Yes, Lyric was okay with this. Yes and yes again as his brows drew together and his lips parted softly. Part of him was tense with wanting to rush on, wanting things he wasn't ready for, wanting to push desperately through like that first time they'd ever been together, but this was exciting all on its own, kissing Jory and feeling everything without his thoughts straying to his mother and years of deep-seated guilt. It was all there, buried inside him, but this wasn't enough to bring it to the surface, and with everything concentrated on the kiss, for once, it was such a different experience.

Jory could feel the difference and his eyebrows came together. He wanted to touch, but kept his hands still and focused the energy into the kiss. Maybe he could taste, just a little, with Lyric's lips parting against his, and he tested. It felt strange to test and feel out what was appropriate when they had already done so much together, but the last thing he wanted was to make Lyric close up.

Lyric was okay with the kiss, swept into it in a way he didn't understand. He hadn't kissed anyone, sober or otherwise, since before his last stay in rehab, and it had been Jory then, Jory, happy to sleep with him, but reluctant to label it a relationship. Of course, he'd been the same, and he could only just remember it if he tried.
He wasn't trying now. There was the press of their lips, the taste of the kiss, and the tangy smell of drying paint sticky on the wall, on his skin, in Jory's hair. Nothing else mattered right now.

Jory was ecstatic with the knowledge that this feeling was okay, that no other substances were making it possible, that it felt like Lyric was maybe even enjoying it. His mind floated back to times he'd spent with Lyric, wondering how different it would all have been like this. He wondered if and when they would get to that point again, but in a more healthy way this time.

Lyric couldn't have said how long they kissed like that, with things he didn't understand and couldn't identify humming in his veins, with unfettered pleasure and a childish delight that showed in the curve of his lips when at last they parted. His honeyed eyes glittered, and he felt a little breathless, a little light-headed, and he gave a little laugh at seeing how spattered in paint Jory was.

Jory grinned and looked away. He ran his hand through now-stiff hair. What was he supposed to say now? His cheeks were warm and his blood was still rushing. "Thank you," he managed. It was the only thing he could think of saying. "That was fun." Fun was an understatement. It was a good sign, maybe they could be normal this time.

Lyric nodded, and though his eyes remained on Jory's face a moment, they soon skittered away. "Mhm," he agreed softly. He wasn't sure what to make of Jory looking away from him, whether he was embarrassed, or thinking of something else, or maybe wishing it had been more, but Lyric didn't want to think about that. This was good, wasn't it? Kane had said it was okay, not to let himself feel guilty for physical feelings or wants. He usually sulked and snorted, but he listened anyway. It was less boring that way.

Jory smiled broadly, happy beyond measure with what had happened. He stole a glance up at Lyric and looking at him brought a light, nearly shy laugh. "We'll have to do it more often," he said, then bit his lip. He looked down at the brush in his hands, both hands now covered in dry, white flakes from his grip on the bristles.

"Like, painting?" Lyric asked, looking as innocently as he could down at Jory. He was trying to tease, trying to be funny, but didn't know if it would work and took a half step back, fingers lowering to mess with the hem of his badly-stained shirt.

Jory looked over at Lyric and laughed lightly again. "Yes, painting," he said. "I like painting, it's all...slippery and..." he stopped. He was really bad at the whole innuendo thing. "But yeah, I like painting, especially with you." It was so worth being with Lyric.

Lyric felt discomfort creep in at the continued innuendo. He'd only meant kissing, but Jory's words put him in mind of something he still wasn't able to think about without feeling guilty or disgusted with himself. He twisted at the hem of his shirt instead of replying and caught his mind on painting instead. He looked back toward the room he'd emerged from however long ago. "I wonder if my room's done..."

"If you left it going it's totally done," Jory said. It might be a good idea to stop all together now, he didn't think his body could take any more paint. "Doesn't look like this one's getting finished today." He was more than willing to stop for the day and finish some other time. He considered it a successful day.
