Put the shoe on the other foot. He can't force me to completely change my character when I was here first. 'Derek' doesn't make sense if Cedric is still alive, because what he went through when Ced died is such a huge part of who he is.
You can't say 'you can't stop him playing a character he wants' because I damn well can. Just like we couldn't admit someone playing James Potter, because that would contradict the bios of existing members, Harry and Kay Potter, that they were orphaned.
I've held my tongue on an awful lot of things that have bothered me, but having a living Cedric is where I draw the line.

neither of you have to change anything. You be you. It also doesn't make much sense when there is a Hermione Granger, an Avis Granger and a Hermione Potter.
Pretend he's a different Cedric.

Two Hermione Potters actually.
With Avis, I don't think she's ever claimed to be related to Hermione, and even if she is, it doesn't matter because being an only child isn't an important part of who Hermione is. Whereas who I am is directly tied up with dead cedric. How can he be another Cedric? If he wants to play someone who isn't actually Ced, he doesn't need to be called Ced.
I can believe there might exist someone named Hermione Potter who's completely different to the Hermione in the books. I can't believe there'd be some other guy who just happens to be named Cedric Diggory and isn't 'the' Cedric, and that doesn't seem to be who this person wants to play either.

You still can't make him change his character because there aren't written rules that say he can't be Cedric because in your story he's Dead!
And there is nothing in his profile that suggests that he's playing the Cedric!

And one more thing, Derek: We have a Lily Evans. Yes, she hasn't signed on in like forever, but there's still a Lily Evans. That would seriously contradict Kay's backstory as well but Hells seems to think the same as Beatrice and me.

Lily Evans is just a name isn't it? There's a Lily Evans on trio's, which has a specific time setting, in the future. If she were Harry's mother, she'd be named Lily Potter wouldn't she? Plus she's a student, so couldn't be another student's mother. It's not like Evans is a rare name.
Look, it's quite simple.
He's either the Ced or he's not. If he is, then that's impossible, because he's dead. If he's not, why does he need to be named Cedric Diggory at all? He could be named anything.
If Hells and Chloe decide it's ok to admit a guy playing Cedric, that's their call, and all i can do is sulk, or leave the site in protest. Well, that and treat him as an impostor, which i'll definitely do. However, i can't see the problem with my making the case for why they shouldn't- namely, that characters' backstories ought not to contradict one another, and that the earlier established story takes precedence.
What would you do if, say, you'd written in your bio that you were an only child, and that it had played a big part in making you who you are, then someone came along calling himself 'John Potterslouth' and claiming to be your twin?

does it matter about the name? besides, I'd find it funny if some weirdo was pretending to be spencer's twin and he didn't know them  and it's probably a good thing cedric hasn't been online after this post because he probably wouldn't be too happy about half the site debating about his name without saying anything to him ;D |
