"It's fine," Markise said. He dropped his arm and brought both hands into his pockets, letting Lucretia have the space it looked like she needed.
"Will you be okay?" It would be silly to ask if she was okay. Of course she wasn't, she'd just been faced with some sort of nightmare, likely her personal demons. It reminded Markise of the demons Dare had been fighting, and that painful couple days he'd spent helping in ways that Michael hadn't known how to.
He blinked and turned his mind away from that, heading for his bed instead. He wondered exactly how detailed the Room of Requirement could get. If it was as much as he thought, he was definitely keeping his curtains shut.

She slowly walked towards one of the beds, the curtains was opened and it was directly below a window, maybe the 'light' would relax her. Sitting down she buried her face in her hands. Slowly allowing everything she had just seen sink into the background. Taking a deep breath, she managed to finally get her voice controlled.
"It's no big deal, I'll be fine." she always had these moments, but she thought she had gotten over all of it, she was sure she got past all the nonsense, then why did the room turn into that. Lucretia sighed and slowly looked up around the room once more, she still didn't want to look him, maybe observing the room would keep her distracted.

Markise peeked into his curtains, but aside from the couple items he shoved under his pillow, it was fine. He let the curtains fall closed again before turning to look at Lucretia, putting the oddity of a girl in his dorm room out of his mind. It wasn't really his dorm room, after all.
"If it'd help to talk, I'll listen," he offered. "Or I'll pretend not to listen," he added. Sometimes it was easier to talk about things with someone you hardly knew than with someone you knew too well. It erased the feeling of being judged, something Markise had learned that day he'd walked through Diagon Alley with Mano. He'd told Mano several of his secrets, and one that no one on earth knew, other than the two of them.

She laughed, it was dark, thick with disgust aimed at herself. She turned an eye to Markise and shook her head.
"You're willing to listen to how pathetic my life really is?" her voice was low, she stood up and walked towards the window. It funny how detailed it was, how the lawns looked so real, but it obviously wasn't real, there was no real sunshine outside, it was far too cloudy.
"It's the usual cliche, spoiled pureblood, caught up in her parents pathetic game of 'who's going to be my daughters suitor', of course he has to be wealthy and a perfect gentleman. How selfish they are, and now I have to deal with them prowling the school." she had her back turned to him, but even then her voice was an echo of the glare on her face. She didn't wait for him to reply, it felt good to get rid of all the excess weight.
"Then as the pathetic person I am, I crawled into the only place where I could be alone, and never show my face until months later." she finally managed to shut her mouth, her jaw was tense, already the shock of what she had seen was turning into anger, how could she be so stupid.
"To top it all off, I don't even understand how... or why all of that happened." she was referring to the odd room they were in moments ago, she thought the ROR was supposed to be a safe haven, not meant to torment the person.

Markise couldn't say he'd been expecting that, but it didn't shock or appall him. With as little as he knew about Purebloods he couldn't judge there, nor would he begin to think less of her for escaping for a while, not even for months.
"Being confused isn't pathetic," Markise said. "Neither is hiding out. Unless you're calling me and half the people I know pathetic," he added, in a rather pathetic attempt to lighten the mood in the room. He gave a slight shrug that she wouldn't see before going on.
"I won't pretend I know what your life's like, but I can tell you, if the room had done that to me..." He trailed off, unable to finish that thought out loud. If the room had shown him images of him at the hardest times of his life, he'd be recovering for days, if he didn't go completely insane.
"Anyway, you're here. There are people... a lot less strong than that." Markise looked off into the room, trying not to think too much about that. Dare hadn't gotten that far, though when Markise had seen him that first morning after they'd taken the potions, the possibility hadn't escaped him.

