After that one moment of loss of control, Carolynn had her emotions entirely under her palm. She was completely in control of herself, and she pulled up her sweet little face again. The girl, while annoying, was still just a girl who knew nothing of the world outside of school and her own sweet little ideals of the world. "You have never lived without passion, without it, life is useless. I would rather die in passion than whither away without ever knowing the true joy that it brings."

Lucretia was internally rolling her eyes, Carolynn almost seemed naive to her, someone brought up to believe that if you bent down low enough, the world would bow down lower than you.
"Passion is just an excuse people use when everything else seems to be failing." Lucretia knew a lot about passion. The passion she put into her writing, the passion to watch all others fall. The latter being so powerful, it had taken a life of it's own inside her head, literally driving her into insanity.
A flicker in her eyes indicating the memories were still fresh in her mind. That even after all this time, she could still remember how passion had turned her into her own enemy.
"Kisses, hugs and whatever more there is, is not passion. There is a significant difference between passion and lust." she too returned the sickly sweet smile. Underneath her facade, her feeling ran much deeper. Towards Carolynn Lucretia felt amused, annoyed and a tad bit of pity.

Carolynn let out an airy laugh. "You think passion is evil?" she asked, tilting her head into her clasped hands. "Without passion, there is nothing. Lust is passing. Passion is lust on a much higher level, it involves such deep emotions, emotions you probably haven't had the pleasure of enjoying, and it stays. Without passion, my dear, empires would not have been built, great novels would not have been written. Love would be meaningless."

Lucretia was not offended at all by this girl, instead she spoke in a controlled attitude, a hint of a smile still on her lips.
"Empire built on passion? Empire are built through segregation and hate, built only by power for power. And yet, the greatest novels tend to be those of betrayal, hate and bigotry. A person could argue that there is a fine line between love and hate, yet they never realize how that line is nothing more than a humans way of justifying love. Love and hate are one in the same. For every good there is bad, for every form of 'good' love there will be love that is tainted, for everything that is good, there is something equally as bad." Lucretia eyes Carolynn with emotionless eyes, they stayed cold and unmoving yet the small grin was still there, it almost fell flat.
"You claim passion is lust, and that passion is also love. So do you claim that lust is also love?" her eyes were brightening now, Carolynn seemed so sure of herself, yet Lucretia wondered if Carolynn's words were actually backed up by experience.

"I never said anything of the sort," Carolynn said with another light laugh. "I only meant that if you love someone, you must want them, am I correct? And for that love to remain new and fresh, there must be some form of passion involved, or else that love goes stale and it falls apart." Passion was an important part of being human, and Carolynn could only pity the poor girl that didn't believe in such things. What life must this Lucretia have lived for her to be so vehemently against passion and, as it seems, love?

"Funny, that you and I from the same 'world' clash mentally. One would argue it's the age difference, I would argue it's the life lead." Lucretia's eyes went blank, she was deep in thought, everything that she had heard would amount to something. It wasn't the difference that intrigued her, nor was it that she was Chase's intended, but this woman's mentality was so optimistic... no the idealistic way she thought was so different, it was as if a child's mind was accidently placed in a womans body.
Standing up, Lucretia had enough for one day. She had gotten what she wanted and it was enough to satisfy her.
"I have stayed far too long and must be returning now. It was a pleasure to meet and talk to you Carolynn, I presume this won't be our last meeting." it was more of a statement than a question.
Lucretia doubted it would be the last she heard or seen of Carolynn, if Chase was getting married to her, then it would be broadcasted to the pureblood society, undoubtedly, it included her mother and father. The thought made her mentally scowl, if that meant a gathering of some sort or worse a ball... Lucretia would probably have to stab herself... again.

Carolynn stood as well and gave a pretty little curtsy to accompany her farewell. "The pleasure was all mine. I'll be sure to send you an invitation," she said when she looked back up at the girl. "I look forward to seeing you again, Lucretia." Perhaps she could find out more about the girl, in the meantime.

"I'll be looking forward to it." her words held another meaning, but that could be thought of later.
"Good day." Lucretia returned the courtesy she turned away only to briefly glimpse the guy Carolynn was talking to earlier once again, with a final nod, she waled out of the shop.
Lucretia pulled up the velvet hood once outside, a smirk of satisfaction came to her lips. So maybe she wasn't as insane as before, but that didn't mean she had completly gotten rid of her sense of fun, and this seemed to be the starting point of something new.

Carolynn's sweet face remained, but the smile turned sour and her eyes more intense after the girl left. The girl probably thought her some immature, naive person, but Carolynn could surprise. She would have Chase, and she would have that passion that the girl was so confident didn't exist. Carolynn took her time moving back to the counter and even when she rested her arms on the smooth surface her eyes remained on the door.
