Shianni looked over her shoulder at Rowan. "That is good. I feel like I do not know enough. I hope having a good healer is enough." She felt like it was not, as her mother had been attended to by one of the best. Considering Peruvian healers were more difficult to come by, however, Shianni had the feeling that the options would be better here.

"Keeping you comfortable and relaxed will help," Rowan said, summarizing a bit of the reading he'd done. He began with firm, but gentle hands against Shianni's shoulders. His own were so sensitive that it seemed wise to begin easing the tension there with short, sweeping motions. "I have a few books on the subject. Two of them are written for fathers, but I'm sure that I could find more if you're interested."

Yes, relaxed. It was impossible to relax with the last weeks of term weighing heavily in her thoughts. "It would likely be good for me to read," Shianni said. She closed her eyes and breathed a low sigh. "I did not know you could give massages." Not that she intended to complain.

"It's a recently discovered skill," Rowan admitted. And it seemed he was quite good at it, which gave him a bit of pride. Perhaps he'd read up on that, as well. "I'll give you one of the books later," he promised, taking his time working out the knots in Shianni's shoulders before moving down to her slender back. It was a different experience with the soft clothing she wore acting as barrier, with her less defined muscles, but it was easy to find the spots which most needed his attention.

"Thank you," Shianni said softly. Her eyes closed and her head drooped. She could not remember having a massage at any point in her life and truthfully had barely expected to come into physical contact with Rowan, at least until the inevitable time when some family member would begin to push for a male heir.

"You're welcome," Rowan returned. He worked quietly for some time, letting his hands lead him, and letting the subtle shifts in Shianni's body lead his firm palms and gently probing fingers. It was actually relaxing doing this, perhaps due to the associations with his own relaxation, or perhaps simply because the repetitive motions themselves were soothing.
His mind wandered idly through many things. He thought of Shianni's pregnancy and touched here and there on their honeymoon and the night they'd been so deeply infatuated. He thought of his own massages, and of the ticklish sensation of kisses against his skin which usually followed. He thought of that odd moment with Keith after a party that he simply couldn't explain, and which hadn't happened again. He thought of the odd night when he'd wanted Shianni so badly, and he wasn't entirely certain what to make of it all.
After a time, his hands slowed, and he began to recall himself. "Does that feel better?" he asked, his voice low as he made a few final sweeps up Shianni's back.

"Hmm, very much so," Shianni sighed. "If you are not careful, I may beg you for them often." She looked back over one shoulder and a small smile graced her lips. Had she expected him to be good at such a thing she might have already asked him for the favor.

Rowan's lips curved as his eyes met Shianni's. He really did want to help her, really did want to get to know her. He'd found her interesting from the start, and with as little as he was going out now, as little time as he'd spent with Keith, he was feeling social. That was it, of course. He was feeling social and had one of the most intelligent people he knew consistently near. "I wish I had offered sooner," he returned.

The small smile remained on Shianni's face as she turned to lean back in the cushions, crossing one leg over the other. "Well, I told you I would be more social and I have yet to make good on that promise," she said. Certainly if she had the topic would have come up much sooner.

Rowan propped his arm on the back of the couch and rested his head against his raised fist. He was relaxed, and he let himself wonder at the look in Shianni's eyes. "We have plenty of time," he said casually. Certainly there were far worse fates than living with an intelligent, independent woman, both open-minded and decisive.

"We certainly do," Shianni agreed. "I would never have thought a year ago I would be sitting in a tower in Hogwarts with a husband and a daughter on the way. Let us hope she has your eyes." Her eyes sparkled in the moment she caught Rowan's before she looked down at her folded hands in her lap.

Rowan's brows arched slightly, both at the unexpected compliment and at that moment before she'd looked away. A year ago he most definitely wouldn't have recognized anything behind that glance, and might have thought her uninterested in the conversation. Now, however, he had a spark of a thought, and had it not occurred to him earlier as well, he might have ignored it anyway. "Do you want me to kiss you?" he asked. "If I'm wrong, I apologize but it seemed..." Appropriate? Was that the word?

Shianni looked over at Rowan with one eyebrow raised. "I admit I do not have much experience in this area," she said, "but I have always been told that one does not ask for a kiss, one simply takes." It might have been the relaxation she had not felt in months, but she did not think she would pull away from a kiss. Her look turned curious. Had he not told her he was asexual?

"Oh, I'm sorry," Rowan said. He lifted his head and brought his arm down, resting his hands in his lap. "I've... been asked in the past," he explained, "and it seemed presumptuous not to. I meant it respectfully." He wasn't entirely certain whether Shianni had given him a refusal or simply a moment of education about the subject, but Keith had always asked.

"I did not intend to shut you down," Shianni said. She hesitated a moment the reached over and rested a light hand against his. "I would not turn away a kiss from my husband." To be entirely truthful, she had half expected more to be demanded of her, though she knew Rowan was so very different from the other men she had encountered.
