"No!" She looked away from him, what if he sneaked up behind Emilian and Emilian cursed him? What if Chase used an Unforgivable and a professor saw? But she also wanted Emilian to be put down. "Just be careful," she said, bringing her eyes back to him.

That was a response Chase hadn't expected. He was thrown off by it, but he wasn't about to argue. At least there was someone at this pathetic excuse for a school who had some sense. "I'll be careful," he assured her. He knew better than to let his guard down. He'd cast an Unforgivable in front of half the school. Emilian knew he meant business; he wouldn't be an easy mark.

Dru watched him, she would rather he didn't fight at all, let someone else deal with Emilian, but he seemed dead set on it. "You'd better be," she said, "I don't want to see you like this again." Or any other version of being injured, for that matter.

"You won't." Chase wrapped his arms gingerly around Dru and pulled her as close as the bruising would allow. At least now he could stand upright without difficulty. "Dru, I'm not stupid. And I'm better at charms and hexes than you'd think." He wasn't the stereotypical Death Eater-supporting Pureblood Slytherin, but that didn't mean his parents weren't. He'd been trained well.

"I don't doubt you're good," Dru said, laying her head lightly on his shoulder. "I just worry." She didn't want to see him fight, though at the same time she wanted to be there if something happened. At least he had said he'd be careful, though it didn't make much difference in the worrying of her heart, now she had her mind saying that he'd be fine.

"Don't worry," Chase said again. "Worry is a waste of energy." That, and knowing she worried made him want to do something, but what could he do besides go back out there and get rid of the problem? Chase thought while he held Dru. "If it makes you feel better, you can help me find his weak spot. Besides his wand aim." That was enough of a weak spot for Chase, but maybe it would distract Dru.

"Other than his pride?" Dru asked, ignoring his first words, they both knew that the words wouldn't change what she would do. She couldn't really think of anything, though of course, she had only met him once.

"Arrogance, more likely. The guy was way too excited that I knew who he was." There hadn't been much in the way of conversation after that. "Why is everybody sticking up for that bastard?" Chase wondered aloud. "He raped Vannah, for God's sake! And she told me to let someone else handle it!"

"Maybe they're just hoping he'll go away. I personally would be glad to let Michael deal with him." She knew that Michael could handle it, but why, she wondered for the first time, hadn't he done anything yet? "I know I probably wouldn't be much good in a fight with him, though if I had the chance I'd try my best."

Chase, in a moment of hypocrisy, glared fiercely at Dru. "You're staying away from him. If you see him, go the other way. If he so much as looks at you, hex him in the balls and come get me." Chase's eyes blazed. "I mean it, Dru. Don't just blow him off and hope for the best, it doesn't work on guys like him."

Dru's eyes widened as she looked up at him, "I will, I wasn't planning on hunting him down or anything." She hadn't expected him to be so adamant about her staying away from Emilian. "I'll stay away from him as well as possible." There was no way to guarantee that she wouldn't come in contact with him ever again.

Chase watched Dru's eyes for one long moment before deciding she was taking him seriously. Good. He could also see the worry that she wasn't bothering to hide. "I've seen it happen before, is all. It doesn't turn out well." But there were some things better left unsaid.

"You've seen it happen?" What did that mean? Dru had never been around someone quite like Emilian, though she supposed that if Michael hadn't tried to hide himself from her she would have seen something quite similar.

"A long time ago, long time ago." Made longer by the fact that he didn't want to think about it. Chase gritted his teeth, but decided maybe it'd be better if someone knew. "This guy was pretty much stalking her, but he hadn't gotten caught doing anything, so they just ignored it. He raped her, everyone knew it, but no one pressed charges, and when he did it again...they didn't find her for a few days. She was dead. And the guy got off because no one would talk about it. Nobody said a single f---ing thing about him."

Dru knew that that kind of thing happened, but the idea of it happening at Hogwarts or of it happening to someone she or someone she knew knew had just never crossed her mind. She rubbed a hand over his back, she could tell it wasn't exactly a good memory, "Who was she?" she couldn't help asking.
