"When do you have to be back at the school?" Mano asked, glancing out at the window. It wouldn't be a good thing for Markise to be locked out of the school because he had stayed with him for too long. He was confident that Markise would come back, even if there was a chance that it wouldn't happen. It was better to think positive.

"The gates close at eleven," Markise answered, "but curfew's at eight. It's ridiculous. If you just watch out for that cat..." If you watched out for the cat you could wander the school at whatever time you wanted, though there were still the gates to watch for. Markise shrugged lightly. "Anyway, it's got to be close to curfew, and even after I'm back in Hogsmeade there's the walk." The curfew might as well have been at seven for as early as he had to leave anything to be back on time.

"Then you should probably get going," Mano said, glancing toward the clock on the wall. "You don't want to get there and be locked out." He got a brief thought of Markise being stuck there with him, but it would be better for him to go ahead and leave so that he didn't end up stuck there in Diagon Alley.

Markise hesitated, something that Mano surely didn't miss, but all the same he gathered his belongings and slipped into his winter wear. He gave Mano a somewhat shy verbal farewell, then disappeared into the darkness.
