Verity found herself heading out to the lawns. She finished her first N.E.W.T. and it had nearly drained her. It wasn’t that it was necessarily hard, it was just long. She knew the material pretty well, but she had the attention span of a five year old sometimes. The thickness of the exam was enough to make her want to give up. Well, it was over with. At least for today. Verity dropped her bag on the ground and sat down against a brick wall. She put her head in her hands and let out a low groan. It was almost over, she reminded herself.

Tristan had also just got done with his N.E.W.T and he was very tired himself. The tall seventh year yawned as he approached the lawn and he was stretching when he saw Verity. He smirked and walked over to her, with his hands behind his head. He never really bothered with talking to Slytherins because they really didn't like talking to him, but he was bored and it didn't seem like any others House wasn't out there...She would have to do.
"Hello there!" Tristan said leaning against the wall and looked down at her. "It looks like your a bit tired there? N.E.W.T? Bloody hell...So long and...complicated." Tristan said with a frown.

At first, Verity didn't move. She was sure the voice she heard was talking to some one else. It had to have been talking to some one else. After all she had her head buried in her hands. Wasn't that a good sign that she didn't want to talk? Talking required thinking and she didn't have the ability to think anymore. Not after that test.
Still, the voice kept talking. It was enough to make Verity lift her head. She saw his shoes first, but then she squinted up at him. Apparently he was talking to her. "Erm...hello." She managed lamely. His words finally registered with her. "Right. It was awful." She blurted out. "I'm guessing you had your first one today, too?" Why not attempt conversation. Maybe it'll get her head back on the right track. She probably should have been studying. The week was far from over.
