What was she doing here again? If there was one place Celyn couldn’t seem to like it was the library. Celyn was an avid reader and enjoyed the momentary indulgence in books, but there was a sense of restriction in the library. The quiet was welcomed, but Celyn hated being quiet herself. She reWizarded that once she was kicked out because of reading n Hamlet out loud just for the fun of it ‘Frailty, thy name is woman!’. Walking past the librarian she noticed the cold and narrowed look she received and in response Celyn’s sarcastically sweet smile was enough to have the librarian grudgingly look away.
Walking down the line of bookshelves she stopped in front of the muggle section. Her nose scrunched up in dissatisfaction. Obviously, the school was lacking in this department and if it wasn’t for the fact that the librarian was already ‘on to her’ she would have marched up and demanded that the school invested in more muggle literature. Celyn’s hand paused on a book she had read all to much. It was a collection of the author Shirley Jackson’s short stories including her two favorites The Daemon Lover and The Lottery.
Celyn was too far back in the library to go and search for a place to sit, so she settled herself on the ground with the book in her lap and immediately flipped through till the end to read the poem first, she always read the poem before reading the short stories. “But if I should leave my husband dear, Likewise my little son also, What have you to maintain me withal, If I along with you should go?" she began reading aloud to herself not caring if there was anyone present… which she doubted who else cared for muggle books anyways?[/blockquote]

Finally, Willow thought to herself, she would be able to get some studying in. Of all the times she'd gone to the library, none of them had resulted in an actual ability to get anything done. The first few times she'd gone in with the thought of taking some time to read something, but as the days passed, and weeks as well, she had realized that she wasn't catching up, even though she wasn't falling behind any longer either.
Today she'd decided to catch up on Muggle studies, and the teacher had an assignment that required a bit more studying than she had stored in her mind. Currently she had three books in her arms, but was looking for another book on muggles and their daily lives. Usually the best books were located on the top shelves, so Willow turned the corner onto a new row, and started down the aisle on her tiptoes, scanning the top shelves of books.
Willow didn't see the girl that was sitting on the floor, or hear her talking, because in her mind she was going over the facts and information she needed to write the essay for this class. As she progressed further down the aisle, she still didn't see the girl, or hear her, so when Willow attempted to move over, instead she tripped over the girl on the floor, her books falling out of her hands, as she landed haphazardly against the girl on the floor.

Celyn was too busy reading to sense anyone near, finishing the poem she turned quickly to one of her favorites and read on, lips in a gentle smile rereading some lines just because she liked the sound of them.
Something collided with her thigh and if it wasn't for the fact that Celyn’s reflexes were working fine she would have fallen over. Using her hand to steady herself she almost groaned as her book was knocked out of her hand. “Is it that hard to notice a person sitting on the floor?” she was being sarcastic and it was obvious in her tone. Pushing herself up in a standing position she dusted herself off and offered a hand to the girl not paying attention to how she looked or even who she was, her eyes were too busy scanning the books for her own.[/blockquote]

Stunned, it took a moment for Willow to accept or even notice the hand that the other girl was giving to her. The sarcastic comment went over Willow's head as she really had not noticed the other girl. She took the hand up, straightening to her full height, which was about the same height as the other girl, perhaps just a bit taller, not even enough that someone would notice unless they had been looking. "I didn't notice you, I'm sorry."
She looked up at the top shelf that she had problems reaching on her own unless she was determinedly on her tip toes, which she had been. "I was just trying to find a specific book. I had a feeling it was up on the top shelf," she shrugged, "but I could be wrong. It might be in the next aisle." Willow took a good analysis of the girl standing in front of her, but she couldn't seem to place her, even though she seemed familiar. It was almost as though she had seen her, but hadn't spoken to her, which wasn't copacetic with her experiences since she'd been back thus far.

