Verity rolled out of bed looking like a character from the muggle children’s book Where the Wild Things Are. Her hair was frizzy and going every which way. Her tank top and shorts hung from her body crookedly. The makeup she failed to completely remove from the day before was all over both her pillowcase and her face. In short, she looked like a hot mess. She rolled out of bed, still not fully awake, and made her way to her closet. She didn’t even bother looking in the mirror. No good can come from it.
Ver picked out her outfit, took her bath, got dressed, and within a matter of almost two hours she looked like her normal, rather smashing, self. Her curls transformed from a wild mane of pure frizz to smooth ringlets. Her face was no longer blotchy and red from the previous night’s sleep, but clean, bright, and fresh. Her tank fit perfectly so it didn’t quite cover her tattoo. She stepped out of the Slytherin Common Room, made her way through the dungeons, and headed outside. It was a beautiful day. The clouds were few and the heat was tolerable. The sunglasses that were perched on her nose allowed her to assess the situation by the lake without giving off the obvious appearance that she was staring. Not to mention that they looked super cute.
Verity could not pick out any faces in particular that she wanted to see. There was, however, a healthy spot of grass open just by the lake. She laid out on the grass, with her shades on, hoping to soak up every bit of sun that she could. Her skin tanned easily and was already bronzed from the most recent times she spent outside. She knew there were some people who attempted to use potions to darken their skin, but none of them had done it successfully and all of them looked like blotchy carrots. Verity was not outside more than three minutes when beads of sweat began forming on her skin. The sun was stronger than she had thought and pretty soon she’s have to take a swim in the Lake to cool off.

Evan had decided to spend her day outside in the sun. Studying and work was off her agenda it was to be a relaxing day. She walked along the edge of the lake, spotting a slightly shaded spot out of the sun (as being a redhead had a lot of disadvantages like burning like a crisp in the sun), sat down and enjoyed the view. She spotted a dark haired girl swimming in the lake, "gosh, she must be mad swimming in there, god only knows what is living in that lake." Evan thought to herself.
Evan removed her socks and shoes and placed them on the grass, she loved the thin strands tickling her feet. Smiling at this sensation she lay back, closed her eyes and decided to take a little nap, "I'm in the shade I shall be safe enough." With the day being so warm Evan soon dozed off quickly.

Cooper had every intention on finding his way to the Quidditch Pitch, but he took his sweet time getting there. He knew some of the guys were planning on spending the day there working out and getting ready for try-outs in a couple of months. He was walking through the grounds and by the lake when he saw her. He had to squint, but there was no doubt who that lusciously long locks belonged to. A smirk spread across his lips as he walked down to the edge of the lake. Her back was to him, so she didn’t see him approach and he made every attempt to make sure she didn’t hear him either. There was some other girl lying under a tree, but she didn’t seem to be awake. Cooper slipped off his shoes, shirt, and then shorts. He was left in his lucky boxers. He was sure that she would hear him as he slipped into the water, but still he went unnoticed. He wondered what she was doing that had her so unaware. Cooper stealthily swam over to her, slipped his arm around her tiny waist, and pulled her down with him. It was meant to be playful and nothing else.

Verity turned her back to the grounds and faced the open lake in front of her. She tread the water and kept her eyes on the surface of the water. She knew that if she waited long enough, she’d see bubbles emerge or maybe even the giant squid breaking the surface of the water. She was too close to the edge for it to come anywhere near her, though. The water was too shallow and busy for any dangerous wildlife to disrupt their peace. Verity dipped her head back so the rest of her hair would get wet, then remained studying the lake. After a couple of minutes, she finally saw it. If you blinked, you would have missed it, but for just a moment there was something slimy and round brushing above the surface. It was gone in a flash, but Verity smiled successfully. She had never seen the full squid, but she liked to make sure it was still there for her.
Just as Verity was about to turn around, she felt an arm snake around her waist and pull her under. She was able to let out a short shriek before being pulled into the water. She knew how to swim, but she also knew how to panic and at that moment she chose to panic over swimming. The water stung her eyes as she opened them under water to see. She twisted and writhed around under the water, desperate for a breath of air. Finally, Verity realized which direction her bubbles were floating and followed them to the surface. She emerged from the water, gasping for air, before tackling the guy who had decided to pull her under. She shouted obscenities at him. She recognized him from a few of her classes and some parties where she’d run into him from time to time, but she could never seem to remember his name. He was a Hufflepuff, of all things. After her stream of profanity, Verity sighed in a huff. “Gawd, what is your problem anyways, Coop!?” She demanded rolling her eyes.
Verity moved away from Cooper. Why were guys so annoying? Honestly, it was like they were all determined to prove that they weren’t the least bit mature. That was when she saw her, another girl lying under a tree. She couldn’t tell what the girl was doing, but Verity was always up for meeting new people. “HEY!! YOU!” She shouted over to the redhead under the tree. “YOU!! YEAH, YOU!! Care to join us?” She asked, waving the girl over.

