"Six-two," Dare corrected, though it was a little over that now. He smiled back at Celyn as he closed the book he'd been holding, obviously his by the design he'd inked down the inside of the cover in lieu of his name. He took his own sketchbook and set it down face-up, tossing his book on top of it to start the pile of his stuff.
"I was looking at stuff, can't draw too well when I'm walking," he said lightly. He reached for another book, then gave Celyn a conspiratorial smile. "I was heading for the library, but I can't say I mind the interruption."

Celyn wrinkled her nose at the correction; it was bad enough knowing she wasn't exactly tall, but the difference only made her feel even tinier. "Show-off." [/i][/color] she mumbled teasingly, making sure that he actually heard her while making it sound like she was attempting to hide it. Celyn glanced up her lips twitching up into a grin. Nostalgia came over her, only many occasions had she attempted to draw while walking, but this resulted in her stopping dead in the corridor earning her irritated glances and the occasional curses. "The library..." there was a momentary pause as she shook her head slightly. "Why the library? When you can hide away in one of these corridors."[/color] well it hadn't worked out completely, but it was way better out here. Less of a chance running into some overly critical Ravenclaw like the last time she was there.[/blockquote]

Dare's lips quirked into a crooked smile at Celyn's muttered comment, though he opted not to respond to it. He'd gladly give away an inch or so, but aside from attempting long-term auto-transfiguration, there wasn't anything to be done about it.
"I was actually going to get a book, but you've got a good point," he said, grabbing up a handful of smaller items to sort through. He sat now that there was enough room, folding up long legs in front of him since they might be here a while. "I haven't drawn a corridor in a while," he mused. He hadn't drawn much of anything in a while, not since... He couldn't even remember, and it baffled him. Maybe since before winter.

Celyn wasn't a fan of the books in the library, there was the occasional good muggle book, but that section was lacking in such a way that it had become useless to visit. Picking up a stack of papers, she quickly went through them crumpling her own up and tossing them to the side. "Honestly, I don’t even know why I bother." [/b] she crumpled up more paper of her own and chucked them to the side while making sure to separate his things and put them in a neat pile just beside the one he had started. Celyn lifted her book she had lost her page, but the story was so short she’d be able to find it just as easily. Unlike her other things, she actually gently placed it down while tossing her textbooks and ‘notes’ to the side. Celyn was still trying to figure out why they were with her, what was the point of reading about a spell when she could just try it out. “This has totally helped me. I finally realized how much crap I still have.”[/b] to emphasize her point she crumpled up more of her own stuff and chucking it to the side.[/blockquote]

Dare chuckled and nodded his agreement. "Yeah, it's easier to just toss crap in your book bag than find a trash can around here." It wasn't like they had them waiting at every corner, and he had enough respect for the school not to abandon stuff on the floor.
He looked up from the things he'd just sorted and his eyes caught on Celyn's pile. His brows arched at the sheer amount of paper she was tossing aside. "Okay, I don't feel so bad now. You a Ravenclaw?" he asked. When he took notes, the entire class didn't fill a page, though he knew his brother could fill three easily with the same information.

Celyn almost laughed at the question, she didn't answer but the grin on her face was telling him that she was amused by the idea. "That's what the emblem and the hat say. Lo and behold the shame of Ravenclaw." she waved her hands as if presenting herself. The hat apparently saw something in her that was of the Ravenclaw caliber.
Spotting her notebook, she flipped it open showing blank pages with the occasional word and doddle inside. "It's obvious though; I'm the evil genius with notes hidden in the bottom of my trunk. But don't tell anyone, my professors may actually start caring about my education; not that I do." she didn't mind making light of the situation. Still with all seriousness she went on, sitting down on the ground cross legged rather than kneeling which was really hurting her knees. "I never felt like I needed to do work or ace an exam. No matter where my intelligence lies on a scale, I don't need to prove myself to anyone, least of all to a few housemates." her tone was a bit sour at that idea. If they were so smart, then why did they waste their time complaining and being pissy about her when they could just go study?
Celyn found what was supposed to be an essay lying around. It had only four lines and was due a week ago. Seeing her name at the top she crumpled it up and threw it towards the pile. "Besides. This will all go to good use, the common room could really use with some excitement."

Dare was silent a moment, sorting out quills and other odds and ends from a pile that was mostly his. "Starting a paper fight?" he asked after a moment. He looked up, eying the pile of crumpled papers again. "Good luck, the Ravenclaws I know would pretend not to notice and keep studying." Or walk out. He could see Dru walking out while Silver just sat there pretending not to be bothered. Of course, his brother seemed to be the most stereotypical Ravenclaw around. Willow was on the surface, but... On second thought, there was one he could see joining in.

Celyn laughed, it was very true. Most would sit around giving her odd looks while others would up and leave. "Nah, I was thinking of paper airplanes zooming around or I could make a giant soccer ball and kick it onto everyone's workplace." she was aware of the fact that most people called it football, but the American within her refused to use the term. “I pity them.” Did they not realize that no matter how much information the consumed, no matter how much knowledge they gained everyone faded? It was cynical in one sense, but even if someone became famous, no one would care 50 years after they died.
Celyn picked up another book of her own and frowned. She really needed to check her stuff more often, how long had she been carrying her grandfather’s journal around? She took more of her stuff, it was getting much easier to distinguish between what was hers and what was his it was just the smaller things like writing utensils that may take a while. Especially since her box of pencils was knocked over and all over the place.

