"Relax," Gabby said as she saw Chase grow tense, "Emilian didn't do this, my half brother did, years ago." Before Gabby could say anything else, someone else came into view, another girl, someone a lot older than herself. "Hi," Gabby said with an open, friendly smile. "I'm Gabby" she said as way of an introduction.

Chase's brows knitted. Why did everyone want him to relax? There was someone running around hurting girls, and he was the only one who cared! The Headmistress conveniently slipped his mind as righteous indignation swept through. Chase dragged his gaze away from the girl, still unsure whether Emilian had struck here, and turned to Dru. "I was taking a walk, and I found her here," he said. Taking a walk, my left foot. He'd been looking for Emilian. Chase looked away to hide the flare of crimson in his eyes.

Dru nodded slightly in response to Chase's answer, "I'm Dru." She looked at the other girl, Gabby, faintly wondering why the younger girl would be out in the forest. She had caught a little of the look in Chase's eyes, but more importantly she had seen him turn his gaze from her. It made her uncomfortable and her good mood began to slowly fade away.

Gabby noticed the small, silent exchange between Chase and Dru then it suddenly dawned on her. Dru and Chase were together. Gabby felt uneasy now, slightly caught between the two. "Well," she said standing up, "I think I might go now. It was nice to meet you Dru and thanks for the warning Chase, I'm glad it was you who found me and not someone else." Gabby smiled at them both, trying to convey that everything was ok. Then she stepped past them out of the clearing and continued through the forest up onto the lawns. ~Now I have to find someowhere else,~ Gabby thought, she desperately needed peace and quiet, but it seemed that it was nowhere to be found.

Chase watched Gabby disappear into the shadows, unsure whether he was relieved that she hadn't run into Emilian or disappointed that Emilian wasn't nearby. He'd become obsessed, and the object of his obsession was nowhere to be found, an anomoly in Chase's opinion. How could someone so active be so difficult to locate?

Dru took a couple of steps closer to Chase, forgetting about Gabby. "Something wrong?" Something was up, but it was doubtful that he would tell her without quite a bit of coddling. There was a sense of loss that came over her with the disappearance of her good mood, it had been so long since she had been in a genuine good mood.

Chase blinked, the color of his eyes melting back to guarded red-brown. "Nothing," he lied, one last flickering spark betraying him. He didn't bother to hide it. Dru had to know. He looked at her, wondering for one brief moment what it was about her that had allowed her to escape when the ever-powerful Vannah hadn't.

Dru came in front of him, "Liar," she challenged, looking up into his eyes. Her eyes sparkled some, apparently her mood hadn't gone away completely. She wanted him to talk to her, she could help, they could talk whatever it was out, couldn't they?

One dark brow arched, returning Dru's challenge. "And what are you going to do about it?" The question was multi-dimentional. She could take it however she wanted--anger and frustration were laced with a sexual edge.

Dru bit her lip lightly and tilted her head, "Well...I should force whatever it is out of you. Because that's what a good devoted girlfriend does, right?" Or she could do what she had originally wanted to do when she first saw him going into the woods. But she wanted to know what was wrong. Decisions, decisions.

If it needed forced out, then apparently she didn't know, and Chase wasn't about to enlighten her. It was safer for her, and would be far easier for him, if Dru stayed out of his issues with Emilian. On that thought, Chase sought to distract. He shifted closer to Dru, his eyes still flickering hints of scarlet. "I have some ideas about what a good, devoted girlfriend could do, and it's got nothing to do with talk." The edge of his lips quirked wickedly. "There might be some force involved, though."

Dru couldn't stop her mind from jumping to what she knew he meant and her lips curved up into a smile. "What if I'm not in the mood for that? What if I want to find out what's bothering my dear boyfriend?" The playful way that she said it masked the fact she really wanted to know what was wrong, while the question also served to make her feel less guilty for letting it drop when she did. Because she asked it, she would be able to tell herself later that she had asked, even if she didn't find out the answer.

Chase slipped his arms around Dru, letting go of Emilian for the moment. "If you're not in the mood, I might be able to help you out." He pressed a light, teasing kiss to the corner of Dru's lips. He ignored her other question. It wouldn't do any good to try and distract her if he was going to bring it up again.

Dru put her arms around his neck, grinning at him. "And how do you plan to do that?" She still wanted to know, but she pushed it to the back of her mind to bring up later. She kissed just beneath his collarbone, opening her lips slightly to taste him. Just for the moment she'd let herself be distracted.

"Mmm, like this," Chase murmured, one finger beneath Dru's chin drawing her mouth to his for a kiss. He thought about taking her down to the leaf-strewn forest floor, but that thought brought others, memories of a moonlit night with another girl. He wouldn't diminish that memory with a new one, even if he'd thought he should.
