Lucretia was standing in front of wall holding the Room of Requirements, she was tapping her chin but wasn't sure what she wanted. Turning to Markise with a frown there was a lost look on her face.
"I don't know what I want to think up, how about you can choose the room this time." she glared long and hard at the room still wondering what it was that she wanted.

Markise blinked at the bare wall, then looked aside at Lucretia. "I don't know either," he said honestly. Even if he knew how it worked he wouldn't know what to do with it. "Can't you think of something?"
He was just glad to be back in the castle and out of the cold. There was nobody on this particular corridor besides them, so he wasn't desperately wishing for someplace quiet, and apparently hoping the room would do whatever it did wasn't enough to make that door appear.

She sighed and shut her eyes tight, she wasn't sure what she was thinking about, it was all a jumble, but pacing back and forth she looked up and an odd door was there. The shape was contorted and only stood at approximately 5'6.
"Well, as long as there are no beasts... I'm good." placing her hand on the nob she twisted it open. The room inside made her gasp and take a startled step back.
The room was large, looking as though they were in some odd temple of some sort. The stone walls looked so smooth yet sturdy. It wasn't the way the room looked, it was rather the way it seemed, as if it really was a large labyrinth. The tunnel to the left looked as though it led to a strange place. Turning to Markise she shrugged and went inside, her footsteps echoed while the sound of her robes swished.

Markise blinked at the sight, and tossed a glance down the corridor to make sure he was where he thought he was. It hadn't occurred to him that the door could change, or that the room could be something other than a room.
He watched Lucretia go in, then ducked under the door jamb, pulling the door lightly closed behind them. He had a thought that if they got lost in here they might never be found, and it made him nervous, but he wasn't about to beg they go somewhere less scary. He had that much pride.
"So where are we?" Markise asked, looking around.

She frowned and looked around once more, the place didn't look familiar at all, so why was it that it had just appeared.
"I don't know, but I really want to find out." she looked up at the torches and frowned, pulling out her wand the tip lit up the room brighter than before.
"If you want, you can stay and wait for me here."she turned the corner, disappearing with her light. The tunnel seemed so narrow she had to walk sideways just to get though.

"I don't think so," Markise said, more decisively than he'd spoken before. He moved after her, grimacing as he put himself into that narrow tunnel. "If I'm going to wait back there, I may as well go back to my Common Room." Which would defeat the purpose of having left it in the first place. It would also leave Lucretia alone, and though Markise wasn't at all sure he could protect her better than she could protect herself, it didn't seem right to do so. He hoped he wouldn't regret this, though he wondered if maybe he didn't already.

Despite the lack of light, she was greatly excited to see what was on the other side. There was no light, but it looked almost liked it was a shodow within another one.
"If only this bloody wand could give more light." she squinted, unable to see anything, speeding upi she reached what was the end and a small gasp issued.
"What in Merlin's name is it?" shining her wand around the place, she couldn't put her finger on wherever they were, it was a room filled with scrawls of writing and different pictures slapped onto the walls. Shining her wand slowly on one picture she took a startled step back.
The picture was of a small child, she looked... lost. As if not understanding what it was that was happening. A small flash was seen on the picture and the child's eyes grew wide before returning back to her lost look.
"It's me." she raised a shaky hand to the picture, her fingers trailing over the edge of the picture. Her wand moved to the next, it seemed they were all on chronological order.

Markise squeezed out after Lucretia just in time to see what she was looking at before she identified it. He blinked in surprise, then looked around, but she was right, it was too dim to see very well.
He pulled out his wand and frowned down at it a moment before reminding himself of what Brindle had told him about the spells. It took him a couple tries, but Lucretia was distracted by the portraits, so hopefully she didn't notice anything beyond the sudden addition of light from his own wand. He walked up beside her, raising his wand slightly.
"What is it?" he asked softly. It was portraits of her as a child, that much he knew, but were they someplace she knew? Were they duplicates of actual portraits? What had she been thinking of when the door had appeared?

