Yeah, she didn't want to buy anything, Dare thought. Not that it mattered, but it had been worth a try. "Thanks for the vote of confidence," he said, then pushed the subject back to Lalita. "So you said your agency sent you here? Are you going to Hogwarts this term? I mean, no offense to whatever your agency was thinking, but there's not a lot here. A lot more in London."

Lalita pursed lips and calmly with a hint of bitterness she said, "I think that was the point actually. It's close enough to somewhat commute to London, but I think my parents made her move me somewhere where I can finish up my education." She left out the fact that because of a longer job last year, she had missed out on the last semester of school. Therefore she should have graduated but didn't. She was only here to finish out the year and then she'd be back where more jobs were available. But, with a dry laugh she said, "But I don't think they were counting on a photo and art shop, or the fact that London isn't too far away. I'll get my work still."

Dare's lips quirked at that. "Did your parents want you to stop or something?" he asked. If they had, and she wasn't going to, it made him wonder how old she was. Or maybe her parents just weren't that involved. His father certainly hadn't been for the past few years. Not that it mattered. In the end, things had worked out.

"Sort of. They want me to focus on my education more. They got angry last year when a gig got me moved through out the country. So, now I need to finish school before I do anything more like that." Lalita didn't think that school was so important, especially when she had only one year left, but whatever. The parents had played the parents card and she was stuck with the rest of the deck. Not going to be able to win for a while.

Dare gave a half-shrug. "May as well have something to fall back on," he said. Lalita was gorgeous, there was no denying it, but models had a short shelf life and he couldn't imagine that any but the luckiest people could retire at thirty or forty. Not that it would matter in his career, since he'd be doing it either way. "Are you in 7th year?" he asked, looking aside at her. She hadn't said specifically, so he figured he'd ask.

Lalita nodded at the same time as she said, "Yeah." Still, she mentally added. Then outloud, "What about you?" He looked old enough to have graduated but at the same time, could easily still be in school. She tried to think back to the start of their conversation, had he said anything to prove otherwise? Well, nevertheless the question was already out there for the answering.

"Yeah," Dare returned. "I'm hoping to scrape up a few NEWTs more for the principle of it than anything right now." NEWTs weren't going to affect his art sales, he was sure. But Michael had never once assented to his offer to drop out, and in fact had given him such a look when he hadn't listed Defense on his course schedule that he'd signed up immediately. He figured he was required to get at least an E in that one if he wanted to keep the peace at home.

Lalita nodded, she was in it just to finish. She had barely given NEWTs a second thought. Wow, this was going to be a long year! But, for the sake of continuing the conversation she asked, "So, what classes are you going to take NEWTs for?" Considering he was an artist, she had no idea what he would take. Nothing in the school was anything like art or modeling in her case. Maybe his choices would help her to chose her own.

Dare's nose wrinkled at the list of classes, and he had to think to remember them all. "Transfiguration, runes, divination, defense... charms... potions... and muggle studies," he finished. He took a breath and his eyes focused again as he glanced aside at Lalita. "Some of those are just easy O's, but some of them I'm going to have a hell of a time in." Charms, of all things. He wasn't about to volunteer that information, though.
