Gabby drew her cloak around her as she hurried in striding past all the trees going deeper into the forest. After the unpleasant incident with Emilian and the others in the forest she had vowed she would never return, but she always ran into someone elsewhere and she really just wanted to be alone.
Gabby carefully noted her path so she could find her way back out again when she came to a small clearing, encased by a ring of trees and a small stream, running down one side. Gabby went and sat down, her back against the smooth bark of a big tree by the stream.
She fidgeted a bit until she was comfy and then, wand at hand in case there was trouble she closed her eyes and set her mind free, letting thoughts and feelings from her recent time at Hogwarts come tumbling out. As she went through all that had happened, tears started to silently slide down her cheeks and her scar throbbed.

Chase was striding through the forest perhaps a bit quicker than was strictly safe, but then, the forest itself was dangerous, wasn't it? He picked his way carelessly over dead limbs fallen from trees, rocks and who knew what else, more for the energy it expended than any destination. He was distracted, painfully so, and all he needed was to get away from the temptation to kill, to avenge the past through the present.
He wasn't even listening, really, but still the sound reached his mind. Soft, feminine sobbing that tore through his anger and focused it. His first thought, of course, was that Emilian had struck again, though what were the chances? He knew of only two girls Emilian had accosted; the others had apparently gone willingly. Still, Chase paused, then turned into the clearing.

Gabby's eyes were bright with tears and her cheeks flushed. She heard someone enter the clearing and looked up. Standing there was a stranger to her. He looked older and she had no idea who he was, she knew she could be in danger as she was alone in the forest and her hand inched a little closer to her wand, just in case although Michael had been right when he had said she could be easily overpowered if physical force was used. "Who are you?" Gabby said softly, her words floating through the stillness of the forest.

Chase stopped in his tracks, the girl's worry easy to sense. She looked ready to bolt, or maybe to try and hex him if he startled her. "My name is Chase," he said at last, red-brown eyes not shifting from the girl for a moment. "Who are you?" He listened carefully to the sounds of the forest, the occasional flutter of wings or crunch of leaves. "Are you alone?"

"My name's Gabrielle, Gabby for short." She relaxed a little, her fingers uncurling from their hold on her wand. She didn't want him to think she was going to try and do anything. "And yes, I am alone." she said.

Chase saw the girl relax, and his own tense muscles eased. She'd stopped crying, at least. "It's dangerous to be out here alone. This whole damn place is dangerous, you should be up at the school with your friends." Chase moved closer to the girl to see her better through the shifting light. She looked young, hopefully too young for Emilian's tastes. Of course, there was really no telling, considering the things he'd heard.

"Friends," Gabby snorted, "up there, i have more enemies than friends, although it's my own fault, too stupid to think." Another tear slid down Gabby's cheek. She had been looking foward to coming back to school after everything had happened and now all she wanted was to be back at home, away from the mess she had created at school. Gabby's scar pickled and she tried it ease it without Chase noticing.

(((Q-where is her scar? Is it somewhere he'd see it?)))
"Still, you shouldn't be out alone. There's guys around here that aren't as nice as I am." And he didn't know that anyone would describe him as nice. Chase saw that lone tear on Gabby's face, and maybe he wondered, but he didn't ask. He didn't want to deal with more tears, not after Dru's. Hers were more than enough.

((On her collar bone, but because of what she's wearing the tip is just noticable))
"I needed some peace and quiet" she said, subconciuosly rubbing the tip of her scar to soothe it, "Everywhere else I tried was full of people." Gabby wiped the tear off her face, for the moment the flood of tears was stemmed and would be for quite some time. she was used to bottling everything up and Gabby didn't want to break down in front of Chase, she had only known him for five minutes.

Chase repressed a long breath of frustration. He wasn't the type to drag information out of someone he knew, let alone someone he'd just met. He looked into the forest, his eyes following the edge of the clearing a moment. "It's your life, not mine if he finds you." The words were low, maybe not even meant for Gabby to hear. And he wasn't even sure he believed them. Hadn't this become his life?

"If Emilian finds me?" Gabby question, her scar had now settled down but by soothing it, Gabby had inadvertantly let it show. Now she felt a little afraid, she knew what Emilian had done, and she had heard something about Chase as well. Gabby felt more vulnerable than ever.

Chase's eyes returned to Gabby's in a flash, brown irises ringed in crimson. "Exactly." He looked at the girl, trying to decide simply through observation how much she knew about Emilian, if she knew where he was. His eyes were piercing, seeking some knowlege beyond what she would reasonably tell him, but he found no answers.

Gabby made a decision. "Would he do anything worse than this?" she asked, revealing her scar to Chase. Recently she had grown more relaxed about who saw it, it was part of her and it hadn't been her fault, she had nothing to be ashamed of.

Chase's eyes shot to the scar, then narrowed, his jaw tightening. "Yes." This was why he was doing what he was doing. "Where is he? Is he close?" If he was attacking...if things were escalating, he didn't have time. He had to stop this; there was no waiting for someone else.

Dru had seen Chase go into the forest and followed him in a few steps behind. She lost sight of him for a few minutes before coming into a clearing and saw him again. "Chase," she said, a broad smile coming over her face as she came up to him. But with the motion, another part came into view and she saw the other girl. Her steps slowed as she looked from the girl to Chase, she had planned on giving him a big hug and a kiss, she had been in a rather good mood the whole day, but with the other person there she pulled herself to a stop.
"Hey," she said, glancing back at Chase, who was this girl? And why was she pulling the edge of her shirt down in front of Dru's boyfriend? She couldn't stop the questions from coming to her mind, even if the girl was younger and she and Chase weren't close enough to have been doing anything.
