Chase's lips lifted at one corner, and he adjusted his arms more comfortably around Dru. "You can have a huge canopy," he said, "and as many books as you want." He knew the likelihood of getting into trouble making an offer like that, but if it made her happy, he'd buy her as many as she could read. It was strange picturing Dru in a room full of antiques and frills, but he supposed that if she'd enjoyed the other rooms so much, it made sense.

Dru smiled and let her eyes move over Chase's face as she thought. "What about a couple of cats?" she asked, finding his eyes again. "I'll need something to keep me company." It would be hard enough to have him gone all the time, and she knew nothing could replace him, but at least a cat would be better than nothing.

"Anything you want," Chase repeated. He would insist that the cats stay out of the bedroom when he was in it, but that was a reasonable demand. "It doesn't have to be in New England," he told her. "I can apparate." As long as she didn't want to live permanently in Europe he should have no difficulties. Otherwise, Floo Powder was quite a bit more difficult to hide. A vacation home was always a possibility, though. He would need someplace to stay during business trips.

Dru smiled up at him, though she didn't know where she would want to live. She had always thought she would stay here, but if he was going to be in New England... She had moved away from friends before, hadn't she? There was always owls and visits, though. It wasn't like she was around anyone very often, anyway. "Well if I think of anything else, I'll let you know."

Chase nodded, and his gaze dropped to her curved lips. They hovered for a moment before he lifted his head and looked around. The lawns were too big to be sure they weren't seen, and he'd been holding her for some time now. He debated whether stealing a kiss would really make that big of a difference, then decided that yes, it would. He could figure out how to explain this away, but there would be no finding loopholes if someone asked if he'd kissed her. "Walk with me," he said. He was ready to visit the Room of Requirement.

"You don't even have to ask," Dru said, smiling at him. They had just been discussing their future lives, more or less together. It was possibly one of the strangest things she had ever done, and it brought dangerous thoughts to her mind. But the same thoughts that were dangerous were the thoughts that told her this was all just right.
