"Oh, no, I can't," Michael said, shaking his head. He didn't want to take something from Markise without paying, even if he offered. "Let me pay something, at least." He didn't want to feel like he was getting charity or that he owed something to Markise. Well, more than he already did since he never would have done this without him.

"You're paying for the clothes," Markise pointed out. "You didn't ask for this, I offered it." The entire thing had been his suggestion, not a sales pitch. He wasn't doing it as a store owner, but as a friend of a friend, to simplify a complicated situation.

Michael eyed Markise for a few long seconds before he nodded. "Thank you, really," he said, taking the bag. "I guess I'll see you later, then, to go to the club." And he would get to dress up, and Markise could point out that he had done something wrong with the makeup, and it would be a great time for all. At least, that was what he hoped.

Markise waved Michael off, then flipped the sign on the door to Closed before turning back to the shop. He made short work of cleaning up the rest of the two makeup kits and sending clothes back to their racks, then headed upstairs at a clip. He had plans to make and a very willful male to appreciate.
