Skylar was learning a lot about the elite, and was increasingly glad that he hadn't been in it. Drinking games were for kids who wanted to get drunk.
"Keep it level when you throw it," Skylar advised, picking up another dart. He aimed briefly, then threw, hitting red this time.

Michael gave it another go, managing to get the dart to stay in place this time. "Where on earth did you get the idea to throw sharp things at the wall?" he asked, raising his eyebrows over at Skylar. He couldn't imagine that it would be a normal...but then he distinctly remembered a time when Emilian decided to play with knives. "On second thought, nevermind, I've seen it done before."

"I wouldn't have pegged you as the type to hang out in Muggle bars," Skylar said. Well, he'd been more surprised today. He went and collected the darts, then brought them back and dropped them into their tray. All except the one he was going to throw now. He held the dart in one hand and his drink in the other. "A Galleon says I can hit the bullseye three times in a row." He took a long, slow drink of whiskey.

"Why do I get the feeling I'm going to be out a galleon?" Michael asked, though he gestured with his glass. "Go ahead, then. And it wasn't a muggle bar, anyway. Emilian got his hands on a set of replica swords my father had given me. They were short, just about knife sized, and Emilian decided to teach himself to throw them by aiming at the underside of an ottoman." He shook his head at the memory and took a drink.

"Let me finish off my drink," Skylar said, and did so before setting it aside. "It's getting warm in here..." He threw his dart and it stuck in the green again. "Sh~. Let me try it again, double or nothing." He went to retrieve the dart, and when he came back he poured himself a little more.

"It's been warm in here," Michael said, eying the dartboard. He wondered how he had ever been able to stand being warm like this with his long hair. He waved again with his glass for Skylar to go ahead and by the time he finally managed to say he wouldn't go higher he'd refilled his glass once and was halfway though it and there was a decent IOU tallied up. "Pureblood bastard," he muttered, then grinned at himself.

"What was that?" Skylar asked, as though he hadn't heard. "I'll get it this time," he went on, turning back to the dart board. He'd let himself get close a few times, but this was his last chance and he knew it. He pulled his second bullseye in a row out and stepped back, then stepped back again and picked up his glass. A quick drink, a quick aim, a hard thwack, and a good hustle was over.
Skylar turned to Michael with a smirk. "Guess I got lucky that time," he claimed.

"Ha, you're very funny," Michael said, shaking his head. "Remind me never to play any games with you." He leaned back in his chair and crossed his ankles. The warmth had faded to a manageable, almost forgotten level and his fingertips and lips felt slightly numb. His head was a little wobbly, too, both mentally and physically. It was an interesting experience getting drunk without Dare. Well, that one time he'd gotten drunk with Eros, but he didn't know if that should count.

"I'm practicing my teaching skills," Skylar said. He rested his hand on the table beside Michael and leaned around to look at him. "I just taught you a valuable lesson about gambling when you're drunk." He pushed away and put the darts back into the cabinet, then got out a tall glass and filled it with water. He set it down in front of Michael. "Drink that, I'm not into meeting angry husbands."

"I don't think I ever even gambled before," Michael said, taking the glass without argument. "Dare's not going to be happy with you, you've gotten me doing shots and gambling and throwing sharp things." At least Hero seemed happy, laying by the entryway to the kitchen and dozing. He wondered now how much longer he should stay, since the mention of Dare had lodged his husband firmly in his mind.

"What the s.o. doesn't know won't hurt him," Skylar said. The whiskey would be obvious enough, but there was nothing wrong with having a drink or two. "He's not a smoker either, is he?" A quick spell cleared the air, and that would have to do.

Michael shook his head. "He'd never even had anything to drink before he met me," he said. "You two have to meet." From there it was barely a thought before he'd called Gilda, who appeared with a pop, looking slightly confused. "I want you to tell Dare to come here." It might be good to have someone walk with him through the castle, anyway. Gilda glanced toward Skylar, then nodded and with a soft word she disappeared.

"Damn, I've got to get an elf," Skylar said. He didn't mind handing Michael off to someone else, and after all the talk, was interested in meeting a lost Blackwood. Now that he thought about it, they were all pretty tall. Evan could be intimidating. Ferox had a foul temper. Skylar finished off his drink.

Dare wasn't entirely sure why he was hunting Michael down, but Gilda hadn't seemed entirely sure either. She'd told him where the new professor's quarters were and he'd told her that the twins had finally fallen asleep. Elouai was curled up on the floor between their cribs taking a nap.
He'd had to throw on a pair of shoes and arm-warmers, but at least he hadn't been stripped down to sleep pants yet, and his destination wasn't especially far from the tower. This was going to be the hopefully-ex Death Eater Michael had told him about. Dare knocked on the door.

"I'll get that," Skylar told Michael. He rounded the counter that separated kitchen from living room and pulled open the door. His brows drew together. Tall? Yes. A Blackwood? More like an overgrown scene kid. Except the eyes. Those were familiar. "He's in the kitchen," Skylar said.
