She was so preoccupied by the concept of Chase being the guy running around kissing everyone and Dru taming him, that she almost missed Dru's last comment. "What do you mean?" She asked, not quite understanding why it would be a big deal for them to have kissed already.