"Why do you pity them?" Dare asked, pushing aside a pile of colored pencils. "I wish I had half the patience my brother does. He's got it easy because he's so smart, he always knows what he's doing." Unless it involved talking to people, but Dare was sure that was more a desire not to talk to them than an inability. Talking to people was effortless, it was just a matter of opening your mouth and holding a conversation.
With the exception of a few worn-down pencils and a kneaded eraser, Dare found that the art supplies were all Celyn's. Apparently his were still in his art box at home. His brows drew together slightly. Had it really been so long that he didn't even carry them with him anymore? He wished even more that he had half his brother's ability to study. He'd have his school work done in no time and maybe he'd have some time for himself again.

Celyn twirled a pencil in between her fingers. She pulled her bag towards her and began throwing her things inside, including the balled up parchment. “Well, I understand that not everyone is as laid back as me. I can respect wanting to excel in life, what I pity is the fact that they are over indulgent in work. There is the occasional Ravenclaw that lives a little, but the rest are just…” [/b] there was no point in continuing; it was all she needed to say without needing to go into a great deal of detail. She stopped getting her own things and began helping him with his stuff. His was in a greater mess than her own because her stuff had already been out in the open. “While I’m not really a fan of stereotypes, should I assume you’re the ‘brave’ type who’d rather party than stay inside.”[/b] despite herself being that type, she was still attracted to Silver. Maybe it was because he didn’t judge her even after seeing her drawings, or it was because she liked his quiet demeanor. Whatever it was, she had never really been with the ‘louder’ guys, she always ended up just being their best friend.[/blockquote]

Dare shrugged. "Can't party all the time," he said. "You miss out on stuff that way. Can't sit inside all the time either, unless it's winter." His lips twisted into a crooked smile at the jab to the weather. He hated winter; the endless freezing cold drove him crazy. He really should have spent some time drawing this winter, but there had been so much going on.
"I don't know, I don't understand how like, my brother just lives in books or writing. He doesn't think he's missing anything. I'll draw for hours, for days, but yeah, I guess you're right, I've got to get out sometimes. It's got nothing to do with being brave, though. Just too much energy." He looked over at Celyn. "What about you?" He couldn't see her hiding in the corridors all the time.

Celyn could see his point, she wasn't the party type either. Yes she did have the occasional fun, but that fun was jumping on the bed while listening to music. His smile made her smile, she didn't mind the winter, in fact it gave her many ideas when she sat down to draw.
Seeing his point of view, she couldn't help but nod her head then tipped her head to the side, how could she answer? "I like to watch. You'd be surprised how much more you learn from simple observations than just reading about them. I do enjoy a good book or two,..." [/b] well perhaps more, but that wasn't the point. "...but I prefer just sitting back and watching, hearing, feeling..."[/b] basically the use of her senses, but there was always the one flaw. "Yet sometimes, even then observations can be flawed and it makes me wonder whether or not I am seeing what is before me or..."[/b] Celyn clamped her mouth shut, she sure as hell wasn't going to get into the whole philosophy of life and all that stuff. It was funny how she could be the most quiet person, and yet when she starts she just goes on. "I guess I just seek out knowledge a bit differently than what is conventional."[/b] she shrugged her shoulders, that was quite alright with her. Being frowned upon, being looked down on and even shunned. It was all alright to her because in the end, she wasn't going to see half these people anymore nor have them in her life so why waste her time defending herself?[/blockquote]

"Maybe that's why you're in Ravenclaw," Dare suggested. "I mean, it can't all be about book smarts, right?" Sure, that was the way most people took it, but Dare knew there were more types of intelligence than being able to study. "You into philosophy?" The whole questioning existence thing wasn't entirely beyond him, but it wasn't on his short list of ways to spend an afternoon. He could see his brother spending days on it, though.

“Try telling that to the Ravies. They’d have their wands out in an instant cursing you with uttering such unforgivable words.” Maybe she was dramatizing, but she wouldn’t put it past them to at least give Dare a dirty look. Celyn shrugged, maybe he was right, but no one saw things that way anymore. “As in sitting down and reading about Socrates and Plato? No, not really. Sitting around as asking myself questions, I suppose so.” for a fraction of a second the smile had gone to be replaced by a slight frown, but it quickly evaporated and her face displayed a small grin.
At this point almost everything had cleared up, yet she didn’t want it to just end. She liked Dare’s company. There was no need in explaining much to him and his questions were not offensive, but just simple curiosity. “That’s about as interesting as I get. Unless you’re into the whole living amongst muggle thing then I’m pretty much a bore.” even then there wasn’t much to talk about.
“How long have you been in Hogwarts? I mean, I’ve been here since my first year and I’m positive you nor your brother were sorted during my year.” Celyn wasn’t sure what year they were in, but she was positive that at least one of them had to be in her year while the other could either be a year below or above.

"Ill be graduating in June," Dare said. "Came in May a couple years ago..." Every time he realized how long it had been he was surprised all over again. Almost two years he'd been away from California and only left Britain for the honeymoon. He hadn't been to the beach in two years after growing up so close to it. It was bizarre to think about.
"And I've got no problem with Muggles," he went on. "Mom was a Muggle." He decided Celyn had to be really reclusive or something. He was glad she hadn't brought up anything related to the Daily Prophet, glad she hadn't made the association, but it was a bit strange after how much it had followed him and Michael since he'd gotten here.