She kept quiet, choosing her words carefully, even if she knew he was right, she couldn't help but doubt herself at this time.
"No, whats weak is hiding from myself, I don't hide from my problems, I hide so I don't have to deal with me." she had pretty much told him how self conscious she was, and after dealing with Chase, it had only made it worse.
"I'm sorry if I offended you." she said quietly, she took a sharp intake of breath before turning around to look at him.
"No, but the room turned into this, it didn't turn into some weird temple with pictures of you. You've got something that I have never had." she returned to the bed opposite the one he was near.
"A lot less stronger, I don't think it gets any worse than that." Lucretia leaned her head against the bed post her eyes still on Markise but out of focus she was thinking, getting lost in what was left of the more peaceful side of her mind, where everything was simple.

Markise watched Lucretia, his chest constricting at how lost she looked.
"I wasn't thinking about the room when we went in," he said softly. "I was sure as hell thinking about it after, though. I asked it to change. I asked it to be somewhere safe, and I don't even know why it chose here. There are safer places than this..." Markise caught himself and went on as though he hadn't just implied that Hogwarts wasn't safe. "I mean, there are places I know better. I've only been here since October."
Markise tried to think of what else Lucretia had said instead of what he'd just said. He wasn't offended, but he figured it would be better right now to let that go than to argue over who was sorry for what.
"Weakness is human," he said at last. "I know some people have a hard time believing it, but it's true."

Lucretia frowned, she coudl faintly remember that whenever she wanted something, it would appear. yet, somehow Markise managed to change the whole room. The thought just registered in her mind.
"Weakness.. is only a part of a human when you acknowledge it. But when you fear it... is that not another greater form of weakness... one that is inhuman" she was confusing herself, and buried her face in her hands again. Lucretia knew that she was doing nothing but harm to herself. Sighing she wanted to smile... but it was getting painfully hard to do so.
Lucretia looked up again, once again ignoring his looks her eyes trailing over the room again.
"I'm boring you with my mopey stories, I'm sure you've got better things to do than listen to me." she finally turned to look at him, lips set in a thin line.

Markise's clear blue eyes looked back at Lucretia as he gave his head a light shake. "No, I don't," he said honestly. He wouldn't tell her he thought she needed the company; he'd known enough of the strong, independent type that could do everything themselves to know better. That didn't mean he had to leave, though.
Markise released a low breath as he pushed away from his bed, or rather, what looked like his bed, to move toward Lucretia. He leaned against the other post at the foot of the bed, looking out into the room to give her just that much distance.
"Fear is human too," he said softly. There was something else he knew. "I'd tell you not to be so hard on yourself, but it's easier said than done." Like everything.

Her eyes focused on him as he made his way towards her, she was able to smile, it was tiny but obvious.
"You're right, but I'll give you points for making this much easier." sure, she still had a lot to think about, but it was at these moments she was able to take a step back and rethink everything. Lucretia knew that it was easier for her to just, be alone. She stood up and crossed her arms around herself, it was the way she did it to protect herself, even if nothing was going to physically harm her, a reassurance to her of some sort.
"Thanks you." she let her statement hang, it was for everything he had done till now, Lucretia admitted that she was growing fond of Markise.
"I think... it's best I get going, the Three Broomsticks isn't going to get cleaned up on it's own." her smile was small, but it wasn't forced, the weight on her shoulders may not have completly lifted, but at least she didn't have to worry about it as much.

Markise looked at Lucretia a moment, then nodded. "I guess I should finish my Runes essay," he said, making it that much easier on her. Even if she was running or hiding, she didn't need to feel like she was. Everyone needed some time alone once in a while. Especially people who were used to it anyway.
"I'll see you around?" Markise asked. He straightened too, pushing lightly away from the post he'd been leaning on. He didn't feel like working on his Runes essay, but he knew that now was the time for a wise retreat.

"Yes, you will." she managed too make her way slowly to the door, her fingers on the handle. She turned to look at him once more with a small smile. Pushing it open, she almost gasped, forgetting that she was in the Room of Requirements for a while. She didn't know if she should shut the door or not so kept it open and left, making her way slowly to the common room.

Markise remained for a short time after Lucretia had gone. He closed the door, then looked around curiously to see how much the room knew. Apparently it didn't know any more than he did, and so after a quarter hour or so, he left as well, the room disappearing behind him.
