In a lonely corner in the back of the library, Dru sat, surrounded by books on ancient wizards and civilizations. She was looking through a large, leatherbound book entitled Aztec Wizardry: A Study of the Use of Blood in Ancient Spells by Rahaj Baldwin. A diagram of an ancient wizard with a cloth wrapped around his waist demonstrated draining the blood from a mouse into a cauldron. She scribbled notes on a much used scroll of parchment, every spare inch had been covered in tiny writing, she had been in the library for hours, trying to blank out her mind.

"Mind if I join you?" Annabelle asked, nodding toward an empty chair. Her arms were filled with From Egg to Inferno, A Dragon Keeper's Guide, Advanced Potion-Making and A Study of Recent Developments in Wizardry. She had already learned so much on the use of dragons for potion ingredients but the topic still intreged her. She glanced around the table to the various books scattered about, hoping she wasn't disturbing her.

Dru looked up and smiled, "Not at all." She quickly skanned the binds of the books the girl was holding, "An interesting set of books," she commented, then thought of the titles laying before and beside her, books about sacrifices and ancient curses, "But of course, I'm not one to talk," she said, laughing softly.

Annabelle returned the laugh as she settled into the seat. "Are you working on a project? Or just entertaining a bit of light reading?" To most, the question would be considered a joke, but to Anna it was a possibility that the books weren't directly related to any classes.
((I sent you a PM about a plot-related question....))

"Wouldn't really call it light," Dru said, smiling, "But it's for personal enjoyment." She was glad to have someone else to talk to, it was much easier to forget certain things when speaking to someone than it was just to read. "And you?"

"Curiosity, it’s my fatal flaw." Annabelle joked with a glimmer in her eyes. "I have a copy of Olde and Forgotten Bewitchments and Charmes in my trunk if you'd like to borrow it, It might have something you're looking for. I think the only copy here is in the restricted section." She treasured the present her granny had given her and knew the torment of wanting for information that couldn't be found in the general sections of the school library.

"Same for me, I may borrow it sometime, sounds interesting." Dru hid a grin, she had sneaked into the restricted section more than once to get books. "If I had something on true dragons or potions I'd trade, but I don't, just muggle fantasy novels." The books had muggle ideals of what a dragon should be, and, even though Dru knew how factual dragons acted, they still amazed her.

Annabelle raised an eyebrow in question. She knew there were plenty of other witches and wizards in the school raised in muggle households, but it wasn't often she heard anyone else having an interest in muggle books. "You don't have Christopher Paolini's newest book Eldest do you? My mum keeps forgetting to send it to me."

"No, I'm sorry, I never got into that series. I'm much more into The Wayfarer Redemption series by Sarah Douglass," She grinned, remembering Chase's reaction when he saw the cover of the book she had been reading.

"I've never heard of that series; but I usually go for the classics. Well, those and the ones I make sure my mum doesn't catch me reading." She grinned, trying to hide her light blush. Not many knew that she read fiction, let alone muggle fiction, but she rarely let it known that she read romance novels. She didn't read them for the graphic scenes, but because she loved the stories of the woman getting swept off their feet by their hero, wrapping the men around their fingers, and riding off into the sunset together.

Dru grinned, "I've never read those, thought about it, but never did. Though The Wayfarer Redemption does have its share of scenes." She laughed, thinking about the very interesting scenes in the books. Of course, they were tasteful, not as graphic as they could be, but it was still enough to where she didn't want anyone reading over her shoulder.

"Maybe I'll have to borrow them sometime then. If you don't mind the covers being transfigured into Magical Me that is?" Annabelle replied with a grin. She didn't know what would be worse, getting caught with a borderline muggle fantasy, or one of Lockhart's books.

Dru looked horrified, "Please, don't, I could never live it down." She kept up the mortified face for a second before laughing. "I swear, this is the most I've laughed in a long time."

Annabelle laughed along with Dru. She tried to resist prying, but curiousity got the best of her. "You don't laugh often?" She asked lighthanded, still smiling. She knew these were darker days, but still couldn't imagine going without a laugh for too long.

"I used to," Dru said, the smile still playing on the edges of her mouth. "But some things happened, some things are still happening...." She sighed and looked over at the pile of books, "So now I'm in here, taking my mind off it all," she finished lightly.