Rambling finally got Celyn attention, but she did a double take, but managed to keep a neutral expression. Had it not been the silver hair, Celyn wouldn’t have been able to recognize the girl at all. There was nothing exotic in the girl’s features, but her shock of silver hair was enough to drag up Celyn’s memories of that day by the lake and she almost swore at this encounter. Still, Celyn always found something amusing about any situation and in this she obviously didn’t recognize Celyn herself. Many scenarios played in her head, but there was one that stuck out the most. What if she pretended to not know the girl? Maybe she could actually see what this girl was like and Celyn didn’t have anything against… Wynn was it?
Mustering a kind smile she looked up and pulled out her wand. “That’s why we have these.” Celyn didn’t want to harm the books so she pointed her wand and a row of books floated gently down aligning themselves on the ground in order. “Take your pick.” Celyn leaned down some titles were awfully familiar. “Who would have guessed Hogwarts has Bram Stoker’s Dracula.” She leaned down and picked up the book grinning, looks like she’d be spending time in front of the fireplace with this.

A wand was the easy way to get a book Willow supposed, but it was the search that sometimes yielded the best results. The hunt was thrilling, the ability to find something with manual work as rewarding, if not more than using magic to find it. "I like to look for the books, without magic. It reminds me that some things in life, are worth the trouble." Books were top on the list of things that were priority.
Willow stood on her toes again, and reached for a title the girl hadn't tilted over, a large grin lighting her face. "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous Muggles,." Willow pointed to the cover, it was what she'd been looking for, even if she hadn't known the name of the book that she was looking for. The library took care of the determined few.

Willow did raise a good point, but Celyn found it pointless. Why would someone want to waste time searching for a book when they could get it and spend more time reading it? Celyn didn't word this, no point in having her 'restart' begin harshly. "So that's the book? Look's.... exciting." Celyn minimized the sarcasm, but a person who was sharp eared would be able to catch on. Celyn wondered how it would be fun to search for this book, but she wasn't judging to each his own.
Celyn looked at the title and almost mentally cringed. She knew 'that life' while she was a pureblood her family had earned their money and some of it was by being amongst the muggles. Turning back to the book in hand she flipped through the pages and was glad that the book was still in perfect condition. It was obvious that barely anyone had touched the book and few that did had taken obvious care. “Sometimes I’m glad the school ignores these books, means they’re less abused.” her comment may have come off as satire, but she still meant it.[/blockquote]

Willow looked at the book in the girl's hand and shook her head, "sometimes I wish they were more abused. It would mean that people were spending more time with them, and getting to know the people that these books talked about. It would also tell a story about the people reading them." She smiled as she brushed hair out of her face, her green eyes dancing.
She had a thing for history, and how people related with the items in their possessions. When people treated their books like something needed, it expressed a highly intellectual society, keeping them closeted away meant they had respect for the inherent nature of books, but missed the underlying drive to learn everything the world had to offer. "My name's Willow, by the way." She looked the girl over again, "you look familiar, but I can't place you. I'm sorry, it's my first month back to Hogwarts after an exchange program, I've been meeting a lot of new people."

"Just because it was abused doesn't mean it was read. Some people check out a book telling themselves they'd read it, but it just stay's at the bottom of their bag. Unless you've got the power of psychometry on your side..." the rest was easy enough to guess. As Willow introduced herself Celyn would remember the name this time. "I go by Celyn." It seemed that Willow hadn't been back to Hogwarts for very long, so she was here long ago? She shrugged the thought off, it wasn’t important.
"That’s common. I’ve been here since first year and there are still people in my year I recognize but don’t know.” She gave Willow a knowing smile, seeing that Willow got her book she allowed the books to float back to their place on the shelves. “Out of curiosity, what’s with the choice of book?” she nodded her head in the direction of the book in her head. If that was her idea of light reading she wondered if this girl was one of those overachievers. Looking at the girl’s robes she could see the Ravenclaw emblem. Was she one of those that mocked Celyn for being one of the more lowly students in Ravenclaw? She prayed she wasn’t or else there would be much more strain.

Willow preferred to think optimistically, if the books were worn at the very least people were trying to read them, even if they never got around to it. Whereas if they never got taken off the shelf there wasn't an opportunity to be read at all. As for psychometry, Willow shuddered at the thought, it was as rare as a Parseltongue, and while there had been rumors recently of some young woman who presented with the ability, divination was not her favorite, there were to many variables.
Looking down at the book in her hands, and the books that were on the floor that she had dropped, and forgotten until this moment, she couldn't help a blush. As she stooped to pick up those books, she shrugged, "Muggles studies essay. I like to get all of my facts in order when I write. She didn't require any references, but five should be a safe bet for validity."

