She sat in silence. Her eyes gazing at the fireplace, the flames had what seemed her undivided attention, but her mind was somewhere else.
The pain at her side was still great, and she wasn't supposed to have left, but she never listened and had found the perfect opportunity to sneak out of the Hospital Wing.
She looked around the familiar room. It was exactly like her fathers study. The marble fireplace, the winged armchairs, and the shelves stocked with all sorts of books. Her lips curled into a faint smile, this place was her favorite back home, she spent more time in it than in her own room.
With her legs outstretched in front of her, she knew it was rather odd to be siting at the corner, but she preferred it down here, and something about sitting up hurt her side so much, leaning against the wall suited her perfectly.
Lafra had left the door a jar open, in case someone actually needed the room. She knew that from where she sat, the person coming in wouldn't be able to see her, but she would be able to see them. With a final sigh she shut her eyes, the sound of the cackling fire was enough to soothe her.

No, Ariel hadn't been hoping to find Markise in the room, but maybe...maybe he was hoping for something to take his mind off of everything anyway. When he walked in, the pool that had been in his mind certainly wasn't there. Instead, he saw some strange room that he had never seen before. Someone must have been in there, maybe still was, especially since the door had been ajar. He glared around the room absently and then the floor began to change, but then the change was abruptly stopped when he recognized a girl in the corner.

Her eyes opened a crack and she was able to faintly see the outline of someone. Completely opening her eyes she had realized who he was an muttered a small curse. Out of all the people, it had to be the greatest jerk thus far.
Using her hands to push herself she didn't say anything, but instead clutched her side, hissing in pain. She got up too fast and it hurt. She planted her hand firmly on the wall, using it as a way of support.
She eyed Logan, she should just leave right now, but she couldn't manage to get her feet moving and instead bit down on her lip, retaining herself from groaning in pain.
It was funny, she could faintly remember their conversation, something a long the lines of if she was too important she would be found dead in the forest... surly enough she was found badly wounded. She felt herself smirk, it was funny how things worked out.

"Oh please, don't leave on my account," Ariel said, glaring at her. His eyes weren't as bloodshot as they had been, thanks to Markise's advice, and the circles under his eyes weren't nearly as noticeable thanks to the lotions, which had come in handy in more ways than one. He turned to go, he could just go to the lake. It wasn't quite as warm as he was used to just yet, but it was pretty darned close.

His comment made her head snap up, she temporarily was ignoring the pain, this guy seriously had problems.
"What the hell is wrong with yo..." she trailed off, a small groan issued from her lips as she leaned against the wall for support, she had twisted her body so she could be facing him, but that only made things worse.
Lafra looked up glaring through the hair that had fallen in front of her face, this guy was bringing out the worst in her, why did he have to be such a jerk? She grit her teeth, he just had to choose this room instead.
" I'm leaving." she managed to say between her teeth, her voice was a hiss. He could have the room if he wanted, he'd probably end up b*ing about it later. Taking a deep breath, she managed to push herself closer to the door, but stopped halfway only to clutch her side again.

Ariel glared hard for a moment, then rolled his eyes and sighed, "Come here," he said gruffly. He didn't want to help her, but she was obviously in pain and he wasn't going to make her move when he could see that it hurt. His mind jumped back to Markise, and that made his eyes soften imperceptibly. He came up to her and offered an arm to lead her to a chair.

She looked at his arm, as if it was something she had never seen before. She looked up at him, first the look was of complete confusion, before it turned into a glare again.
"I don't need your help. Save the pity for someone else." she took a step past him, but instantly regretted it, her hand immediately gripped his arm, her teeth digging into her lower lip. She hissed again, maybe she should have saved herself all this humiliation and just stayed in bed. The nurse was probably still looking for her.

Ariel rolled his eyes and put his arm gently at her lower back, then took her hand with his other to lead her to the chair. "Sit down and stop trying to be brave or whatever," he said, still intending to leave as soon as he possibly could. "If it hurts, it hurts, and there's no damn reason to go off and pretend it doesn't."

She slowly sunk into the chair, she wasn't looking at him, trying her best to ignore him, but she could still hear his words. As much as she didn't want to admit it, he was right.
"This isn't bravery. It's honor and pride." she muttered darkly, she looked up at him from the chair, the glare slightly softening, he wasn't such a bad guy, just a rough exterior so it seems.
"No one's pretending." she said more to herself. She was sucking it up, accepting it in a different way. Lafra turned to the fireplace, it was easier to look at the flames then to look at his face, she knew she would have to thank him and seeing the smug look most guys got wasn't something she wanted to see.
"Thank you." she said slowly, her eyes still on the fireplace.

"You're welcome," Ariel said, then straightened and glanced around before starting toward the door. "My apologies for bothering you," he said, turning to give a sarcastic bow. "I'll leave you to your honor and pride." He didn't want to stay with her any more than he absolutely had to, and right then he didn't think he had to.

She shoudl have just let him go, allow him to leave her, but she didn't feel... right about it. There was a burning question in the back of her mind that she wanted him to answer since after the first time she met him.
"Wait... I just..." she trailed off, looking away from him and taking a deep breath, readying herself for the onslaught of sarcasm or maybe even to be ignored.
"Why is it that no matter how much of a b~ I am to you... you still help me?" she clamped her mouth shut, now turning to look at him, she didn't know him, but from what she picked up he was more introverted and cold, maybe her question would earn her a snort and then him walking away.

Ariel blinked and stopped, turning partially to look at her. "Because it's right?" he asked, raising an eyebrow hidden beneath dark blond hair. "I can't very well just leave someone obviously in pain walking around like that, now can I?" I'm not that heartless. It didn't mean he wanted to stay around to comfort her, but still.

"You don't seem like the type of guy to care about what's right and whats wrong." she couldn't hold it back. Lafra looked up at him curiously...
Lafra didn't turn her gaze from him, her look almost seemed challenging, was he just saying that to shut her up or was he being genuine.
Lafra scoffed, she doubted he was being genuine, the guy looked more into living and not caring who he hurt on the way rather than taking life in stride.

Ariel looked at Lafra, one eyebrow raised. "Really, and what kind of guy do I seem like to you?" he asked. It wasn't like he had anything better to do today, he might as well hear what the girl thought of him. He wasn't in the mood for it, but it looked like a better alternative to some of the things he could be doing instead.
