Rowan's first class hadn't gone well at all, and he was still nursing his pride over it. Not to mention the time he'd spent in counseling after the incident with the pregnant student. Who, it turned out, was older than he was. But she'd been pulled from his class—likely all her classes, from what the nurse had said—so he had that much less to worry about. Pregnant!
He worked to clear his mind as he found his place at the front of the classroom. Hogwarts had been without a Charms professor for a while now, so it was time to get things cleared up and get on with teaching. He swished his wand, and the topic of the day's class wrote itself on the board in straight, even letters.
Basic Charms
Rowan leaned back against the desk as he had last time and cleared his throat to get the class's attention. "This time we'll be covering basic charms. I've separated you into three groups, and each group will be given a charm to practice. Practice on your own or with your friends, it doesn't matter. Just practice in between classes until you can perform the charm comfortably. You'll be showing me next time.
"Group one is Adara Snow, Annabelle Hennessy, and Madison Foster," he said, looking down at his notes. "You'll be practicing Aguamenti. If you're already confident with this spell, you can work with a student from another group to help them out.
"Group two is Jewels Tyler, Layne Razz, Quinn Ashwinder, and Sylvester Blackwood. You'll be practicing Accio and Depulso, the summoning and banishing charms.
"Group three is Dare Blackwood-Hardt, Markise Sterling, and Zilnafa. You'll be practicing Accio and Wingardium Leviosa."
Rowan went over the motions for each of the spells he assigned to be sure the students had the proper wand movements and pronunciation, then tucked away his wand, leaning against his desk once more.
"That's all for this class. I know I promised you a massive lecture, but I'm sure you'll all practice your charms enough in your free time to make up for it." Right. "You're dismissed."
He'd stick around for any students who had questions, but somehow he doubted they'd stay in the classroom any longer than it took to pack their book bags.
((Points for this class will be assigned upon participation in the next class, based on effort, improvement, skill, etc.))
