Name: Diantha Delagardie
Year you wish to be in: 5th
Description: Diantha is slender and tall at around 5'8", though she hopes for another couple before she stops growing. Her hair is blonde with a slight wave, though she often wears it straight and tucked back into a tight ponytail. She has gray-blue eyes. She enjoys quality vintage clothes, but has been known to sneak to second-hand shops to see what treasures she can find hidden.
Personality: Diantha has a need to prove herself after being considered a disappointment by many of the men in her family, despite her high marks in classes and the skills she was still developing. She works hard, but typically only on the things she actually enjoys. Growing up with few expectations or responsibilities didn't lend itself to stretching out uninteresting skillsets. She can be cunning and calculating when necessary, and considers any potential side effects of her actions unfortunate but ultimately unimportant.
Background: The youngest daughter from a minor noble family from Sweden, Diantha doesn't have much coming to her as inheritance. Six older siblings, plus her father's numerous brothers, and his father's, has diluted the family power considerably in the past century, even if a large number had moved to other countries in hopes of re-expanding the family power. A pureblood family, the Delagardies moved from France after the Statute of Secrecy to cut ties with muggle noble families. This was mostly effective.
Diantha got the brunt of her father's disappointment and bitterness at breaking the "seventh son" streak the family had been on until her older sister was born, especially when it became apparent the youngest Delagardie wasn't an instant child prodigy in the magic department. Much of her early life was spent avoiding her father, who would snap at the smallest thing, though her mother managed to keep his temper in check most of the time. By the time she was school-aged and sent off to boarding school, she'd developed a bit of a mischievous side and was rather adept at finding hidden corridors and nooks.
After completing her fourth year, she developed a plan to further extricate herself from her father's influence with quite the cunning plan of attending Hogwarts in hopes of making connections with the numerous wealthy pureblood families that were connected with the school. Or at least, that was the argument she used on her father, to great success.
