Description:
5'7", slender (but not skinny), dark eyes, dark hair (though it has white streaks in front when he can get away with it)
Personality:
As rebellious as someone raised under strict rules with no leeway whatsoever can be. Defiant, struggling to find himself outside his family's expectations. Has an adventurous streak.
Background:
A descendant of one of the most prominent wizarding lines in Japan, Seiji was born and raised in a shinden-zukuri style mansion near Lake Biwa, northeast of Kyoto. The mansion is home to multiple generations of Tairas; Seiji, his parents, his father's parents, and his grandfather's mother. That means no privacy. Ever. It also means that tradition is strong and inescapable. Seiji has been exclusively homeschooled, but wants freedom he wouldn't even know what to do with. He tries to find it anyway, now and then.
Skills include calligraphy (yay), herbology (woo), biwa (like a lute), and shamisen (like a guitar/banjo).
Where you heard of us:
Castiel Catalyst
Anything Else:
not really
Seiji: lawful; manages affairs of state
Taira: peace
Together with the Fujiwara and Minamoto, this is one of the most prominent clans in Japanese history. It is listed in the Shinsen shōjiroku. The name appears to have been taken from Taira no Miyako (‘Capital of Peace’), an ancient name for the city of Kyōto, and was created in 825 by the ex-Emperor Kanmu when his son Takamune (804–867) became a commoner. Later emperors bestowed the name on some of their children, so the various branches of the clan were distinguished by the names of their parent-emperors. The Taira are also commonly called Heike or Heishi, from the Sino-Japanese pronunciation of taira plus the words for family or clan.
