Side Effects (Dru and Rhy)

[Dominic Shays]

It had been a long, hard walk down to the Hospital wing, but Dominic knew he needed to be there. He stumbled over to a bed and lay down roughly on it, exhausted. He felt horrible, and knew he probably looked just as bad, if not worse. If he had looked into a mirror he would have seen himself as he was naturally supposed to look, though rather dull and faded looking, tired. He had given up trying to keep up his appearance with his abilities a few days before. The last thought through his mind before he passed out was praying that Dru would get there soon.

Dru walked out of her office having heard a loud thump and creak from a bed. A barely recognizable dark figure was laying across it, seemingly unconscious. She came up to the bed and was shocked to finally recognize Nic, even through his scars. "Nic! What's happened?" she asked, shocked, as she lay a hand on his shoulder, staring down at him with concern in her eyes. She hadn't seen him in so long.

Dominic groaned lightly, but there was a smile on his face, however faint. "You have no idea," he said softly, "How good it is to hear you call me Nic." He pulled his eyelids open and looked up at her. "I went back home a few weeks ago," he said, looking at her slightly apologetically for not informing her that he had left. "Uncle's got his own, he's locked up, but he hit me with...something, probably something new he's thought up, just as Aurors took him. I've been getting worse ever since." The look he then gave her was full of meaning, he didn't want to say what he knew was going to happen.

Dru looked at him, horrified, and let go of his shoulder. "No, there has to be something, a Bezoar, a potion...." she trailed off, wringing her hands together. She couldn't lose him. Even though they hadn't been speaking as often lately, she still felt he was her closest friend.

Dominic reached out and took one of her hands, shaking his head slightly. "No, I found a book of his, there's nothing anyone can do. I've researched and looked up as best I could, and nothing's come up." He hated the look on her face, but what was there to say?

Dru grasped his hand as though it were the only real thing on earth as she knealt down beside the bed. She brought her other hand up and cupped his hand in both of hers. "Nic...." she trailed off, unsure of what to say.

Dominic pushed himself up to sit on the edge of the bed and pulled Dru up beside him. He turned and looked at her, not pulling his hand away. He reached up and put his free hand along her face, "Don't worry about me, ok? I've already, made my peace, so to speak."

Dru felt the backs of her eyes burning, but tried her best to keep the tears from coming as she felt his familiar, but still strange, hand on her cheek. "Are you scared?" she askes softly, looking into his now pale eyes.

Dominic shook his head, it was all he really trusted himself to do at that time. He dropped his hand to hers and sighed. It was proving to be much harder to talk to Dru about it than it had been with Rhy. The look in her eyes made his own throat constrict painfully.

Dru pulled her hands away long enough to pull him into a tight hug. "I'll miss you, so much," she said, her voice slighly muffled as she burried her face in his shoulder.

[Rhyannon Thurman]

Rhyannon came up the Stairs from the great hall.she walked her arms around her chext as if hugging herself she walked up the stairs.She wanted to see Dominic but she was afraid to see him in pain yet again.Her eyes teared to remember her and him curling together on the chair in the common Room.To think that she may never do that again with him.A lonely tear slid down her cheek and she stopped and she wiped it away with her sleeve.she turned and she saw she was in front of the Hospital.she saw a very recongizeable Figure hugging someone.She thought that must be the Dru Dominic had told her about.She smiled and she went in,She came up behind him and she put her hand on his shoulder.The other was still wrapped around her waist.She smiled softly.Her brown eyes not Sparkling anymore more filled with saddness then anything but she forced herself not to cry she had did that in the middle of Breakfast when she left the great hall."Hi Dominic."She said bravely not wanting him to see how bad she felt.

Dominic hugged Dru back, "I know," he said softly. When he felt a hand and heard the familiar voice, he pulled back slightly, trying to give Dru a comforting smile before looking back at Rhy. "Hey, you two haven't met, have you?" he asked in the light voice that had become the norm for him the last little bit.

Dru smiled at him and then dropped her arms, taking his hand once more. "I don't think so," she said, looking from Nic to the other girl. "I'm Dru, Nic and I have been friends a long time." She answered him, trying to not pay attention to how weak his voice sounded just then.

[Rhyannon Thurman]

Rhyannon smiled and she looked at Dru."No we haven't."and she smiled."I am Rhyannon,I have heard a lot about you."She said smiling."I am very happy to be able to meet you at last."

Dominic turned so that he could see the both of them well, keeping Dru's hand in one of his and taking one of Rhy's with the other. "She's my girlfriend, ever since Tifa, ah," he said, looking at Dru, "Left. We've gotten really close," he finished, smiling up at the other girl.