Evan was wakened by the shouting, she couldn't remember where she was, her mind a bit groggy. She pushed her elbows into the ground and pushed herself up to sit. Glancing around she remembered she was at the lake, seeing two heads bobbling about in the water and no one else was around, Evan took it the girl was talking to her. "Me??" she replied pointing to her chest. Pondering for a moment she thought why not, the sun wasnt as warm as earlier. "Sure why not." Evan smiled.
She took of her hat and cardigan then her dress, she was glad she decided to wear summery underwear. Neatly folding her clothes in a pile, she rushed over to the edge of the lake. She tested the water with her big toe, and shivered, it was freezing. Realising this was probably silly looking she took a few steps back and ran and leaped into the lake. The cold water hit her hard knocking the wind out of her. Evan surfaced trying to get over the cold sensation and swam towards the girl and boy. "Hi,... the names... Evan..." she said through chattering teeth.

Cooper spun Verity around as she shrieked and demanded that he set her down. Just for his own personal amusement, and because he rather enjoyed pissing her off, he held onto her for a bit longer. It wasn’t until he caught something out of the corner of her eye that he let the poor girl go. What he saw was far more interesting. “Well, well, what do we have here?” He muttered under his breath, a smirk spreading across his lips. A smokin’ hot redhead was undressing before his very eyes. It wasn’t every day that he saw that. Who was he kidding? It practically was! This particular redhead was unfamiliar, though, and it was always fun to have a bit of fresh meat to pick at. The girl joined them in the water and Cooper suddenly forgot all about Verity. “A bit chilly, darling?” Cooper asked getting nearer to the girl. “I wouldn’t mind warming you up myself.” He muttered quietly.

Verity rolled her eyes and pushed past Cooper. “Don’t pay any attention to him.” She advised as if Cooper was the biggest idiot to grace the earth with his presence. Well, that was almost accurate. “That’s Cooper.” She said, gesturing to the dumb blonde behind her. “And I’m Verity.” She introduced herself with a grin. Cooper was attractive and could be pleasant when he wanted to, but he was as much of an dumbass as just about every other guy out there. Verity and Cooper had a love-hate relationship. She noticed the girl, Evan, she had said, was shivering. “Don’t worry, you’ll get used to the water in no time!” Verity promised. She made the mistake of looking at Cooper, who was practically drooling over the new girl. Verity slapped him on the shoulder for staring at her tits rather than her face. “Honestly, Cooper!” She said as if she were appalled by his behavior when really he was being his normal self. “I apologize about him. Boys. What can ya do?” Verity shrugged.

Evan giggled, she was embarrassed that this Cooper fella was eyeing her up like a piece of meat, "Typical. Its fine Im so used to it I just ignore them now." she laughed, her teeth had stop chattering, her body was adapting to the cold water. Evan took in the features of both Verity and Cooper, they were both very attractive, "Cant live with them and cant live without them" she said shaking her head. Most guys where usually the same, Evan didnt mind, they didnt interest her as much.. Evan let her chin bob on the water, this make her sink a bit into the dark water to hide from Coopers glaring eyes. "I hear theres a big creature that lives in this lake, is it true? A giant octopus or something?" Evan only being here a few days had only picked up a few things she had heard from glimpses of different conversations, she hadnt made any proper friends yet.
