Dru firmly pushed away thoughts of what she was missing out on to focus on what she had and smiled at that bow. She had imagined those kinds of things, the bows and the dancing, she had seen them at the Masquerade, but even that had just been an elaborate fantasy. "I'll have to practice," she said, "Try to get up to your level."

The corners of Chase's lips twitched with amusement and one lifted a bit. Good luck, he thought, though what he said was some general words of encouragement as he straightened from his bow. That had all come far too easily, and he felt some discomfort at the melding of his home life with school. He'd always kept them carefully separate. Even his visits to Carolynn had been separated from school, but he had just waltzed in a corridor. He'd bowed over Dru's hand like some giggling miss he was obliged to dance with at a ball. And he hadn't given it a moment's thought until it was over.

Dru was under no delusions that she would ever be a proper miss fit for some high society ball, but that didn't mean she couldn't practice and improve. "So," she said, taking another deep breath, "Has it been crazy tonight because of the curfew thing?" She knew that curfew had been lifted, if only for tonight, and she also knew that Adara wasn't helping Chase, and assumed that she was going straight down to Emilian when she left.

"Not because of the curfew," Chase said. His feet spread on the floor and his posture relaxed back to normal as he went on. "It's been crazy because of what was going on in the Great Hall." The mixed group of Slytherins and Gryffindors hadn't been the only students he'd stopped, nor the only ones he'd confiscated things from. Every house had gotten docked points for the night, though it would be easy to guess which had lost the most. He'd never liked Slytherin anyway.

Dru shook her head and looked down the hall where the sound had come from. "That's so immature," she said, her eyebrows coming together. She knew that Dare and Michael had had a hard time, but knowing that people were doing things because they had a civil ceremony went beyond that. "What have they been doing?" she asked, though she had the feeling she didn't want to know.

"They haven't been doing anything but try," Chase said. "I've got no clue what they planned to do with half the stuff I confiscated, but it wouldn't have been pretty." He could only imagine what they'd meant to do with suggestively-shaped Muggle toys, but since the idiots had been trying to charm them, he could only imagine. And the Slytherins had been worse, with pockets full of wicked-looking potions.

Dru shook her head again, "It's sick what some of these people do to them." She didn't know it all, but she had heard enough mumbling in classrooms and corridors about the two. It was hard to believe that some people thought that it was perfectly fine to do things like that to other people, but then she remembered how fanatical Purists could be and it made sense.

Chase gave a noncommittal shrug, declining his right to comment. He wouldn't go so far as to call it sick, just immature and unnecessary. They knew they weren't welcome and had left the school months ago. All Chase had wanted was Michael out of his dorm, and at least some of his discomfort was because of Emilian. Emilian, who did not deserve Adara.

Dru gave one last sigh and then focused on Chase. "Well, Dare and Michael left a few minutes ago, so there's not much anyone can do, now." It was a good thing that they were gone and that everything had happened without any problems, at least as far as she had been able to tell. The two had looked incredibly happy throughout both the ceremony and the reception.

Chase gave another half shrug, though almost immediately after his eyes sparked. If it was over, he could leave the Great Hall to Filch and the corridors to the prefects, leaving him free. That sounded so much better than patrolling until one-thirty in the morning.
"So what are your plans for the rest of the night?" Chase asked. His eyes took a trip down the clingy dress that Dru was wearing, and he started thinking another night in the Room of Requirement was long overdue.

Dru shrugged, "I don't know, getting out of this and getting comfortable." It was only after she spoke that she realized what she was saying and the way Chase's eyes were moving over her. Her eyes dropped and she shifted slightly. "Of course, I'm open to suggestions," she amended, raising her eyes to his face again. A small smile pulled at her lips.

Chase's lips curved into a wolfish smile at Dru's change of story. "I might be able to help you out with your plans," he suggested. He flicked a reflexive glance down the corridor, then shifted close to Dru, bringing their bodies a breath away. His hands settled on her hips, then moved, sliding up her back and subtly searching for whatever kind of clasp was holding it closed. He wouldn't start now, but he'd make note of it. "Room of Requirement?" he asked softly.
