But if I had a boyfriend, Cammy almost chuckled thinking it was a joke but then it all clicked. She scanned over the boy, now seeing everything she had missed. It was true, a person really does not see what they are not looking for. Now, she couldn't see how she could have missed that he gay. Gay...as in.. a boy who likes boys. "Oh," She said simply, trying to think of what else to say. She had never spoken to a homosexual before. She had always been taught that they were lower than the mudbloods of the world. It never occured to her that Hogwarts would have some, after all in her life those kind of of people were not even spoken of.
Cammy found herself at a loss for words. Should she continue to communicate with him or should she stand up and walk away? How many more of his kind were there anyway? She looked at him again, "So, you're a gay person?"

Jory's smile disappeared and his eyes dropped. His hands came together in his lap and he rubbed his fingers where he usually had rings. "Yeah, I'm gay." You're a gay person? He had never heard anyone say that, it felt almost as bad as when people called him a homosexual, he hated that word. It seemed obvious she had an issue. "Do I need to leave?" He had finally gotten to where he could ignore the guys that said things, not that they were still as bad as they had been in the beginning, but he hadn't been directly confronted with it in weeks.

Cammy shook her head no but remained quiet, not knowing what to do next. Her father would be appalled to hear that he had sent her to a school that let in those types of people. On the other hand, he was being very nice to her and her upbringing had taught her to remain kind to those who returned it. "You don't need to leave," She said after a moment, "Sorry, you just caught me...off guard I guess." She could still be very polite without actually befriending him, therefore pleasing what would be her father's wishes as well as the familiy's.

"I'm used to it," Jory said. "A lot of people get mad at me for it. But I don't know why I should get insulted and get tripped just because I like guys. I mean...you don't get teased for liking them, and guys don't get picked on for liking girls." He shrugged and reached for a piece of grass to peel apart absently as he thought. Maybe he could understand a little, but not really, it didn't make sense that he couldn't like who he had always liked.
