There were so many different ways she could approach this situation, but ad long as she maintained secrecy. There were certain things she could not mention and Aline had to be cautious when she spoke. As she appeared in front of the jewelry store she knew exactly what her story would be, but she wouldn't volunteer information. It would be too obvious. Aline briefly looked herself over in the window reflection of a close by store before proceeding inside the jewelry shop. Aline had been in enough jewelry stores to know how they were organized. She moved across the room to the gold her eyes caught by a glimmering rose gold chain necklace that hung low and had a unique pendant made of the same hollow rose gold and a diamond filling in from the inside. Even if the diamond wasn’t large the craftsmanship itself was exquisite and she could tell it would be costly- not that money ever bothered her. She wasn't here with the intention to buy anything, but she might as well if she didn't want to arouse suspicion.

Emilian looked up, hoping he didn't look as tired as he felt, when the door opened. "If you need anything, just ask." His eyes followed her and he momentarily forgot about the work he was doing at the front counter. Then he forced himself to look away. Damned Brandis, it was that German bastard's fault he even considered having the thoughts floating through his mind. The last thing he needed was distraction, especially the distraction of a woman.
He gave a mental huff and turned his attention back to the chain he held between his hands, one of which was gloved. It didn't matter that a small handful of years before he would have turned on all his charms; that was then and a different Emilian Sota.

If it wasn’t for the fact the she knew who he was she would have never pinned him as Russian. Yet, she had to pretend to know nothing. Why would a woman from Armenia know anything about this part of the world? Well, she did indulge in their paper the daily prophet, but that was mostly to follow the latest fashion trends coming out of the west. She turned to the voice and shot him a smile, she would be very aware of her own facial expressions she had to give a good impression.
“Actually, I would like to look at this one,” she pointed to the necklace that glinted back at her. She prayed she wouldn’t disappoint her father, or even worse, herself. This had to work out and she was going to work her arse off to get what she wanted… Aline always got what she wanted.

"I've only just gotten that one in," Emilian commented when he realized which one she was gesturing to. Her accent was vaguely familiar, though he couldn't quite place it exactly. He laid his work aside, then stood to open the case. "The man I bought it from always charms his diamonds." Actual charms, not like the trinkets and tourist traps from lesser-quality stores.

Aline looked up to him as he spoke. Aline didn’t know much about charmed jewelry, but she did understand precious metals. Her eyes was focused on the diamond, but her whole body was attuned to him. She ‘unconsciously’ leaned forward when he made a motion to take it out and if it wasn’t for her self-control and patience when it was required, she would have bought it on the spot. “May I try it on?” it wasn’t unusual for one to do so and right now she needed to assess the situation and try and figure him out. Her eyes moved to make contact with his, but only for a split second before returning to the jewelry. In that moment, she was able to see how he looked. There were layers of exhaustion, possibly hardships plaguing him, but there was something else etched into the details of his face. Still, Aline could see he was handsome and it would only take the light touch of a woman to remove the tension that she could sense.

"Of course," Emilian said smoothly, as if he hadn't even noticed the brief eye contact. A scar on his face and a mottled hand hidden beneath a black glove were usually enough to keep people from any sort of interest, assuming they didn't just avoid him because of his past in the first place. "The diamond is a ring instead of individual stones, actually, it'll turn slightly when you wear it." He doubted muggles could make diamonds into a ring. He held out the necklace for her.

Aline carefully took the chain. "I have a lot of different jewelry, but never one that was dual-purposed," She unclasped her cloak and slid it off resting it on the strap of her bag. She made a motion to clasp the necklace, but struggled to do so. Giving him a shy smile, she indicated with her eyes to him. "Could you... help me with this?" she motioned to hand the necklace over to him hoping he wouldn't say no. As far as he knew, she was just a customer and he'd just be making another sale.

Emilian flipped his mindset as firmly into seller as he could when he took the necklace. "I can," he said, and as he walked around the counter he removed the glove from his left hand. The skin beneath was mottled with a spiderweb of scars on the back and palm, a sight at odds with the simple, smooth gold band around his ring finger. He wouldn't have shown the hand, but as much dexterity as he had recovered in it, the glove simply refused to work properly when faced with tiny lobster-claw clasps.

Aline thanked him before turning to give him her back, but not before catching the scarred skin, and what stuck out even more, the gold band on his finger. Her features were indifferent to the sight, but her mind was racing and perhaps the wedding band was the reason he looked... off. She wasn't able to pin it down earlier in his features, but whomever he wore that wedding band for was probably not in the picture anymore, because why would she be sent to woo a married man? Perhaps tragedy had struck, or a heartbreak he never got past, or it could be some combination of both, but that little bit of information meant she may have a tougher time than she initially expected.
Aline pushed her hair out of the way holding it up and exposing the back of her neck. Her blouse was already unbuttoned down to her cleavage, but with the necklace about to be placed, she used her other hand to push to material back so that she could see how it looked better, or so her intention would seem.

Emilian looped the necklace around her and, proving he was still the same man in some way, couldn't help but catch a glimpse as she adjusted her top. He took in a low breath and focused on the clasp. "I can adjust the length however you'd like, if necessary," he said, unable to keep his fingers from brushing her skin. Opening a jewelry shop had been a brilliant idea at first. It kept him close to Hogwarts and Adara, put him in close personal contact with so many people...both things were now more of a curse.

Aline looked back at him just as he was clasping the necklace noting the brush of his fingers against her skin. She turned back away as her lips turned upward into a tiny coy smile, but it was immediately gone. The necklace hung down to just the start of her cleavage allowing anyone's eyes to wander. She turned around to face him her hand moving up to the necklace. "What do you think?" if only he knew what her intentions were this could be a completely different exchange. Aline glanced at a close by mirror pleased with how the rose gold looked against her skin. "I've always had a weakness for Russian gold," it wasn't common for people to call it that, but she knew what the true origins of the metal was, plus while it wasn't her intention if he only knew it could be taken as an innuendo.

Emilian's dark eyebrows raised slightly at that, and he took a small step back. "It fits you wonderfully," he said. No flirting, just straight business. It was safer that way. "I haven't heard anyone call it that in a long time, that's an old-fashioned term." Very old-fashioned, and he'd heard no one outside of Society say it, save for one old jeweler who might have been dead by now, considering how long it had been since he'd heard from him.

"I'll take it then," she smiled at the compliment her finger's playing with the pendant. "My father is in the business of precious metals. He can be somewhat of a purist when it comes to gold," she just hoped that this tidbit of information would help put her plan into motion. "He says that even though we are Armenian we were once not too long ago soviets," and if there was any country he loved second to Armenia it was Russia. "He'd be impressed with your jewelry store," Aline raised both hands to the back of her neck; it was always easier to undo the clasp. She extended the jewelry to him for packaging.

That piqued Emilian's interest, and he temporarily forgot his glove as he took the necklace and led the way back to the front. "I'm always interested in expanding my suppliers," he said. Safe. Safer to talk about business instead of thinking about the way her fingers had touched that pendant. "I had wondered where exactly you came from, I couldn't quite place the accent."

It worked, and Aline was pleased with herself. She followed him to the front weighing her words carefully. "And my father is always interested in making new business deals," this was one way she could have an excuse to keep in contact with Emilian and as soon as she was able to she would send an owl to her father. "Unfortunately, my father is a very busy man, but I can speak on his behalf. If it pleases you we could arrange a business meeting some other time Mr.," she paused even though she knew his name; she had to pretend she didn't.
