Sammy was sitting in a tree hidden from the eyes of passers by by the large leafy branches. She had staked this spot out carefully for awhile and had determined this was the perfect place to make mischief without anyone seeing her from anywhere in the grounds.
She watched as a group of girls she didn't know came wandering down to the lake talking and giggling completely unaware of what was going on around them. As it was Saturday they didn't have their school bags and looked carefree. From where she was Sammy couldn't tell what house they were from. Not really caring about this detail Sammy aimed her wand carefully and muttered her spell. The girls screamed as cockroaches fell from the sky onto their heads. They ran to the edge of the water and leaped in swatting at their bodies to get the roaches off. The girls were throwing off their clothes to get the roaches out of them and whacking each other. One girl nearly punched the other in her desperation to rid herself of the little creatures.
Sammy laughed so hard she almost fell off the branch. She clamped a hand over her mouth to keep the noise from reaching the shrieking girls as she steadied herself.
Now roach free and soaking wet the girls waddled out of the freezing cold lake shivering and mad as could be. Sammy couldn't hear clearly what the girls were saying from her perch but it sounded like they were going to report this to every teacher in the school. Taking their wet clothes they marched back toward the castle.
Sammy leaned back on her branch satisfied and still suppressing laughter she started looking around for other targets.

Sayden heard someone mutter something and girls scream. He got up ready for an attack. He jumped when he heard laughter above him and looked up to see a heavily leafed branch trembling. It sounded like a girl. Curious he looked around the tree trunk he had been sitting under and saw a group of girls covered in cockroaches running for the lake.
Sayden saw what was funny. The girls were shrieking and falling over each other trying to get the creatures off. He leaned against the tree and watched. He knew the girls they were in Ravenclaw, sixth year Sayden didn't like very much. They giggled every time he walked by them in the hall but never manged to talk to him.
Chuckling he looked up trying to see who had laughed at the girls. The leaves on the branches were too thick to see through. He climbed up as quietly as he could.
He could finally see through the branches to the girl sitting on a thick branch just above him. She was a small Slytherin girl with long hair, bangs swept off to one side, and colored streaks. When she sat back smirking he saw she had snake fangs where her canine teeth should have been. It was pretty cool looking to him.
Hoisting himself on the branch above her he said, "That was pretty good."

Sammy almost fell off her branch when a deep male's voice behind her said, "That was pretty good."
Sammy was frozen. She didn't want to turn to look to see who had found her. She wanted to run but she had already been caught. She would get detention for sure. Maybe worse. How could this have happened? She had made sure that she could not be seen. But she supposed that her laughing might have done it. However he would only be able to hear it if he had been right under her. No one had walked up to the tree she had been sure of that. He must have been there before. How had she not noticed?
"Th-Thanks," She said shakily wishing he would disappear or maybe that he was just a figure of her imagination.

He heard the nervousness in her voice. She had tensed up when she had realized he was there. She thought he was going to get her in trouble. He liked her better when she was relaxed and having fun.
"It's alright," he said watching her tense even more, "I'm not going to turn you in. That's the best I've seen in a long time. It takes some serious skill to conjure all those cockroaches alive and whole. What year are you in?"

"S-Second year," she said trying to hide the fact she had stuttered.
How do I get out of this? Sammy thought desperately. She could try a few spells but for the life of her she couldn't think of one that would be good right now. Maybe she could slide off the side of the branch and run for it? But it was a long drop to the bottom and she hadn't mastered a couching charm yet. What do I do? she thought as more desperate ideas occurred to her each more feeble then the last

"Second year I could have sworn you were a fourth but I guess you are too small for that aren't you?" He smirked at her through the leaves even though she was turned away from him. He could see her tense like she was about to jump but she moved back like she had rethought it.
"You know I'm seriously not going to do anything. I don't like those girls so I came to congratulate you. What did they do to you anyway?"

There was a very clear praising tone to his voice. She caught the smile out of the corner of her eye. It was very sincere and non-threatening. She couldn't help but relax just a little bit. His voice was very comforting.
Figuring she would be in enough trouble if he told anyway she through cation to the winds. "They were just being annoying and I felt like practicing my spell work and they got close and so I set the cockroaches on them. I thought it was pretty funny."

She was rambling just a little out of nerves he thought but that was okay she was relaxing just a little and she had told him the truth so she trusted him just a little.
Two girls sitting on the grass caught his eye. They looked to be in a stony silence.
"Hey look over there." He pointed to the girls. "Watch this," he said with a mischievous smirk.
He didn't know how the idea had come to him but he just wanted Sammy to know he didn't mean any harm. He took out his wand and took aim. He said the spell in his head just for added effect. There was a tidal wave of mud that surged up out of the lake and dumped itself on them along with a few fish. The girls screamed and ran falling over themselves as they slid in the mud. One stood up and was walking shakily so covered in mud you couldn't even tell she was human. The other one who had managed to stand screamed as a fish wiggled down the back of her shirt trying to bury itself in the mud. She ran around in a circle and made the other girl lose her footing. They both fell at the same time and smacked heads. Laying on the ground screaming and crying the girl with the fish down her shirt managed to extract it and flung it in the face of the other girl. She got it hard in the mouth and yelled at the girl. They both began a mud wrestling match with much hair pulling and face pushing.
Sayden was laughing fit to burst with his hand over his mouth to try and keep the sound down tears coursing down his face from the effort.

Sammy watched him point his wand but didn't hear a spell she was confused for a second then heard a large sucking sound from the lake and saw the mud moving toward the girls at speed. It fell on them and they began rushing around in panic. She could hear them a little over their screeches blaming each other. Sammy was laughing just as hard as Sayden biting her hand to try and make sure they didn't hear her and give away their position.
"That," Sammy chocked over her laughter, "was awesome!"
They were a pair of third years who had tried to boss her around the other day. She didn't like them and watching them fight looking like lumpy monsters rising out of the earth again and again was the best thing she'd seen in a long time.

"Thanks," said over his own laughter.
A teacher, Sayden couldn't see which, was running down to the girls yelling at them to stop. Whoever it was slid as they reached the ring of the ring of mud he had deposited with his spell. The teacher fell on their back and sat up mud splatter yelling at the girls even more. They had stopped fighting to look and one of them said something apparently rude to the teacher who retaliated with a threat. The other girl took a handful of mud and threw it at the teacher. The teacher spluttered and glared. "TO MY OFFICE," the teacher screamed.
This was the best trick Sayden had ever played.

As the three marched up to the castle covered from head to toe in mud Sammy turned to Sayden grinning, still laughing.
"That's the best! You even got a teacher. That will go down in Hogwarts's history forever!"
She was completely sure now that he was trustworthy. He wouldn't turn her in for the roaches when she had this on him. This was one of those things her mother would call a juvenile's pact. One can't turn in the other without being in big trouble too.

Sammy's green eyes were over bright and her smile covered her whole face. She looked transfigured. It was almost like someone had stolen the tense guilty second year and left this fun laughing girl behind.
"I had good inspiration." he said indicating herself, "I have to say I love the roaches best though. Put it there partner."
Sayden held out his hand for her to shake.

Sammy reached up and shook his hand. "Partner? What is this a cheesy western?" She said lightly, laughed at her own joke.
She liked him. He his bangs were swept off to one side of his face and the back stuck up. His black hair made his pale face look even paler but that suited him too. It all looked good on him.

"I thought you were a pure blood," he taunted playfully, "How do you know about westerns?"
He gave her is best I'm-having-so-much-fun-with-this look.

"And I thought Slytherins didn't take muggle studies," Sammy said playfully back.
