"Really?" Andy asked. "They're just like, brown, though." And he dyed his hair. Maybe he did like his eyes to stand out.
"I've never like, had a boyfriend or anything either," he said. "I mean, not that I'm asking or anything, because we just met, but like... since we're talking about it." As they approached Hogsmeade, far slower than they'd started out, he wondered if he really wanted to go there after all. They'd intended to people-watch, but he'd kind of like to Gavin-watch more. His lips quirked at the thought.

Gavin gave a one-shouldered shrug. "Like I said, never been on a date, much less...well, anything else," he said. No kisses, no flirting, no staying up all night to talk on the phone for hours. For the first time, he felt his own cheeks heating. Anything else. Why were his eyes suddenly draw toward Andy's quirked lips? "I always had so much work to do, you know?"

Not really, Andy thought, but he nodded anyway. "So like... instead of going people-watching, do you maybe want to like... just look around and stuff? I mean, if you've always been so busy, I could show you how to be a slacker for a while." He'd just teased Gavin, hadn't he? Was that flirting? It felt flirty, even if he hadn't done it on purpose.

A smile overtook and replaced the somewhat worried look that had taken over Gavin's face as he looked up at Andy. "I think that would be nice," he said as some of the building stress melted away. Andy didn't care and hadn't made a single gay joke the entire time they'd been talking. Hogwarts was going to be different from his old school in more ways than he'd imagined.
