Lafra had her back against a tree looking out into the lake, she back was stiff, but she didn't make any movements to move, she was lost in thought, in her own world, a world of perfection which no one could destroy, it was her sanctuary, and although this did cause a problem for her, she couldn't keep herself from completely submerging herself in her thoughts.

Chase saw the girl not far off and decided that she'd be a good break for his current boredom. At first, she'd looked familiar, but the closer he got, the more he knew he hadn't met her before. He walked up beside the tree she leaned against and murmured, "Knut for your thoughts."

The last thing she needed was someone to interrupt her from her thoughts looking up she gritted her teeth at the Slytherin. "Whats next are you going to ask me how much it hurt when I fell?" sarcasm etched within her words.

Chase gave an overly pained expression, his hands clasping over his heart. "Oh, you wound me!" he exclaimed dramatically. "I just thought you looked lonely." Chase looked at the girl innocently, though his eyes gleamed slightly with repressed humor. "Can't a guy start up a conversation without a girl thinking he's hitting on her?"

She stood up looking up at him her agitated look faded to a forced smile. “Sorry I’ve been on edge a lot lately, names Lafra Seyrrou.” she wasn’t sure what came over her, but she wouldn’t push anyone away anymore, since he approached her, she might as well get to know him. “And your name is?” she asked although she was sure she saw him somewhere, or maybe wiht someone she knew, she pushed it aside and countinued to to look at him hoping that maybe his niame might answer the question.

"Chase Firebrand." Chase extended a hand for a handshake. "Lafra. That's an unusual name." He'd certainly never heard it before. The more he looked at her, the more familiar she looked though. She reminded him of someone. Black hair, gray eyes. She reminded him of Storm.

"My parents are unusual people." she said musing herself. "My name is an enigma actually, rearrange the letters and change an 'a' to an 'e' and you've got flare." she rambled to herself, she had then burst out. "You seem to know me, or at least you look like you've seem my doupleganger." she said sarcastically.

"No, I'm just friendly," Chase said, giving Lafra a roguish wink. He couldn't be sure, since he only knew Storm's first name. May as well ask. "You don't have family in Slytherin, do you?" Chase asked the question as innocently as possible. If the answer was no, he'd drop the subject and move on.

She paused for a moment and bit her lip, she hadn't spoken to her cousin in Slytherin for a long time, and she missed her. A feeling of nostalgia creeping up her arm. "I do." she said. "She's my cousin, our fathers are brothers." she said she was still biting her lip, then a thought came to mind, her cousin did look like her. "Have you seen her, i mean, have you seen someone who looks like me?" she felt like the question was foolish, but she wanted to make sure her cousin was happy.

"Yeah, I've seen her," Chase said, trying to judge Lafra's feelings for her cousin. "She's nice," he said vaguely. "As long as you're not a first year." His lips curved into a bit of a smirk. He'd only ever seen her act like that on their first meeting, and he wondered which side of her was for show; the one that bullied others, or the one that wanted desperately to be loved.

Lafra smiled brightly. "Nice!" she was happy at his comment, she wanted to know more about her cousin and pressed on. "So she's not reserved anymore is she, she's happy right?" she wanted to jump up on the spot eager to find out more.

Chase shrugged lightly. "Sometimes," he said. "Like everyone, I guess." She seemed happy, but she'd confided things in him that made him think otherwise. He wouldn't steal Lafra's happiness away though, and it seemed to make her happy to think her cousin was. "What about you?"

A look of relief crossed her features as she gave him a gratifying smile. "Me... I'm not important, I'll be fine, as long as she's sane I'll live." she bit her lower lip to keep it from trembling, as unsuccessful as this was it still reassured her that she was not dreaming and her cousin was alright. She pushed the thought away and smiled her lower lip ceased to tremble. "So Chase, how did you meet her?" she asked him curiosity overwhelming her.

Chase arched an eyebrow. "She knocked down a first-year in the corridors and I told her to pick on someone her own size." His lips curved into a grin. "She picked on me." Chase looked out over the water a moment before turning back to Lafra. "Haven't seen her do anything like that since. I don't even think she likes it, but I don't know. I've only known her a couple weeks."

Lafra smiled shaking her head at the thought.
"Typical, she portrays herself as something she's not, she really is sweet, just insecure about herself." she then shook the thought away and grinned, painful memories resurfacing and she didn't want to go there.
"So Chase, what are you into?" she asked him lightly steering the conversation as far away from her cousin as possible.