So she was in Muggle Studies as well. Celyn had only recently signed up just so she could get an easy 'O' her A's, E's and occasional P's weren't exactly getting her anywhere. Celyn was not one who really cared about working hard. She didn't learn for grades, she learned something because she wanted to. "I usually just write whatever comes to mind. Apparently I'm good at writing something that issn't researched and making it sound correct." also known as bulls**tting, but there was no point in using such terminology with someone she barely knew. For all Celyn knew this girl could be the type who hated 'words unflattering to come from a woman's lips' her grandmother had said that countless times and Celyn never listened.
She picked up 'The Lottery' from the ground and held it beside 'Dracula', both books she was in love with and she had back home. "I probably should be doing some work but..." who was she kidding, Celyn wasn't in the mood to write an essay or write anything that was to be handed in and graded. "... no point." she finished.

Willow chuckled a little bit, "I keep saying that every time I come into the library, I really should be doing some work." she shook her head thinking about Jory, Dare, and that other boy she had met. "But every time I come in here, I meet someone new and interesting." It almost bothered her that the girl didn't put to much effort into writing her papers, especially since she also had a Ravenclaw emblem emblazoned, but she remembered that most students didn't. She, like a few others excelled, but she couldn't fault those that experienced life.
"I think I have a stack of books next to my bed in the dormitory waiting to be read." All of them had been picked up on an excursion to the library in which she had not been able to read them, because of the people she was with. And a stack of books was probably and understatement, more like a pyramid of books stacked on both sides of her bed, and she was cycling through them too, just not as fast as she would like.

Celyn only shook her head with a light chuckle. "I almost never meet new people. Too busy with my 'projects' in some abandoned classroom." she wouldn't elaborate unless the girl asked about her projects she wasn't going to just up and tell her what she does on her spare time. "Never made an effort to get to know people. Then again.. even if I had no source of entertainment I wouldn't do my work either way. Ravenclaw pride huh..." she muttered the last line sarcastically. She was nothing like the typical Ravenclaw; obviously the sorting hat messed up in someway.
Celyn thought back to her own dorm. She had never really spoken to any of her dorm mates and was always awake before the rest so she never really met any of them. Thinking back to her own bed she could faintly remember having a few books that she read every night atop her trunk. "My mom is owling me a few more books since the library here is lacking..." she looked around disappointed with the fact that there was only a tiny section dedicated to muggle writers. "I'm nearly done with the few books I brought hopefully she gets something by Oscar Wilde. I've been craving 'The Picture of Dorian Gray'." she caught herself speaking a bit more than she was used to and it made her mentally frown.

The Picture of Dorian Gray was not on her list of approved books, Willow knew. It had been a long time ago that she'd read it, after all it was an acclaimed book, but it had been so dry. The premise was good, but the content left one wondering how long it would take to turn to the next page. "I'm sure if you asked Madam Pince for a book or books she would order them for the library." She gestured at the small shriveled librarian, "she orders things for me all of the time."
Willow couldn't say that she understood not doing her homework, after all, she did her work religiously, and enjoyed doing it. She thought it signified a great deal of respect and honor that Ravenclaws were represented the way they were. After all, it was their duty to uphold the esteem and achievements of their predecessors.

The suggestion made Celyn want to laugh. Ask Madam Pince! The idea was almost bewildering to think about, then again the girl may not have quite the same history as Celyn did with Pince. "She's been trying to find an excuse to have me banned from this place see for yourself." she nodded her head in the direction of Madam Pince who was trying to pretend to be be reading a book, but looking over at Celyn. Celyn raised a hand and waves with a sweet smile earning her a glare.
Celyn turned back to Willow as if to confirm that the idea of asking was completely useless."How about we go find a nice place to sit. Standing around isn't really the best way to get anything done. Work or not." Celyn had left her bag at some table earlier hopefully no one touched it, or else she'd give Madam Pince many reasons to have her banned from the library.[/blockquote]
