Luna had just gotten sorted into Hufflepuff and had to find the common room. But she didn't know where to go, she was a scared of getting lost. Her blue/green eyes started to looked at the many stairs. Luna then thought to herself that see needed to be brave and not scared. She also started to think of how people would treat her even though she was pureblood, she was scared that people would make fun of her height. She was 11 years old and only 4'8 tall. She then told herself to stop worrying and just find the common room. After all she had to get use to this new place.

Luna started to walk up the stairs but when the stairs started to move. She ran down the stairs then she started to giggle softly. 'It was only the stairs, they must be changing like my foster mother told me' thought Luna to herself. When Luna looked up at the stairs she saw that almost of the moved. 'Oh no what I am suppose to do now. Don't know which staircase to use.' she thought. Luna started to think and started to get scared. She started to think that if she didn't find her common room soon that she would get in trouble.

Markise had just come from yet another presentation in one of his classes, and so he was wearing his school robes again, the Hufflepuff crest bold yellow against the black cloth. He was heading deliberately to his dormitory to change; the robes were cumbersome and ugly. He had his book bag against his hip, the strap stretching across his chest and over the opposite shoulder, and he wasn't really paying attention until the staircases started moving. It was going to take him forever to get to the Common Room if they didn't just pick a direction.

Luna went up the stairs again this time while walking she saw a guy walking up the stairs too. She also saw that he was in Hufflepuff like her too, she want to ask him if he knew where the common room was but she was too shy to ask him. She started to think if she should just follow but then she thought that he might get mad at her.

Markise was too goal-oriented at the moment to notice the girl trailing after him. Even if he'd seen her he wouldn't have paid much mind; girls had called him cute, but they'd never followed him around. The Common Room was in the basement near the kitchens, but he'd found out that the easiest way there was up one set of stairs and through a short corridor. At the other end there would be a stairwell that went all the way down, with stops at every floor. He'd found it one of the many times he'd gotten lost. For now, he needed to find that corridor from where the stairs had left him. He stood on the landing looking both ways and trying to decide which would be faster.

Luna decided to follow him, she decided that she needed to be brave for once in her life. While she was following him, she saw more and more of Hogwarts. She never would have guessed that it was this big. She stopped when Markise stopped. She guessed that he looking for a way to go to the common room. She knew she had remember the route so that she won't get lost again.

It took a while, but eventually Markise noticed the persistent sound of footsteps in his wake, and the fact that they hadn't continued when he'd stopped. His brows drew together as he looked over his shoulder to see if it was his imagination. Apparently not. "Can I help you?" he asked dryly. He didn't mean to be rude, but she'd been following him.

Luna got out her notepad and started to write. When she done she showed Markise it said. 'Sorry for following but I am new here and I don't know where the Hufflepuff common room. So when I saw that you were a hufflepuff I decided to follow you. Sorry for following you again I know it is rude.' Luna then looked at the ground becoming shy.

"Oh," Markise said, shifting slightly on his feet. Now he felt bad for practically snapping at her. His voice gentled. His sister had never been shy, nor had he, but he could recognize it when he saw it. He wasn't sure about the notepad, though.
"You could have just asked. I mean, gotten my attention," he said, correcting himself. "It's a long walk and it's better with company." Not that he'd been wishing for company, but most of his need for social contact had been destroyed by the events of the past year.

Luna looked at Markise with a sweet smile when he said that it was better to be with company but when he said that she should have asked him, she looked sad. She then started to write on the notepad which said: 'Ever since my parents were killed I stop talking but rarely I talk. The only times I talk is when I have to do spells, something is really bug me, or when something is one my mind.'

Markise started at that revelation. She could talk, but she chose not to. "Nothing's on your mind now?" he asked, hoping she thought it funny rather than insulting. He glanced down the corridors again, then, deciding he wasn't going to wander around looking lost when he had company, chose a direction at random, and gestured for the girl to walk with him. "I'm Markise," he said, introducing himself. "What's your name?"

Luna just started to giggle at Markise's comment. She started to write again on her notepad which now said: Nope nothing is on my mind now. My name is Luna Alice James but you can just call me Luna. Nice to meet you by the way Markise.' Luna stopped giggle and smiled again as she started to follow Markise.

"Nice to meet you, Luna," Markise echoed. He looked aside at the girl and glanced down toward her notepad. "Doesn't that get... boring?" he asked. "It seems like it would take forever to say something." And yet he could see Silver doing it if he thought he could get away with it. It baffled him that some people couldn't seem to string words together out loud.

Luna wrote on her notepad again this time it said. 'Not really I have been doing this since age eight. The reason I do this is because at age eight I stopped talking and when I got my voice back I was pretty used to writing in my notepad.' Luna then looked at the ground.

Markise didn't want to know what had happened to the girl to make her stop talking. He wondered, but he didn't really want to know, and he wouldn't ask for details. He had a brief thought of Dare, though. Dare, who only a matter of months ago had broken down over guilt from his mother's death. He was pulled from his thoughts as they reached the basement. He showed Luna how to get into the Common Room. "I know the girls' dorms are that way," he said, gesturing toward a staircase, but I don't know which one is the first years. I hope I helped, though."
