Jory held the puppy firmly, just in case, but she just set to sniffing Remiel. After a moment, she sneezed, then gave Remiel a friendly lick, just close enough for the wet tip to reach the cat's curious nose. Jory laughed lightly at the show and the puppy's tail set to wagging again from underneath his arm. "Well, that's a good sign."

Remiel gave a squeak of a meow, asking Hyacinth to let her closer. He was still hesitant, but all that happened was Rem got a better sniff. "I think they will be friends," Hyacinth said. "That is a good dog." Remiel was a very smart cat and a good judge of character. He had no doubt that her instincts were right.

"Definitely," Jory said, nodding. "Maybe Remiel can ride on her back when she's bigger." That would make quite the show, the tiny Remiel riding on the back of Jory's dog...whatever her name ended up being. That was something he wasn't in a rush to decide. "Come on, you've got to help me pick out stuff!" He reached out to scratch Remiel's ears briefly before marching to a display of collars, leashes, and various other items for dogs.

"Dog toys are big," Hyacinth observed, eyeing a display of balls and bone-shaped things. "You like bones?" he asked the puppy. There were bone shaped dog biscuits, bone shapes on bowls, leashes, and collars, and even on beds. "I think dogs dream about bones," he said. They must, being surrounded by them so much.

"Probably," Jory agreed. He knelt in front of the display and pulled his arms from around the puppy so he could reach for things. There was a pretty, shining collar that drew his eye and he reached for it. The puppy debated whether or not she was allowed to leave his lap, but settled into investigating the collar when he brought it near. There were so many things to buy!

Hyacinth did his best to keep Jory from going overboard. It was Jory's dog and Jory's money, but Hyacinth was used to having very little to spend and tended to buy things he needed instead of things he wanted. He pointed out that one collar would be enough for a dog with one neck, especially since the color could be changed, but that toys really were important, since busy pets seemed to be happy pets.

Jory would be glad later for Hyacinth's staying hand. As it was, he spent much of the first bit of money he'd gotten for working. A sturdy bag held a shrunken crate along with various other things for the puppy, who walked happily on the end of a leash that matched her collar. He paused at the door and looked out onto the street, where snow was still thick in many places. Just out of excitement, he bounced a little in place. "This might be better than a pygmy puff." At least for now.

Hyacinth laughed lightly. "Maybe," he agreed. He looked down at the fluffy dog as he tucked Remiel back into his coat for warmth. Her nose peeked out at him for a moment before she settled in for a nap. "What will you name her?" Hyacinth asked. "She will have a special name."

"I don't know," Jory said, looking down at her for a moment before walking out into the street. The puppy immediately dove into a drift of snow against the wall of the building. "I don't want to just give her one, it might not fit." He wasn't about to name her Spot or Fluffy, it just wasn't right to jump into it, he didn't think. "It's got to be an awesome name."

"Think of something awesome," Hyacinth suggested, "and name her that. Her name is Divination maybe, or something that makes you happy." Jory had helped him decide how to name Remiel, and the name fit the tiny cat perfectly. She was a watcher, and she was a blessing.

"Astra is star," Jory said. "Do you like Astra?" he asked the puppy, who hopped out of the drift only to hop into another. It seemed like she'd never actually been out in the snow before, which was a shame. At least she was enjoying herself, though. Maybe that name would work. There weren't a lot of divinationy things he could think of that would make for a good name.

"Star is good," Hyacinth said, then corrected himself. "Astra. It shines like the collar. I think she is having too much fun to answer!" Rem didn't like the snow. He'd given her the chance to play in it, but it was cold and wet, and she liked her paws warm and dry.

Jory chuckled softly and nodded, then bent down to scoop her up in one arm. "What do you say, Astra?" She smiled and licked his nose, ears perky. "I guess that settles it." She could be Astra, a bright star to help him through the cold and lonely nights. "I'll teach her all the tricks I can think of, and then I'll look up more," he declared.

Hyacinth laughed lightly. "She will learn to sit, yes? And jump, and dance, and speak, and do homework?" It would be useful to have a study partner, though Hyacinth was joking about the last.

Mari had his arm linked in Castiel's since it couldn't be linked in Indigo's as they entered Diagon Alley. "We should go to the pet shop," he was saying. "I think having one of those pygmy puff things would be super cool, like what Brindle has?" He looked up at Indigo briefly before scanning the street. "Hey, look, it's Jory and Hyacinth!" he said, then waved at the pair to get their attention.