"I'm confused." she muttered, she skipped a few and moved on to the next one. She raised her wand, it was a picture of when she first started Hogwarts, she was looking out the window, her parents were telling her something. While the other children waved, she seemed blank. There was a void of emotions on her face, even when she was 11.
"These were never taken before." she muttered, it was mostly for herself, but it was loud enough for Markise to hear it as well.

"So they're... not real?" he asked. "I mean, even outside here?" Once he thought about it, of course, he realized how very unlikely that would be. Who would take so many portraits of someone looking... lost? Dare. Markise shook that off. He didn't need to think about Dare or the many things he'd drawn that most people wouldn't even think about, or want to.
"Are you okay?" That seemed like the biggest question. This was obviously affecting Lucretia, but he couldn't help her confusion. He didn't understand any of this, and for now he'd forgotten about the fact that they were in the Room of Requirement.

She could muster a 'I'm fine', but it would be a complete lie. How could she be fine. Walking down the row she stopped at one photo, it was one of 'the bastard' holding onto her arm tightly, dragging her off somewhere.
She took a startled step back, her wand falling to the ground as both hand raised to her face in horror. the room got darker as her wand was no longer lighting up. She couldn't understand any of it. What was the point of this room? What was she thinking about as she paced back and forth.
Her mind began to drift and she realized that she was thinking of everything, the random thoughts and memories came to her mind when she entered, but why was it that the setting was as if they were in some ancient cave.

If Markise had been concerned before, he was worried now. He stooped just long enough to pick up Lucretia's wand, then drew even closer to her. looking around at the room that disturbed her so badly. He still wasn't entirely sure how the room worked, but right now he was wishing it was something different, something that wouldn't be a reminder of... the past, fears, nightmares, whatever it was that had scared Lucretia so badly.
The room began to shift in response. It brightened to a more normal lightness, and cloth covers fell down over every picture in turn. The pattern of that cloth rose from the walls like wallpaper, as though working with those covers to absorb the pictures.
Markise had no real idea that it was him causing the changes. As far as he'd known, the room was set once you were inside it. He drew closer yet to Lucretia, his wand raised for all the good it did, and brought his other arm around her, maybe to protect them both. At least those pictures weren't staring back anymore.

She didn’t notice much, the picture was stuck in her mind, but the changes. She turned to look around, everything was getting brighter.
“Markise?” her voice was small, like a scared child lost in the midst of a busy train station. Her hands rose to his arm, she really was scared, since when did the room ever do this? She turned to look at him, eyes wide. She had just come back from taking a long ‘vacation’, and this was happening. She wanted to just crawl under the covers in her dorm. She shut her eyes, not wanting to look anymore, it was too much to think about, and she didn’t want to think about it.
“Make it stop.” She said to herself, she was trying to comfort herself, but she wanted him to tell her that things would be fine, that it would all stop.

Markise's eyes were wide from the seemingly continuous shift. "I'll try," he told Lucretia. He tried to think back on what Anna had told him about the room, then closed his eyes as well, concentrating only on being somewhere safe. When he opened his eyes again, the room had finished its morph from that strange temple into something far more mundane. It wasn't his favorite place, but it was safe enough, he supposed.
The 6th year Hufflepuff boys' dorm wasn't anything exciting to look at. It had its beds with yellow curtains that bordered on gaudy, trunks and wardrobes. The occasional poster from the Holyhead Harpies or the Chudley Cannons. Markise's curtains were, as usual, the only ones shut. He blinked in surprise at finding himself here, of all places.
"It's safe now," he said.

At first, she didn't want to open her eyes, but barely opened one and being met by a brighter room, she managed to open up both of her eyes.
She looked around the room, it looked a lot like her dorm, only the posters revolved around the Weird Sisters or some odd gruesome picture a girl tacked up for fun. The room was brighter, there were actually windows and bright yellow drapery, it was... happier here than down in the dungeons.
"I'm sorry." she managed to whisper, slowly pulling away from him, she kept her eyes on everything but Markise, careful to avoid his eyes, afraid of what she would see in them.
