"Join me in the sing in the shower club, the acoustics are brilliant." Yes, Gavin was flirting, whether he realized it or not. He felt more comfortable now with Andy since he had an idea of a kind of a plan. Maybe. Well, he knew he wanted to get to know Andy, so that counted as sort of a plan. "Or just tape a keep out sign on the door for some privacy. Nudge a chair up to the handle so they're not allowed in."

"I'll do that," Andy said, still grinning at the tease. He tried not to think about singing in the shower with Gavin, but knew he'd probably think about it a lot later. "Um... Have you ever had a pet? You like animals, right?" Gavin was way too nice and outdoorsy and generally perfect not to like animals. Andy bet that Gavin was a dog person. Cats were like, too slinky and evil for a guy like him. Not that Andy didn't like cats, too. How could anyone not like something that purred?

"Of course," Gavin said, nodding as the waitress reappeared with drinks. He thanked her, and she was soon gone again. "Back home we have two English setters. We've had them for years; they're from the same litter and everything. You?" For now, he barely spared a second for the drink, preferring instead to keep that light contact of his hand against Andy's.

Andy was interested in his drink, but he was far more interested in keeping his hands where they could touch Gavin's. "I never had a pet of my own, but one of the families I lived with had a white Cavvy that was adorable, and I took care of it. The family I'm with now has a big dog, it's like part Dane or something, but it totally has a different face." He couldn't remember exactly what it was, but it was a nice dog. It put up with Tam, and that was always good.

"Oh, I like Danes, maybe I can come see it sometime," Gavin suggested, eyes bright, though he almost immediately realized that that was perhaps a tad presumptuous. He cleared his throat and reached for his drink. "I mean, maybe, if you'd like. Later." His tanned cheeks pinkened ever so slightly at the possible fumble. Though he could hope there would be more dates, he shouldn't assume.

Gavin blushing was completely adorable, and Andy's smile broadened again. "Maybe," he agreed. "We could go to Diagon Alley and get ice cream, they make waffle cones. Like, real, warm ones, not those crunchy ones that just pretend they're waffles." He wondered if Gavin ever got junk food. He was all into sports and Andy'd bet his mom even cooked real food. "Have you ever had a waffle cone?"

"Not one like that," Gavin said, setting his drink back down after keeping himself from assuming any more by taking a sizable drink. "I usually go for tarts and pies, but I'm certainly willing to give it a try." Who said that just because they'd decided the date should start here that it had to end here? Though Gavin was very used to structure and schedules, he'd quite liked the spontaneity of their first meeting.

Andy hadn't meant that day, but didn't realize that Gavin had, either. He finally reached for a drink, thrilled beyond words at how well this was going. How had hanging out been so awkward when going on a date was so easy?
"I'm having a lot of fun," Andy said. "Is it too soon to say that? I mean, it seems like we just got here, but I really am."

"So am I," Gavin agreed. It really was easy, and he hadn't expected it to go so smoothly. Of course, there was plenty of time to ruin things... He swallowed hard and tried not to consider that possibility. "I would say that, as far as first dates go, this is probably one of the better ones. I mean, I could have already spilled something on you or accidentally insulted you. I suppose it's a pretty good start, at least."

Andy laughed lightly. "I can honestly say this is the best date I've ever been on," he teased. It was the only date he'd ever been on, but he couldn't imagine it going any better. He was with the cutest, hottest, sweetest, most polite and adorable guy in the world, and somehow he felt really good about himself. He wasn't afraid of messing up, and didn't feel like he had to hide who he was. He wondered how long you had to know someone before you could be in love...

"Well, here's to many more, cheers." Gavin raised his glass for a toast. He hadn't told his parents and still worried somewhat about how they would respond, but right now he was just focused on enjoying the outing. Maybe he could find somewhere that served amazing curry for their second date. Yes, there would have to be a second.

"Cheers," Andy echoed, lifting his glass. He moved to clink it against Gavin's, then took a long drink to show just how much he agreed with the sentiment. "I'm probably not supposed to tell you, but I was so nervous. Like, you're really cute and sweet and just completely incredible," he said with another blush. Where had this assertiveness come from? And why was he questioning it? "I'm so glad I didn't chicken out." He gave a teasing smile. He hadn't been anywhere near chickening out, though he had gone running to Jory to ask for advice.

Gavin grinned and nodded. "Yes, definitely." No one except for relatives had ever called him cute and sweet and just really incredible before, and it sent a thrill racing up and down his spine. "I was nervous, too, a completely different kind of nervous than I'm used to. Impressing you is not the same thing as winning a game. And yeah, I do really kind of want to impress you." And it seemed like he had.

"I'm so impressed," Andy said. He could hardly believe that Gavin wanted to impress him, or that it would take any effort—from Gavin, anyway—to impress him in the first place. Did that mean he was easy? He mentally shrugged the thought off as he took a drink. It didn't matter at this point. They probably wouldn't be doing anything he needed to worry about, if Jory was right. So far, it seemed like he had been.
"I don't really know how to impress someone. Like... I know to dress nice and not be a jerk..." He gave Gavin a thoughtful look that melted into something coy. "Maybe you could teach me," he suggested, looking at Gavin from beneath his lashes. Okay, so he was doing that on purpose, but it was all he could think of!

"You impressed me when we first met," Gavin insisted. "I mean, you dragged me out of all but asexuality." Gavin had been forced to acknowledge that he had desires other than sports and academics, and that in itself was impressive. "Why would I agree to teach you to do anything but be the cute guy you are?" he asked.
