Lily had always found a homely spot in a kitchen, no matter whose kitchen it was. She just always liked to climb on top of a counter top and smuggle something and not feel guilty about it because if it were anything in this world she loved she loved, loved food. And, she wasn't a chubby monkey like her brother or anything but she felt that she should be.
The warm aromas of cinnamon and vanilla wafted through the air. The house elves didn't seem to mind her company either. "Just stay out of of our way." A grouchy one sneered at her. "We have work to do."
For a while Lily didn't go anywhere, she just sat in a corner eating a cake and listening to pots make loud noises. It was often that her parents said "find your happy place when you miss home" and this was one of those times.

Zilnafa snuck into the kitch warily tickling the pear. She glanced around and slipped through the open portrait. She grinned wolfishly. She didn't like to steal but Jory was so happy and she felt he deserved some chocolates.
Zilnafa's green eyes opened wide as she saw the bustling small bodies. House elves. How could Hogwarts supply them all? Where did they sleep?
There was soo many all scurrying back and forth. Some were wearing aprons and smocks and there were a couple in pants and shirts. All grayish pink bodies and plates of food floating. Carrots were dicing. Zilnafa was so overwhelmed, she didn't see the girl on the counter until she was next to her and bending over to ask an elf for some chocolates.

Lily though she was alone with the house elves until she noticed another girl talking to a house elf. And this girl had nice chocolate brown skin. Lily wiped her face free of crumbs hoping the girl would not realize what a pig Lily was. Suddenly Lily felt the need to flee. To hide so this girl would not see her because Lily saw her robes. A slytherin! Oh yes. Lily did not feel like being tortured or emotionally scarred. That's how most slytherins were now a days...

Zilnafa straightened up eyeing the girl warily. She knew Gryffindor's had a nasty habit of making Zilnafa feel really bad about herself. She wasn't sure if she wanted to converse with this girl.
But still she didn't want to leave without getting chocolates. Ignoring the girl would be rude but making conversation would affect her mind.
"Hi." Zilnafa said so quietly she knew the girl wouldn't be able to hear over the crowd.

The Slytherin didn't look all that monstrous, in fact she looked quite busy. Lily tilted her head. Had the girl said something to Lily. Maybe not. But the girl wasn't leaving. She had to be sure.
"Did you say something?"

Zilnafa winced. Oh boy. Thats how a lot of teasing started.
Did you say something? I'm sorry say it again. No you say it again. Don't walk away from me. Say it again.
She knew she should have kept quiet, should've just ignored the girl. But she really really hated to be rude.
Without looking at the girl, Zilnafa shook her head.

Lily waited for an answer but the girl was unresponsive. She looked, scared maybe of Lily. And she understood, Gryffindors were scary. In a superior kind of way. But Slytherins were scary too...in an intimidating way. There was a difference.

Zilnafa wished the House elves would hurry up with her chocolate. She didn't like how quiet the Gryffindor girl was being. Maybe the girl was plotting something. Maybe Zilnafa should just leave before things got ugly.
Zlinafa snuck a quick look at the girl. She was on the counter still and watching Zilnafa. She looked as nervous as Zilnafa felt. Maybe she wouldn't hurt Zilnafa but some how Zilnafa couldn't bring herself to say something. Her fear of Gryffindors was very large.

Lily watched as the girl's face clouded with worry. Lily drew a pattern on the counter top, wondering if she should say anything because the girl looked like she was about to eat her. Lily unwrapped a cake and offered it to the girl to show her she meant no harm.
"Want it? It has nice icing. It's my favorite." And she was sure to smile too.

Zilnafa broke into a grin when the girl offered her part of the cake. it was incredibly nice to share especially since Gryffindors and Slytherins absolutly never ever get along. Maybe Jory wasn't the only exception.
She smiled and took the cake but paused. Wouldn't the girl want some too? She did say it was her favorite. Zilnafa broke the cake and handed half back to the girl. "Here you have some too."

Lily smiled and took her half of the cake. "Hey thanks. I never did ask you. What are you doing here? I'm hiding out. But the Elves don't seem to mind. Yet. Just wait til knives start to fly through the air. That might be time to split. Ha ha, knives, split. Get it?"

Zilnafa shook her head at the girls terrible joke. She wasn't going to laugh. No offence to the girl she was probably just nervous but Zilanfa had heard better from a drunk man.
"Why do you hang out in the kitchens?" Zilnafa understood the food appeal. She wasn't exactly the skinnest being in Hogwarts. But the girl wasn't at all tubby or large or anything that would suggest she needed lots of food.

Lily threw her head back and just smelled the air. A nice aroma of spices; thyme, garlic. Were the House Elves making a pie? (OOC: pizza pie lol)
"It's a nice escape. From the chaos of this school. It's just like a muggle school. Only people fly around and whisper spells. Muggle schools have something like that only using wires and have crazy people. I like it here better though."
Lily didn't know why she was rambling but it kept the Slytherin engaged at least.

Zilnafa walked a little ways down the table and hopped up. There was now enough room for one of those little Hogwarts boats to pass between the two of them.
"So." Zlinafa sighed imaginaing a real school. All she had was the orphnage and that barely passed. "Whats a real school like?"

Lily shrugged. "Oh, it's nothing compared to here. People are always up to no good, shoving you into lockers. Taking your things. Lunch is always a mystery...the principal is so less gracious then Professor Dumbledore. It's not as amazing as one might think. What was your school like?"
