Ryan walked out on to the pitch, but unlike every other time, he did not have his broom with him. This time he walked out with his baseball bat and a bucket of baseballs. Ryan had always been a big sports fan, even in the muggle world, where his favorite sport was baseball. He knew that he was out of place with his muggle sports things in a quidditch pitch, but he wanted to hit some balls. He threw the first one in the air a little and as it dropped he hit the ball hard. It flew in the air and went into the seats. He smiled at the results.

Months Madison had been at this school, a few close friends garnered, but nothing else. Free time and expression were not something she'd had the time for, and lately even her experiments at building Quinn up had fallen on deaf ears. Her friend had disappeared into the ether of the school, somewhere after a boy, she thought.
With a sigh, she had headed to the pitch today, hoping to work on some Keeper drills. She walked out onto the pitch, broom in hand. What she saw there was both unexpected, and comforting. There was a boy out on the pitch, he looked vaguely familiar, maybe he was in her house, or on one of the Quidditch teams. But the interesting thing was what he was playing, slowly she trailed over to him on the pitch. "Baseball? I think you're missing a pitcher, would you like a hand?"

Ryan looked at the girl and smiled. He had seen her a couple of times in the common room but didn't know her name. "I would love a hand. I didn't think anyone else here would know what baseball is." He had been so far away from his first true love of baseball for a long time, just getting owls from his dad about how his favorite team was doing. It was nice to see that someone else knew about baseball.

Madison set her broom down near the stadium and wandered closer to the boy. "Well, what can I say, I'm muggle born from the U.S. can't really avoid it there." She shrugged, "I was my dad's only daughter, I guess the sports stuff rubbed off on me." Not that her dad was especially sporty, he was more a free spirit, but sometimes when mom hadn't been looking, he'd taken her out to play catch, and old muggle tradition.

Ryan smiled "Yea I know. Baseball runs through my family. Any team that you followed?"

Madison shook her head as she held up her hands for a ball to be thrown. "No. I'm from Alaska. Not much baseball going on there. I think there might be a few amateur teams. More enthusiast than fanatic I suppose." Her dad had said something about going to a large stadium when she was younger, seeing a baseball game in the stands, like an American family. They had never followed through on the trip though, Alaska was pretty far away from the East Coast.

Ryan nodded and raised the bat to his shoulders. "Yea that is a ways away. I grew up in a city with a team. I am a home town fan, sometimes embarrassingly, of the Texas Rangers."

Madison couldn't help a chuckle as she tossed the ball at the boy. "Wait, isn't Texas it's own country?" Texas was huge, and no state in the US didn't know where and what Texas was, but it was large enough to be it's own country, and many people that left Texas went back. Maybe it was just that amazing to live there, everyone wanted to go back, or go there to begin with.

Ryan swung and hit the ball up into the seats as he laughed a little "No, but it used to be. It is a state, but it is the best state of them all." he said with a smile "But it does get extremely hot during the summer."

Madison shook her head, muggle history hadn't been a strength before she had found out she was a witch, there was no way she would have guessed it used to be it's own country. "The highest it ever gets in Alaska is around the 70 degree mark. But we have sunlight all day during the summer." On freak occurrences some parts could get as high as 90 degrees, sometimes.

Ryan smiled "It gets over 100, close to 110, in Texas during the summer. It gets to around 90 in the spring."
