Lyric didn't bother dipping his hands this time. There was enough paint residue that he thought it would work anyway, and he might get another purplish print. He jumped and smacked at the wall with one hand, his sleeve brushing against wet paint as he did so. He didn't even notice. "I win," he said, grinning.

"Aww," Jory said, though he hadn't had any chance of winning. "Yeah, well, I knew you were going to win. He picked up the paint pan and went over to another part of the wall. "I'll just have to put more on the wall than you, I'll win the stuff on the wall prize." A finger in the purpley paint and he was writing his name on the wall.

Lyric hadn't even considered doing something besides handprints, but at the sight of Jory's name, his lips parted again in surprise. "Then I'll have the biggest," he said. He dipped both hands in red, then started to scrawl Lyric in his best graffiti-style letters. It was a lot harder using his hands than a spray from his wand, and he had to keep going back for more paint, some of which dripped onto his sleeves or the edge of his boots.

"Well, mine'll be the prettiest," Jory declared, adding hearts and stars around his name after changing the color again to orange. "You're getting it on you," he pointed out, smiling. There wasn't much, but it was enough to see. He'd gotten Lyric to have fun, which had been a big part of the whole working together on this, anyway.

Lyric looked down, and his eyes finally caught the spots and smears along his sleeves and on his shoes. He swore lightly under his breath, then turned his gaze back to Jory, wicked mischief showing there. He flung his hand out, a sweep of orange paint flying not only toward Jory, but the colored stars and hearts on the wall. Maybe he'd just paint Jory.

Jory's eyes widened, he gasped and hopped back, but wasn't quick enough to get away from the flying paint. "Hey!" he said, laughing. He dipped his fingers in the paint and flung it at Lyric in return. "Gonna make you a rainbow!" Another color coated his fingers to splatter in Lyric's direction, he sat the pan down. It was probably better to have both hands free for this.

Lyric's eyes closed reflexively as droplets of colorful paint splattered across his cheek, his neck and shirt. He blinked them open shocked, and a bit uncomfortable, but determined to get Jory back. He grinned. "I've got a head start, you're already covered." He went for the paint tray, scooping some up into his palm. His eyes glittered in the moment before he moved to throw the paint.

Jory turned from the handful of paint. "Yeah? Well it shows on you better," he argued. "'Cause you're all dressed in black!" All the colors showed up better on the standard background in comparison with his own already colored clothes. He wet his hands and shook them toward Lyric. He was covering Lyric in flecks and the odd glob of paint. Lyric looked like confetti had been dropped on him.

"Ugh!" Lyric tried to turn from Jory, but all that accomplished was a drip of paint at the edge of his face, uncomfortably close to his ear. "My shirt's not black!" He argued. It was grey, but all things considered, that was a technicality. And not at all the point. The point was what Jory would look like with orange hair. He flung another handful of paint.

Jory squeezed his eyes shut just in time to feel the cool, sticky paint splash against his head. "I can't see!" he claimed, reaching for the hem of his shirt to pull it up and wipe at his eyes. "I'm blind, the world is orange!" He laughed and opened his eyes, looking up at Lyric for a moment before finding another relatively clean part of his shirt to wipe across his forehead.

A moment of true worry passed through Lyric before Jory's laughter drew a chuckle from him. "You're just making it worse," Lyric said. A wipe of the shirt wasn't going to get all the paint off, just smear it around. But then, Jory was so covered in paint that maybe it wouldn't make a difference after all.

Jory laughed again and shrugged. "I'll be the rainbow monster, the gay superhero" He glanced down at his torso, where some of the paint had bled through his shirt onto his skin, before dropping the hem of his shirt again. He settled his hands on his hips and struck a pose. "I'll save people with the power of finger painting!"

Lyric's face broke into a smile, and he couldn't help the bubble of laughter that escaped. "Or you'll just mess up their walls," he teased. He looked over at the wall next to them, with its multicolor handprints, tagging, and splatters of orange. "There's too much orange," he observed.

"Well, put up another color, then," Jory said, gesturing to the paint pan. "Besides, I think the wall looks awesome. I think you should do the whole room like that, you could get customers to leave a handprint or something." And they would have fun, it would make Lyric one of the most popular shops in Hogsmeade. "Or it could just be our thing."

Heat streaked up Lyric's neck, settling in his cheeks and across his chest at the thought of something being just theirs. Their couple status was even more technical than last time, as Lyric hadn't gotten up the nerve to kiss Jory, though they'd been having little unexpected moments of fun here and there that he hadn't expected. Still, it didn't feel right having this shown off to everyone. Not if it was theirs. "Maybe I'll let other people do it, too." His gaze moved over the wall as he thought about it.
