Maverick chuckled lightly at her skipping on her exams. Staying an extra couple of years seemed routine now. "I just bought the place a couple weeks ago, I was in London for about two years after moving here." He hadn't minded London, not really, he just had been ready to get out. He wasn't used to city life, and though Diagon Alley was only marginally better, it was enough to count.

Trying to watch, Celyn craned her neck to see, he was doing a good job so far. “How long have you been doing this?” he seemed to know what he was doing, Celyn herself would love to learn, but she felt it required a whole different level of skill. “How’d you start?” she really was curious, she’d love to learn and she’d love to do it.

"I had a friend that was into it," Maverick said. "Been at it practically since I graduated school." Which was the same time he was promoted to Ariel's father, not that he considered Ariel as much more than scum ever since that trip to St. Mungo's. The guy was an idiot. "So...ten years?" That sounded right. What a way to celebrate his tenth year in the business.

Celyn was wide eyed, ten years in the business. He definitely knew what he was doing. "Do you think someone like me could learn?" you got paid for your art, isn't that what she always wanted? The best part was that her art would be permanently etched into someone's skin and treasured. Watching him work, she craned her neck. "It seems like the greatest job a person could have." leaning back into the chair, she placed a hand tenderly on the place where she would receive the tattoo.

"Saying anyone could learn would make e a liar," Maverick said. "But sure, if someone was going to put their mind to it, I mean, they probably have to be able to draw beforehand, but yeah." He shrugged as he moved on to the second half of the piece. "It's a pretty great job, back in Queensland I'd go every year to the city for a convention." It was where he had gotten most of his art done.

Celyn wanted to try, if she kept at it, she might eventually get good at it. It didn't seem easy, she wondered if Merrick was just a regular artist if he just sat around and would sketch. The idea of becoming a tattoo artists was just that much more appealing, she wanted to know more about it. "I suppose you do have to have some form of previous knowledge in drawing." Celyn paused, so he was from Australia. Celyn thought maybe she should go to a convention, talk to artists, see what it was like. "How many do you have." she was mildly curious.

"This one on my hand," Maverick said, holding up his left hand to show her a black design on the back, just between his thumb and forefinger. "I have a tribal band here," he clapped the same hand against his right upper arm. "And a few on my back," he glanced over his shoulder at her and grinned. "But only special sheilas get to see those."

Celyn bit down on her lower lip. What he said made her want to see them more now. "What does a girl have to do to be special." she sat up, leaning forward on her chair. Her eyes roamed his back, she didn't shy away from looking even lower. Celyn's eyes trailed back up his back to his arms and her lips curved up in a smile. He was definitely cute.

Maverick smirked and flicked another glance at her. "I guess you'll just have to wait and see," he teased. He was definitely going to enjoy this non-appointment. He turned his eyes back to the work, which was nearly finished, with a smile still on his lips. She was gorgeous, she was still in school, and he was going to get to touch her about as much as he pleased.

Celyn grinned and bit down on her lower lip, looking up towards the ceiling. Shutting her eyes, she paced her breathing and played with her hair, trying hard not to think about the needle. Celyn wasn't scared nor squeamish, but she knew most pain a person felt was generated by ones own fear and she didn't want to have to think about it. "I'm not a patient person." she breathed, she stole a peek at him and immediately closed her own.

Maverick grinned and added the finishing touches to the work, then turned off the light and pushed away from the counter. "Well, you don't have much longer to wait," he said, waving his wand to make the chair flatten out without warning her. "Is this okay?" he asked, showing her the work to get her okay before he actually started work.

Celyn felt the chair shift, it was sudden, but she was too busy relaxing her mental state to care. Opening her eyes, she looked at the drawing, it was perfect. The size was exactly how she imagined it to be and the font was exact. "Perfect." she amended, not long from now that would be etched permanently into her skin. "Now make with the art." she teased. Celyn moved her fingertips to the hem of her shirt, when he was ready to start, she would raise it up to reveal the smooth skin beneath, leaning over slightly to the side to make it easier for him to draw on her ribs.

Maverick let his eyes sweep over the soon-to-be-exposed skin for a few long moments before he started snapping on his gloves and going through his beginning rituals. "You know, don't feel squeamish about taking off your shirt, the cloth might get in the way otherwise." Besides, it would mean even more skin to watch while he worked, and he was always up for that.

Celyn considered that and shrugged, Celyn tugged her shirt off seeing nothing wrong with it, he was the experienced one in the end. "Better?" Celyn placed her shirt on her lap. Had Celyn known, she would have worn something like a sports bra, not the lacy black one she had. Celyn once more shut her eyes, she didn't allow herself to think about it, instead her mind wandered to her own art, the many portraits in her sketchbook well hidden from curious eyes. Celyn hated when people looked through her art when she wasn't present. She didn't mind showing anyone, it was just that she preferred to show people herself.

Maverick didn't hide the grin that spread over his lips, or the slow examination of her skin before he went to clean the area and brought all his materials over. Once everything was laid out, he set the paper over her skin to transfer the stencil. "Much better," he said, almost as an afterthought through his sudden distraction. "How's that?" He held up a mirror for her to see to okay the placement.
