Background:
Sarabeth's four siblings call her Ash, as in what's left behind after a fire. Her two older sisters fought over everything, and a year after her birth, her parents had twin boys, meaning an heir and a spare. A third girl didn't really count for anything.
She grew up more or less invisible in the middle of five children raised in a dying mansion in thick woods. All (now deceased) female relatives were buried in an attached graveyard, rather than the family tomb (heirs only), so she knew she'd never amount to anything.
In late 2013, with both sisters married and gone, her parents were arrested and her grandfather died. Her brothers (Asher and Aerion Blackwood) were sent to Hogwarts, and her ancestral home passed to a cousin she'd never met (Dare). She was sent to live with her second-oldest sibling, Lisette Crabbe, who has multiple children and couldn't care any less about her younger sister, as long as she stays out of everyone's way.
